There is more in Romania

Edilino_A, Oct 2021
Our trip started 17Oct-23Oct2021. Its a bit challenging to plan a tour in this current times but our Tour Operator, George is very helpful. He help us understand Guidelines set in order for us to make the tour until we arrive in Romania. He also assigned to us a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide Alex. When Romania was being mentioned before, all we can think of is D. But everything changes as we navigate around. The beautiful and serene landscapes with colorful Autumn. The beautiful Olt valley to visit Cozia monastery. Sibiu, a beautiful medieval city where Romanians and Saxons have been living peacefully for centuries. Alba Lillian. Salina Turda where It was exhilarating to go inside and coming out of the salt mine. Cluj- very vibrant Surdesti wooden church also left us in owe. Who would have thought that the tallest wooden church built in 1721 still exist. Barsana monastery in the Maramures region in the Northern Transylvania. Vadu Izei- Romanian volataare/whirlpool. I love Merry Cemetery- not your typical cemetery. It would have been nice if I can read Romanian so I can better understand the life stories, details and final moments of the departed written on the crosses.Moldovita Monastery. Ceramica Marginea- beautifully handcrafted ceramics. Piatra Neamt- beautiful citade founded at the time of Stephen the Great. On to the breathtaking landscape of Bicaz Canyon to Lacu Rosu. Sighesoara birthplace of Vlad Tepes aka D. We stayed there for a night at the Historic center. We learned that it was here that Vlad was born in 1431. Bran Castle- the vet famous Bran Castle. A border between Wallachia and Transylvania. On to Brasov Historical Center.. I love Brasov.. very peaceful. You can just hang out in the plaza and sip coffee during evenings. Peles Castle - with due respect to other castles we have seen in Europe, but by far personally this is the most fabulous castle we have seen so far. I would not go into details but you’ve got to go there to see it for yourself. Of course we have not been to Romania if we have not been toured around Bucharest. Triumph Arch, Antheneum, Revolution Square and the Parliament Palace.. the food..omg .. Papanais, lava cake, polenta everything.. and the people who are really nice. One thing, I would suggest is always to have a constant communication with your tour operator for things that you want to clarify. I really appreciate George for his understanding and of of course Alex for his patience.. Hope to see you guys for our Balkan Tour..

So glad we did it! Romania turned out to be just great with Liviu!

Larry_N, Sep 2021
Touring with our tourguide Liviu through the high mountains, beautiful valleys, entering the peaceful painted monasteries of Bucovina, going to the Merry Cemetery in Maramures, Bran Castle, with it's Halloweenish atmosphere, another castle, that belonged to the King and Queen Elisabeth, Liviu has taken us to the Red lake, and to the Turba mine. The hotels where we stayed were very nice. Liviu has taken very good care of us. He is one of the most considerate, patient and caring person. He is very knowledgeable, his pation for history is contageous. My husband and I have changed the view of Romania 180 degrees. We've seen a beautiful, fully deceloped country with a unique history and art. We were a little sceptical signing for this tour, but we were so glad we did it with this company, tour2ro and especially with Liviu. He has shown us his Romania, all the beauty. I can hardly have all the words to express our thanks to Liviu for this tour from the bottom of our hearts. God Bless you and this company and all Romanian people!

My friend and I, both senior...

Sally C, Nov 2017
My friend and I, both senior citizens, booked this trip with modest hopes and expectations. We both are seasoned travelers yet we were totally amazed and in awe of the tour and the TLC provided by a Viator subcontractor named George Panica of Trip2Ro. We traversed over 900 miles in, over and around the Carpathian mountains, through the four major regions of Romania from Wallachia to Transylvania, Bukovina and Moldova, The Transfagarasan Highway reaches a peak of 6700 feet so we could see breathtaking vistas throughout. We visited the Hungarian enclave in Transylvania where we stopped at a restaurant for Hungarian goulash. The painted monasteries in Bukovina and Moldova are considered comparable to Michelangelo's Sistene Chapel paintings --but the monasteries are painted both inside and out with mysterious paint and unknown painters. It is miraculous that most of the exterior paintings have survived over 600 years. Most tourists are interested in Bran Castle of Dracula fame but we felt Peles Castle is far more compelling for the tech advances employed in heating and plumbing and the showcase of the best craftsmanship from around the world. We got a chance to see an illuminated icon workshop, a workshop where carpets and sweaters were made, and experience a model holy man's bedroom where the hay bed and stone pillow both felt like cold cement. As we went through a potato-growing area where sacks of potatoes line the street, ready to be sold, we stopped to see a potato-growing grandma raising her grandson. She invited us in for a cup of delicious coffee and a tour of the summer kitchen, barn, and residence. At each stop there was a surprise and delight, well planned and a great memory. One day we stopped at a pottery studio where the artisan sat at a wheel turning clay that is fired at 1400 degrees and results in black pottery. While in Brasov we stopped at a face/body cream store to purchase some of the special wrinkle-remover cream used by the rich and famous. At every juncture our guide George took us to restaurants that held local and/or historical interest--one such was Vlad Dracul's house in Sighisoara. Because one of us had limited mobility George provided door to door service, carried our luggage back and forth to each hotel, and stayed with us to provide translation services at meals and give us tips on best prices for given items. By the end of the trip we were sorry to say goodbye to our new friend and sad to depart magnificent Romania.

From the city to the mountain...

Lester_J, Jan 2017
From the city to the mountain passes, all covered in snow, a great experience. Painted churches to Castles and legend of Dracula thrown in for good measure. Happy people with such a rich culture. Feel in love with this country very quickly. Amazing tour guide who was so willing to show and share his beautiful country and their treasures, many thanks to you Panica George Cosmin Trip2Ro. Appreciated the service. To many photos to choose from so will leave you to create your own.
