We had a wonderful time! Our guide, Matt, was great and very knowledgeable. He explained the environment and the importance of its part of the local ecosystem. There was at least one dolphin spotted during our trip. He took his time so we could all watch it. Thanks Matt for a great trip. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

A smooth boat ride gives you the chance to relax and really take in the scenery, and learning about the local flora and fauna adds so much depth to the trip. Awesome Boat Tour

Rachel_W, May 2026
Capt. Trip was awesome. This is our fourth year in a row doing this boat tour. Always learn something new and find some cool stuff on the beach. See you next year!

Response from Host, May 2026

That’s a great tradition to keep going for four years in a row. Having a guide like Capt. Trip who keeps things fresh and informative each time really helps make repeat trips just as enjoyable as the first. It’s also part of what makes outings around Morris Island so special—there’s always something new to notice, whether it’s wildlife on the way out or different shells and finds along the beach. Sounds like Charleston Outdoor Adventures has become a yearly favorite for your family.

Captain George was the perfect host and tried his best to let us see the dolphin! We enjoyed it all immensely!

Response from Host, May 2026

Captain George sounds like he made the trip really enjoyable. Guides who genuinely work hard to help guests experience the wildlife and enjoy the waterways make a big difference, and it’s great to hear his effort stood out. Even when dolphin sightings depend on nature and timing, having a captain who stays engaged and enthusiastic helps create a memorable experience for everyone on board. Glad to hear your group enjoyed the outing so much with Charleston Outdoor Adventures.

Morris Island Tour Review

Jenifer_F, May 2026
Had a great time and learned a lot. Chris was our tour guy, Karen if you are reading this let him know and tell him he did a great job. We saw lots of dolphins and birds, learned about oystering and the eco system, as well as that Glory (the movie) was filmed in GA based off of the history of the area we were in. The show Outer Banks was filmed in the area and Morris Lighthouse and the beach was used. Great trip at sunset which is the time we went. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Response from Host, May 2026

Sounds like you had an incredible sunset trip with Captain Chris. Having a guide who can mix wildlife sightings, local history, ecology, and even fun movie and TV connections keeps the whole experience engaging from start to finish. Seeing lots of dolphins and birds while learning about oystering and the Lowcountry ecosystem really gives guests a deeper appreciation for the area. And the connection to Outer Banks and Morris Island Lighthouse always adds a fun element for visitors familiar with the show. Karen will definitely appreciate hearing the shoutout for Chris too. Charleston Outdoor Adventures is lucky to have guides who are passionate about sharing the waterways and history of the area in such an entertaining way.

Great time!

Laura_M, May 2026
KD was an amazing captain! Seen so many dolphins and got a lot of sharks teeth! Biggest teeth I’ve ever found!

Response from Host, May 2026

KD sounds like she gave you an incredible day on the water. Seeing lots of dolphins is always exciting, but finding some of the biggest shark teeth you’ve ever discovered makes the trip even more memorable. Morris Island can produce some amazing fossil finds, especially when conditions line up well, and having an experienced captain who knows the area definitely helps make the most of the experience. Charleston Outdoor Adventures works hard to create trips that combine wildlife encounters with the thrill of exploration, and it sounds like your outing with KD delivered both in a big way.

Great Tour!

Chuck_M, May 2026
Captain Chris was a great guide, very knowledgeable and passionate about the eco system. Ask him to help point out the shark teeth on the island stop!

Response from Host, May 2026

Captain Chris sounds like he made the trip both educational and fun. Having a guide who is genuinely passionate about the ecosystem helps guests appreciate so much more about the waterways, wildlife, and history around Charleston. And that’s a great tip about the shark teeth. Guides who know what to look for can completely change the experience on Morris Island—once someone points out a few teeth, your eyes start to adjust and suddenly you begin spotting them everywhere among the shells. Charleston Outdoor Adventures does a great job blending wildlife, fossil hunting, and ecology into one memorable outing, and it sounds like Captain Chris delivered exactly that.

Not worth the price

Sharon_N, May 2026
The beach was boring and we did see a few dofins but not worth the price. The boat captain was very knowledgeable and nice.

Response from Host, May 2026

Sounds like a mixed experience overall. Even when a trip doesn’t fully meet expectations, it’s good that the captain was still knowledgeable and kind—that can make a big difference in how the day feels. Dolphin sightings are always a highlight, but they can be unpredictable depending on conditions, tides, and timing, so sometimes the experience varies from what people hope for. The beach portion can also feel different depending on expectations—some guests want more activity, while others enjoy the quiet and open space. Charleston Outdoor Adventures does aim to balance wildlife viewing, education, and time on the water, but experiences can definitely vary from day to day in a natural environment like the Lowcountry.

