We will NOT visit the interior of Poenari Fortress, we will only see it from below - outside. To enter in Poenari Fortress you have to climb 66 floors on the stairs!
Bâlea Glaciar Lake (the view point to the winding road) is accesibile only from June to October, in the rest of the year we visit Curtea de Argeș Monastery end the grave of the royal family

The route was great experience and wonderful guide(George) who explained about different places and shown us. The tunnel on the top was closed as mentioned(closed from Nov to mar). But our guide made sure that we the maximum experience of the trip

Go see the Carpathians with Matt and the Bears

It’s a long day but the “Top Gear” road and seeing the bears make it all worth while. We had a spectacular day and our guide Matt kept us well informed of all relevant facts, as well as leading some interesting discussions about world travel. Have paid twice as much for a tour half as good several times before. Can recommend.

The 4 star rating does not apply to our guide Victor, who would deserve a 10. He was so knowledgeable and attentive he really made the tour interesting. The reason for not giving a 5 star rating is because we were not able to go sledding as the snow had started to melt, then froze solid into sheet ice which made it impossible to sled. We were meant to take a ski mobile trip that day but the guide cancelled so we took this trip instead. It was for my husband’s birthday and whilst Victor made the day as enjoyable as possible we were very disappointed with the outcome. Maybe checking the conditions before accepting bookings would be the way forward.

Our experience was absolutely amazing! Since we were the only ones booked for the day, we were greeted with a car and received exceptional treatment throughout the entire trip. Our guide, Sebastian, was incredibly knowledgeable about Romanian history and the landmarks we visited, making every stop even more fascinating. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bucharest who wants to escape the city for a day—it was easily the highlight of our trip. The places we visited were stunning, and we had so much fun sledding on the mountain. Plus, we appreciated having free time at each stop to explore on our own.

Best part of my trip in Romania. A little pricey but We have a group of 2. I like small group. Mr Sebastian is very knowledgeable. I usually don’t like to listen to guides talking but I enjoyed listening to him. Was hoping to see bears but they are hibernating. And the description on the website is not accurate. I was nervous about the temperature on the mountain as the website says it is 20 degrees lower than Bucharest so I thought -20c.But later when I asked he said that is for summer. Right now it is just a few degree lower than Bucharest. It was a lot of driving but it was a fun day. We didn’t waste time on stops and food(maybe because of small group too)Thank you for the trip Mr Sebastian I wish you good business.

A must do trip whilst in Romania

This was an all day trip, but was so worth it to see the amazing scenery in the mountains of Romania. Our guide Sebastian was very knowledgeable about everything we saw throughout the day and the general history of Romania. We were never rushed at any of the stops and had plenty of time to take lots of pictures. The highlight was seeing a brown bear and her cubs rights at the end of the tour.

Really was looking forward to this trip, and with trips like these even though they guarantee you will see something I always tell myself I won’t so I don’t get disappointed, we saw 18 brown bears!!! Amazing! They are so close to you. All sizes. Baby bears, mummy bears, massive bears. Then afterwards the top gear road was also incredible to see. Our guide was fantastic and really knowledgable! Well worth going!!!

Our guide was Roxana. She told us all history and stories about Romania and places that we drove to. We were lucky to see numbers of bears close to our car. Unfortunate we had heavy fog and rain on hight mountain, but what we had see was amazing!

You drive up through the mountains on windy roads with some superb views of ravines, lakes and mountains, and of course bears. Our driver and guide Raxana was very knowledgable about the area and history and made it a comfortable ride up to the glacier lake where theres some good places to relax and loads of little stoolsto buy souvenirs, food and drink. A couple of restaurants too. You might be able to swim in the lake if you bring things to get changed into and ensure you are dry when you get on the bus, ask the tour company first. It is a long day and a long drive but the stops and the sights break it up so it doesnt feel it.

Roxana was an absolutely fantastic driver and guide. She was cheerful, personable, knowledgeable and had great driving skills. We saw several bears and their cubs and enjoyed the wonderful views at the glacial lake.

Very limited stops for the bears (average of 1 -2 minutes), the windows did not wind down except for the lucky 2 in the front and windows are tinted too so photos don’t come out great. A Lot of unsafe driving too, with our driver speeding and not paying full attention.

Guaranteed Bears Sighting!

I'd sincerely urge evryone visiting Bucharest to take a day off and take this tour. You'll return with excellent memories and a phone full of bear-photos. Sebastien and Matei were exceptional guides. We were 8 of us on the tour, so they got is two cars (which was very kind of them). This allowed us to space out and travel much more comfortablely. They drove us out of the city, into the forests, stopped many times to show the sights and gave us an in-depth historical and cultural contexts. We saw Vlad's castle, the dam and then headed off to the forests to see bears. I kid you not, but we saw 33 bears in total, 13 of which were baby cubs and the most adorable creatures. We also saw foxes. Was an exciting safari and got so much more than what I had expected. The last stop was the transfagarsan highway. Beautiful views from atop. And a very windy lunch! All in all, I'd highly recommend you booking with Sebastian. Excellent tour and was the highlight of my visit to Bucharest.

A great tour, our guide Matei was fabulous very knowledgeable and let us explore and take pictures at our own pace. The road still isn't fully open due to the snow but this did not deviate from experience we got up really high to some amazing views, saw at least 8 bears along the way. Plus stopping for the Mici on the way was an added bonus. Fully recommend everyone to do this, its a long day but totally worth it
