It was not what we booked. We booked a private tour with a guide and ended up with a taxi driver. An agent (from the the tour company?) tried to talk us out of the ruins and when we said no, he said the taxi driver needed to stop to get cash and asked if we felt safe. Clearly this was not a good way to start! We did go to Chacchoben ruins, but were left at the entrance and told to be back in 35 minutes to figure our way around. Afterwards, we were supposed to go to an all inclusive club for food and drink. We did not grab a snack at the ruins as we thought we were heading for that. We were instead put on a boat to do a boat ride on the Bacalar. It was a beautiful ride, but we were dehydrated as we had not had any liquids from our ruins visit onward. We then were taken back to the pier, where we were finally able to get water and a small snack. The driver was very personable and tried to do what he could which is why I gave it two stars. The tour company was a total failure!