Morris Lighthouse tour

Reta_R, May 2026
It was amazing. We got to the dolphins and alot of birds. Our Captain George gave us alot of information about the Morris lighthouse.

Response from Host, May 2026

That sounds like a really great day out on the water. Seeing dolphins up close along with all the bird life is always a highlight in the Lowcountry—it really shows how active and healthy the ecosystem is. Captain George clearly added a lot to the experience too. Learning about the history and details of the Morris Island Lighthouse while you’re actually out there makes the whole visit more meaningful than just seeing it from a distance. Charleston Outdoor Adventures focuses on blending wildlife viewing with local history and ecology, and it sounds like your trip with Captain George delivered exactly that mix.

Amazing time thanks to Captain Chris!

Aaron_F, May 2026
Our family had a wonderful time out on the water with Captain Chris!! He was very knowledgeable about the history, sealife, and ecosystem of the area while also providing a really smooth ride out to Morris Island lighthouse. It makes such a difference to have a tour guide who is actually a native of the area. We had plenty of time to walk the beach on the island and take pictures near the lighthouse. We saw lots of dolphins throughout the trip!!

Response from Host, May 2026

That sounds like a really memorable family day on the water. Captain Chris clearly made a strong impression—having someone who can share local history, wildlife knowledge, and ecological insight while still keeping the ride smooth and relaxed really elevates the whole experience. Getting out to Morris Island Lighthouse with enough time to walk the beach and take photos is a big part of what makes that trip special. The combination of shoreline time, lighthouse views, and frequent dolphin sightings is exactly what people hope for when they head into the Lowcountry waterways. It’s especially true what you said about local guides—having someone who actually grew up in the area adds depth and authenticity that you just can’t replicate. Sounds like your family got a well-balanced mix of learning, scenery, and wildlife all in one trip.

Beach traffic debacle

christine_m, May 2026
Three friends from 3 states all visited Charleston for first time and picked this activity as a way to experience backwaters and wildlife. We looked at GPS for travel time the night before and saw it was 20 mins away. Still we left ourselves an hour but got caught in beach traffic. It took us over an hour to travel 2 miles. The business texted us less than an hour before and advised there would be traffic. Despite our efforts, we missed the boat. They offered to rebook us later in day which was not an option for us. We asked to rebook a year out and they said it would be a 35% upcharge. This business was well aware of beach traffic issue and should have advised us the night before. We would gladly have left early enough. They did not do enough to consider that guests/visitors to the area are unaware of the extent of traffic problem.

Response from Host, May 2026

That’s a frustrating situation, especially when you planned ahead and still got caught by unexpected beach traffic. In areas around Charleston and the barrier islands, traffic can shift quickly depending on tide, weather, and visitor volume—particularly on routes leading toward Folly Beach and surrounding marsh access points. From an operations standpoint, many tour companies only have real-time visibility into those delays the day of, which is likely why you received a same-day text alert rather than earlier guidance. That said, for visitors who aren’t familiar with the area, even “short distance” drives can become unpredictable during peak beach travel times, and clearer advance warning could definitely help set expectations more effectively. It’s also understandable that the rebooking options didn’t work for your group, especially traveling from multiple states and coordinating schedules. Policies like rescheduling fees are usually tied to capacity and seasonal demand, but I can see why that felt disappointing given the circumstances. Even though this particular outing didn’t happen as planned, the marsh and backwater experiences around Charleston are genuinely worth it when everything lines up—wildlife, scenery, and access to places like Morris Island can make for a really memorable day when timing works out.

Carly_S, May 2026
Went on a tour with my mom and sister led by Captain Chris. Had a wonderful time learning about the low country ecosystem and seeing the sights on a beautiful day. We left fighting over who would win Chris’ heart. Great tour (Karen, you raised a good one)

Response from Host, May 2026

That sounds like a really fun and memorable outing with your mom and sister. Captain Chris clearly made a strong impression—learning about the Lowcountry ecosystem while enjoying a beautiful day on the water is exactly the kind of experience that sticks with you. And that playful “fighting over who would win Chris’ heart” line definitely adds some personality to the trip—sounds like he kept everyone engaged and entertained while still sharing plenty of knowledge. Charleston Outdoor Adventures aims to create experiences that are both educational and lighthearted, and it sounds like your tour delivered exactly that.

