Birding with Victor was an unforgettable experience! I’d been concerned about finding an interesting and engaging excursion in Costa Maya, but I’d without hesitation I’d book again with Victor. Upfront logistics were straightforward, and we were already identifying new lifers within 5 minutes. During our drive out to the farm (took approximately 45 minutes and we did a bit of birding on the way) that Victor has partnered with for birding and other activities, Victor took the time to explain a lot about the local ecology and life in the region. After a few hours of birding, the owner of the farm treated us to an absolutely delicious homemade fresh meal and hibiscus water. We did buy some hot sauces from the farm following an awesome tasting of all of the options.
For anyone concerned, Victor is an incredibly kind and knowledgeable person. I wouldn’t hesitate booking again with Victor on any tour he might offer.

Great birding experience. I was able to see many birds in their natural setting. Victor drove me to farm in his nearly new truck.

Our guide helped us find birds to add to our Life List, asking us in advance to let him know any specific birds we were looking for. We added a dozen! Loved the small group too.

A brilliant guide. Victor knows every bird call. He locates birds very quickly and is superb at enabling everybody in the group to see the birds. Fantastic lunch. His English is top class.

Nothing really memorable since we got a late start due to our ship’s late arrival. However this was a very nice birding trip and Victor really knows his birds and where to find them. Even with the late start, we saw more than 30 different birds, as well as an agouti and very large tapir tracks.

First, Victor is top-notch. He's very friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable about birds, and speaks great English. My wife and I had a fantastic day birding with Victor. He specifically helped me check off many of the life-list birds I was looking for. His knowledge of the local area is great, and he was able to quickly put us in spots with plenty of birds. He drove, and we searched a few areas around Mahahual. In a residential area, we were lucky to get great close-ups of green jays from the car window! I was hoping to see the pygmy owl and laughing falcon. He had spots he thought could work, and they did! At one location, we had great calls from the Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl but no sighting. Later, at a different spot, he called one in, and it posed for some time. Wow! We started with Black-headed Trogan and ended with the Laughing Falcon. The Laughing Falcon was the icing on the cake. What a Day! In Costa Maya, BIRD WITH VICTOR!! You will be happy you did. Thank you, Victor!

By far the best private tour we’ve done from the Costa Maya cruise port. Victor is incredibly knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna as well as history. I only wish we would have found him years ago. We saw ~40 species of birds, had a fabulous lunch on the beach, and learned so much about the area.

Had a great time, we are amateur birders and Victor was great about helping us spot the birds. Found some cool species right next to the cruise port, then went to the "farm" stopping at a tree along the way that had tons of activity. Finished with a beachfront lunch. Would do it all again.

Victor was the best guide! He met us right off the cruise port and took us to a few places where we racked up tons of bird species including a lot of the endemics we were looking for. He also took us to a great local spot for lunch. Felt like we got away from the crowds and saw the beauty of Mahahual. We learned and saw so much in the few hours we had and this experience was a highlight of our cruise trip!

Costa Maya is a great location for bird-watching and I was glad I hired a guide as I saw many more birds than I could have found on my own. I particularly wanted to watch hummingbirds and I spent a magical hour watching (and trying to photograph) them on a private property. I saw more than 40 species on my 5 hour tour including beautiful owls, jays and orioles.
