The area around Cardiff...

The area around Cardiff is beautiful. Quaint villages. Delicious food. Our tour guide, Ausman, tailored the tour to what we were interested and had some other great suggestions. We had a very enjoyable day and would highly recommend this experience to others.

Not what’s advertised

We booked this (pretty expensive) full day private tour. What we got was a very nice and accommodating driver, Lewis, who actually had never been to the locations we were visiting and correspondingly couldn’t do much of a tour. Again, Lewis was a kind, nice, man and drove us everywhere and was very accommodating. But, the tour operator sent him out to be a tour guide on a tour he’d never done (not his fault) and Lewis wasn’t a tour guide by trade anyway. Can’t recommend this to anyone and I’m asking Viator for some kind of partial refund.

Good Evening Cary, I'm sorry the tour did not live up to your expectations. We have been operating our Wye Valley Tour for 4 years and has always been a popular well reviewed tour. This is shown in the number of 5 star reviews this tour receives compared to other ratings (in fact this is the first time our Wye Valley Tour has anything other than a 5 Star Review) From your review is seems you were expecting either a Blue Badged Guide. We do not advertise that our drivers are Blue Badged Guides, as they are not. If we only used Badged Guides, the cost of the tour would have to be twice what it is due to the amount of money they demand. On the itinerary we sent you ahead of the tour we do state "Our driver guides are not historical experts." and "their may be some gaps in their knowledge and be not be able to fully answer all your questions." I apologies if it was still not clear that the driver would not be a Blue Badge Guide. Whilst not "a tour guide by trade" Lewis has been carrying out tours for us for a number of years, and all feedback from Tours he has carried out has been exceptional, and he consistently receives 5 star reviews (this is also the first review of a Tour he has done that has not been 5 stars). This was the first time he carried out a Wye Valley Tour, but even if he had carried out 100 times, at some point it would have been his first time. He was given the same level of training for this tour, as every other tour he has carried out for us, and I was confident he would have been able to carry out a Wye Valley Tour to the same high standard he has carried out other tours for us over the years.

David was very knowledgeable and accommodating. He never made us feel rushed and let us utilize our time how we wanted. He even offered an umbrella when it started raining at our last stop! All stops were beautiful and I would highly recommend this tour.

Dave coordinated with us extensively for weeks before our arrival to customize our itinerary. He picked us up at the train station in Newport and gave us a tour of the Wye Valley with a carefully selected list of places to see. At each stop, he'd wait for us to take our time exploring each location before moving on to the next stop. It was very nice to go at our own pace.

Superbe excursion et chauffeur sympathique

Excursion dans la vallée de la Wye, et le MonmouthShire avec 4 visites passionnantes : Chepstow Castle (vieux chateau médiéval bien entretenu avec une très belle vue sur la Wye), l'Abbaye de Tintern, impressionante, le manoir des Tudor à Raglan, et les ruines romaines de Caerleon : en une journée, très belle aventure qui s'étale sur des siècles d'histoire du Pays de Galles, au milieu d'une belle campagne. Et la surprise de trouver un restaurant étoilé Michelin, accessible et abordable, sur la route, que je recommande fortement (The WhiteBrook, pas loin de l'Abbaye).