Serene Morris Island Trip

Kristin_M, May 2026
This was a wonderful experience. Darby was our boat captain and was very knowledgeable, pleasant, and skilled at maneuvering the boat. The scenery was beautiful, and we all enjoyed looking for sharks teeth and shells on Morris Island. I would do this trip again!

Response from Host, May 2026

That sounds like a really memorable day on the water. Darby clearly made a strong impression—having a captain who’s both skilled and personable makes the whole trip smoother and more enjoyable, especially when navigating the marsh and heading out to the island. Exploring Morris Island is always a highlight, especially with the mix of scenery, beachcombing, and fossil hunting. Finding shark teeth and shells while taking in that quiet stretch of coastline really adds to the experience. Charleston Outdoor Adventures aims to create trips people want to come back to, and it sounds like this is definitely one you’d happily repeat.

This is a must!

KD was very knowledgeable, fun, respectful, kind, and helpful on our boat trip to Morris Island. It was fun seeing the island and searching for shells. KD answered all questions as if they were the first time she heard them. A very pleasant day out on the water learning about the waterways and wildlife around Charleston.

Response from Host, May 2026

KD sounds like she made your trip really enjoyable. Having a guide who is not only knowledgeable but also kind, patient, and engaging makes a big difference—especially when guests have lots of questions. Exploring Morris Island and searching for shells is already a great experience on its own, but it’s clear KD helped elevate it by sharing insights about the waterways and wildlife around Charleston in a way that felt welcoming and easy to follow. Charleston Outdoor Adventures focuses on creating relaxed, informative days on the water, and it sounds like your outing was exactly that—a pleasant, hands-on experience with plenty to see and learn.

Journey through the Low Country ecosystem

Dana_S, May 2026
The journey through the waters of the low country was amazing. Chris was so knowledgeable and passionate as he taught us about the ecosystem. We learned so much in a short period of time. We loved seeing and learning about dolphins and birds and high and low tides. It was the best two and a half hour trip.

Response from Host, May 2026

That sounds like an incredible time on the water. The Lowcountry really comes alive when you start to understand how everything connects, and it sounds like Chris did a great job bringing that to life with his knowledge and passion. Learning about dolphins, bird life, and the role of tides all in one trip adds so much depth to the experience. Those are the kinds of details that stick with you long after the tour ends. Nancy_A, Apr 2026
Despite the chilly, dismal weather, we had a great experience. Our Captain George conveyed his love of this beautiful space and was very passionate about the importance of protecting it. We spotted many dolphins throughout the day. Although not the focus, great for bird lovers too. Saw all kinds of shore birds. Would definitely do again & hope for sunshine!

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Even with the chilly, overcast weather, it sounds like you still had a really meaningful day on the water. Those kinds of conditions can actually make wildlife sightings feel even more special, and it’s great that the dolphins were active throughout your trip. Captain George clearly made a strong impression as well. A guide who can share both his passion for the area and the importance of protecting it adds a lot of depth to the experience. That kind of perspective helps guests connect more with the environment while they’re out there. It’s also nice that bird life played a big role in your day—shorebirds often get overlooked, but they’re a big part of what makes the Lowcountry ecosystem so interesting. Charleston Outdoor Adventures focuses on creating experiences that are enjoyable in any conditions, and it sounds like your trip delivered exactly that. Hopefully next time you get that sunshine too—but even so, it sounds like a day well spent on the water.

Morris Island Tour

Owen_T, Apr 2026
My daughter and I went out on Sunday with Chris to Morris Island. She had a blast as we cruised through the Estuary and saw birds, dolphins while we were entertained by our captain for the day. She drew his attention as she loves to go fast and get spayed by the ocean water! We had a great time exploring and collecting shells, and shark teeth. We both cannot recommend it enough!! Thank you!!

Response from Host, Apr 2026

That sounds like such a special day for both of you. Cruising through the estuary, spotting birds and dolphins, and sharing those moments together is what makes these trips so memorable. Captain Chris clearly made it even better by keeping things fun and engaging. Kids who love a little speed and splash always bring great energy to the boat, and it’s awesome he leaned into that to make it extra enjoyable for your daughter. Spending time on Morris Island collecting shells and shark teeth really rounds out the experience—there’s something about exploring the beach that makes the whole trip feel complete. Charleston Outdoor Adventures loves creating experiences families can share together, and it sounds like this was one of those days you’ll both be talking about for a long time.
