Things have changed since prior visits. Could have been because of National Congress meeting that day. Finding route to main entrance of Forbidden City and to Tiananmen Square was very difficult. Definitely need to book an appointment prior to going. Thankfully we had known based on other reviews. Our passport and visa were checked three times in trying to get there. Three different stops. Last stop. Bags were hand searched. Everything removed. Roll of electrical tape was confiscated.

Don’t use this service.
The company was super difficult to communicate with, instructions were poor,
One of my party was initially refused entrance because there was a screwup in passport numbers. It is my recommendation that Viator drop this supplier immediately.

In august the Tian’anmen Square and forbidden city are full of people and it is very smart booking it! Then you enter with your passport and if you come at 7:00AM at least you don’t have any problem

Unfortunately we cannot access the gate with tickets received as seems they were not connected with our passports! We had to pay again and onsite operator did not reply as well Viator operator pasted me information from the mail into WhatsApp thinking I’m stupid and I cannot understand the info shared from the agency. Crazy! I will never book again this way with Viator. Still angry and still waiting my refund

Completely useless.
We visited the forbidden city yesterday and didn't even need a ticket for it. All we had to do was show our passport and take a quick face scan. No ticket or purchase necessary whatsoever.
We actually knew this before, but viator did not let us get our money back. So that's just 40€ (for 2 people) for literally nothing.
Not satisfied, will not buy again.
Needless to say, I strongly recommend not buying these.
Forbidden city itself was beautiful though.

I took the tickets to the entrance after waiting in lines for a long time, and scanning the bar code showed I haven't purchased the tickets. Took them to the ticketing window and they told me they were fake. We ended up not going to the forbidden city because same day tickets are not available.

you must make something wrong, you need use the your passports to go into the forbidden city, no need any qr code. Please check again, did you show them your passports? if you give us wrong name or passports numbers?

A must see attraction in Beijing but be ready for the long queues and best to go when it's not too hot. Tiananman Square is massive and the Forbidden City is really a city and not a town, it's massive! You really need a whole day there if you want to cover it all. You'll need a guide if want want all the details and history. However if you just want to take a few photos at your own pace, you can do it without a guide.

Entrance to Forbidden City was obtained with passport as mentioned by the operator, and clarified on time on our request. Over 60 we were allowed to skip part of the queue.

Impossible to get tickets on official site...this is next best thing. Crowds at entrance, need to walk 1 km to get to entrance too. Allow plenty of time before ticket expires.

Brought 2 tickets with entry to the treasure gallery. Thing was that one wouldn't work for entry to the treasure gallery. Seems original tickets are resold here for more than 3x the amount of the original price.

Dear Sir, there are two Gallery, one is Treasure Gallery, one is Gallery of Clocks, please make sure you go to the right one. We found lots of Treasure Gallery tickets not used by the clients, since if you go into Forbidden City, you definetally can go into it. concern the price is higher than the original price due to we need lots of man power to book your tickets so there are services charge on that. you can book the original tickets without service charge at Forbbiden City website but I don't think you can get it. Thank you!

Of course nice place but impossible to get in Museum and mausolée!no possibilité to buy tickets! You have to tell people that ! Before!!! So they can buy them online 10 Days before!!! We bought 2tours just to see that and no way!

Algo menos de lo que esperaba, puede que mis expectativas fueran muy altas. En general es una visita agradable si vas bien preparado (indispensable calzado cómodo y gorra). Hay muchísima gente (sábado) pero no tienes sensación de agobio.
Al final se hace monótona la visita, y lo que es realmente una lástima es no poder entrar en los grandes palacios para ver los tronos y decoración interior.

Je suis relativement mitigée. On ne reçoit aucune information de la part du prestataire et n’ai reçu aucune réponse à ma question envoyée.
Pour la Cité Interdite tout s’est bien passé mais pour la place Tienanmen c’est une autre histoire! Il me semble que le billet devait être inclus (nous avions pris l’option avec) mais impossible de scanner notre passeport car étranger et on avait l’impression que les gardes étaient autant perdus que nous. Je ne suis pas sûre que la réservation soit passée.

Super makkelijk. Alleen je paspoort laten zien bij de ingang.
Houd rekening met lange wachttijden om tianmen plein op te komen. Tegenwoordig moet je registreren. Zou daar starten en dan verboden stad doen. Eind middag plein “dicht”.

Le jour J, entrée comme prévue sur présentation des passeports. C'est tout. C'est très simple.
Pas d'attente à l'entrée (vers 8h45-9h).
Une fois dans la cité, vous pouvez acheter pour quelques yuans les entrées à la salle des trésors et à celle des horloges, à proximité de ces salles.
