We really enjoyed learning about the history and developments of premium chocolate and learned much from the experience. We also enjoyed learning about local Swiss’s cheeses. Highly recommended tour.

    Dont waste your time

    ElizabethBetsy_R, Dec 2025
We were squished 12 on a hard wooden bench - the presenter didn’t have much energy as he spoke slowly with long pauses while he decided which chocolate to present next. The chocolate didn’t taste that good and certainly didn’t represent Swiss chocolate. The guy was pleasant and very friendly. But that said, it is clear he just started making chocolate last August and he is using tourists for seed money for his company.

    Response from Host, Jan 2026

We’re sorry to hear that the experience didn’t meet your expectations. The price you paid (between CHF 6–12 per person) includes a tasting of 5 handcrafted, bean-to-bar chocolates and truffles, all of which are made in-house using carefully sourced ingredients. The production of each batch of chocolate takes up to 5 days, with an additional day required for the truffles to rest and develop their full flavor and texture — this is not a process we rush. The purpose of the tasting is not profit — in fact, at this price point, it does not cover the cost of ingredients, preparation, and service. We do it because we’re passionate about chocolate and love sharing this experience with guests from all over the world. Seating in the room is for up to 15 people, and we do our best to accommodate all guests comfortably. The chocolates are placed just before the tasting begins to ensure they are at the correct room temperature, as chocolate should not be served cold. We’re sorry if the pace of the presentation didn’t meet your expectations — we try to adjust based on the group’s energy and engagement. In this session, we also adapted the selection based on guest preferences and allergies, which may have contributed to some pauses between servings. While it’s true our chocolate production began publicly in August, it followed many months of testing, and development, and we are proud of how far we’ve come. We don’t hide that we are a young brand — in fact, we believe part of the charm of this tasting is seeing a real artisan business being built from the ground up with purpose. Many guests enjoy this behind-the-scenes insight and choose to support us because of it. As for the chocolate itself, we understand that taste is subjective. The chocolates presented during the session are crafted using high-quality single-origin cacao, produced in small batches without additives — very different from mass-produced “commercial Swiss chocolate.” For some guests, the flavors may be more subtle or unexpected than the familiar taste of supermarket brands, but they represent a growing movement of artisan Swiss chocolate makers who prioritize origin, ethics, and process.

    A nice small place for...

    Dunja_M, Nov 2025
A nice small place for not more then 10 people. There were 13 of us. A bit crowded. Tasted cocoa beans and 5 types of chocolate. Samples could have been a bit bigger.

    Response from Host, Nov 2025

The truffles and chocolate you tasted are all handmade, bean-to-bar, using high-quality cacao sourced and crafted entirely in-house as mentioned in the tasting. The room is designed to comfortably seat up to 15 guests, and on the day of your visit, we hosted 13 people—still within capacity. As part of the tasting, you also received a truffle of your choice, which in this case was a Moët & Chandon champagne truffle, made with our fine chocolate and real champagne. At just CHF 6 per person paid through Viator, the value of the chocolate served far exceeds the price paid—but we offer this as a tasting experience, not a profit-driven activity, because we love what we do and enjoy sharing it with others. We appreciate your visit and hope you left with a deeper appreciation for fine Swiss chocolate!

    Chocolate tasting in Basle

Fantastic experience. An informative and enjoyable taster session in a friendly relaxed environment.

Great chocolate tasting experience in Basel - worth the time and money!! Don't pass this one up!

    Kirstie_R, Jan 2025
We were in Basel for a day before we embarked on our river cruise on the Rhine River. We booked this chocolate tasting to learn more about chocolate and do something in our short time in Basel. The owner/operator of the chocolate tasting was friendly and very informed about the science about cocoa bean and the chocolate making process. We were able to try many different chocolates made from cocoa beans from around the world. This was a great experience. He also told us how to properly store chocolate to ensure the best tasting experiences. We also booked the cheese tasting which was also provided by the same operator in the same location. If you are going to do the chocolate tasting, book the cheese tasting as well. One bird, two stones. Both were great experiences and worth the money and time.

    Great Experience

We arrived at the meeting location 15 minutes early and stayed 15 minutes after scheduled time, no one showed at to do the tasting. The store had a closed sign. I have requested at refund

    Response from Host, Dec 2024

We are sorry to hear that you arrived and the tasting location was closed. Upon checking, we had advised Viator, where you booked this experience, that it is not operating on this particular day. The best is to always reach out to us at booking@tours-of-switzerland.com - This allows for better communication and no miscommunications either. You are also welcome to join the same tasting on a different day We wish you happy holidays and safe travels!

Don't Expect Sympathy Even After Death

My mom and I were really excited for this tour until her dad suddenly passed away hours before, and we didn't know what to do. I canceled the rest of our flights and hotels and asked to get this tour refunded as well. They said no and that they could've just moved the tour to another day for us. What an awful and strange response. I'm glad this wasn't an experience we had paid tons for, but a heads-up to be aware of the people behind it. If the guides are anything like them, the only tasting you'll get on this tour are of their sour and salty attitudes.

    Response from Host, Jul 2024

Thank you for your review, and we are once again very sorry for your loss. We only asked if you would like to move the 30-minute tasting because you joined a 9-hour Mt. Pilatus tour the next day, which confused us greatly when wanting to cancel a 30-45 minute tasting booked at the last minute and canceled 30 minutes before—yet joining a full-day tour. We understand you may be grieving, but to attack our morals when our guide accommodating every need required on our Mt. Pilatus tour the next day isn't right; we care GREATLY for all our clients. All our prayers go to you and your family, and we remain entirely available for support at booking@tours-of-switzerland.com

Had het anders verwacht ! Zeker omdat ik met kinderen was . Is meer voor volwassenen niets voor kinderen.

    Response from Host, Aug 2024

I'm sorry to hear we felt short of your expectations for the total of CHF 6 that you paid for a high-quality (Grand Cru) Swiss chocolate tasting. You mentioned to the store keeper that this was suppose to be a birthday present, even though from our records you booked 1h before the tasting time slot. Furthermore, we saw no mention of this through this Viator booking. We always have many families, and they enjoy the chocolate and the time spent. If you had any expectations, this should have been advised before either to booking@tours-of-switzerland.com or via the Viator messaging app. I strongly feel the rating you provided doesn't reflect your kid's experience, as they said they liked the chocolates and even asked for more, which was given at no extra cost.
