Rafael our guide contacted us in advance to arrange the meeting point and time for our tour. We arrived 10 minutes early and waited for over one hour on the pick up. During this time calls and messages were sent to Rafael and none of them were answered. It was only when we called the office that we found out that the tour had departed without us. Fortunately we had evidence that we were at the meeting point early (photo and other tourists waiting on other tours - one of which also tried to contact Rafael on our behalf without success). The tour was kind enough to come to pick us up even though we are not in the area. I booked the tour in English, but they told me last minute that it's only in Spanish. Luckily my friend speaks Spanish. The breakfast portion was very small and beverage choices were just (super sweet) coffee and orange juice. It got quite warm in the van in the afternoon. The restaurant was nice and cool inside. It was a neighborhood restaurant and I saw plenty of locals there. The lunch was delicious. The soup was delicious and hot, but I was expecting more local Barranquilla dishes.
On the way back, the music was too loud in the car when I was trying to relax and get a quick nap after a long day.

The highlights included the Puerto Colombia pier, the beach, a historic castle, the Window Tower, the Shakira and Sofía Vergara statues, the Barranquilla letters, and other city landmarks that made for great photos.
For Vegetarians the breakfast was a simple cheesy empanada, which was good but limited to one. Lunch was excellent though, and the women who worked there were very nice.

This is an extremely diverse tour with many different things to see. It is a very. long trip, so please be prepared for a 10-12 hour day. Having said that, it is very relaxing as you are just in the bus with several small stops. Not a ton of history, but just fun stops. It is a great break from the city if you want a break from the sun, beach, and Old City. If you only have 2-3 days in Cartagena, this may not be a priority, though we had 10 days so it was welcomed.
We were the only English speaking people on our tour, and our guide, Jhon Fredyz, took extreme care of the others, as well as us, to make sure we understood everything. Thank you Jhon, for being such a great tour guide!
