Chef Mikel gave us an opportunity to be involved in every aspect of the food preparation; the class was held in chef teaching facility located in a wine bar. The latest kitchen setup for a class of eight and a large table for serving guests. We had a great slicing, dicing, and cooking. Preparing different types of pinxtos to taste with a white wine. The group agreed that the steamed cod mixed with mashed potatoes was not well liked. We enjoyed the taste of all of the others that we made. The wine bar had music and many wines by the glass that were excellent to sip.

Unforgettable Basque culinary experience from beginning to end!

If you love great food and wine, beautiful scenery and architecture, history and meeting amazing, talented people, then this is the dream travel experience for you! It was inspiring to spend time with Irene and David at their Basque hillside paradise just 30 minutes outside of Barcelona. The tour of the magical seaside village of Castro-Urdiales, on the Camino de Santiago, to learning how to cook the most delicious pintxos of our trip, to tasting local wines and learning how to appreciate its unique qualities, this boutique gastronomic experience could not have been any better! Irene & David were kind, generous and infectiously passionate about food and wine. They welcomed us into their amazing home as if we were family. Honestly, we were ready to move in by evening’s end!

Fantastic Cooking Experience in Spain!

Irene, the cooking instructor is a gem! She grew up in Bilbao, gave us a short tour then went to her villa for the hands on cooking class. She paired each pintxos with wine. Irene makes you feel like family. Wonderful way to spend the afternoon! Highly recommend this class.

We waren echt teleurgesteld, we mochten alleen een aardappel schillen, een ei pellen, champignon schoonmaken en een garnaal pellen. De wijn vloeide rijkelijk en de chef vertelde alleen maar over zichzelf! Echt het geld niet waard!

Dear Ellen, Thank you for your feedback as we keep learning from every customer who visit us. We are quite surprised about this review but we appreciate the time you took to share it with us so we can keep improving. There were many more dishes to be made in this class and many more steps but they are not mentioned in your review like the brandada of cod, the local mayo or the Basque torrijas. Our feeling is that this review is connected to the fact that you didn´t feel comfortable with the rest of the group or our staff and that´s why you kept speaking in Dutch even though we requested several times to speak in English so everyone was involved in the activity to create a nice group feeling and team work. But as we mentioned thank you for your feedback and happy travels!
