    Very Disappointed

    Conrad_B, Dec 2025
We have used Viator many times over the past years in many foreign countries as well as our own. I cannot describe how disappointed I am this time with Viator. We were scheduled for the "Bean to Bar Chocolate Making Workshop" in Basel Switzerland. We had a printed ticket and email confirmation that he time was 1500 and the location was Tinguely-Brunnen, Klostergasse 7 in Basel. We had researched that location so we knew where it was and how long a taxi ride would be. At 1400, I received a text stating that the time was 1430 and we were to meet at Basel SBB at Migros Flower Shop. Having arrived in Basel that morning, we had no idea where or what Basel SBB was. We finally found out that it was the train station, which was very large. The taxi driver pointed us in the direction of Migos Flower Shop. Once we found it at 1450, no one from Viator was there. We asked the lady at the Flower shop if she might know where to go. I was rudely told to go upstairs and look for a chocolate shop. We did find a chocolate shop BUT, it was NOT the one we needed. No one from Viator texted me back when I let them know we were on our way and that we had arrived. Extremely poor service!! Hopefully our other tours with Viator on this trip have better results.

We’re very sorry to hear about your experience and understand how confusing and disappointing it must have been — especially when you had been looking forward to the workshop. We’d like to clarify that Tours of Switzerland is the local operator, while Viator is a third-party reseller. Unfortunately, in rare cases, the updated tour time and meeting point do not get reflected properly on the reseller’s side, which can understandably lead to confusion. This is why we always recommend guests contact us directly after booking, and we also send a separate confirmation with the correct meeting time and exact location, which is also listed on our website: https://tours-of-switzerland.com/meeting-locations/ We’re very sorry if the communication reached you too late from the reseller or wasn’t clearly labeled. Our team was present at the meeting point and guided other guests from that location successfully. We truly regret the inconvenience and missed opportunity, and we’d love the chance to welcome you on a future visit. If you’d like to discuss this further or reschedule your experience, please feel free to reach out to us directly at info@tours-of-switzerland.com.

    Unique chocolatier experience

Fun, educational and hands on experience during which you will make your own chocolates to take home. The guide meets you at SBB and takes you to their shop outside the city center by train. They also escorted us back to the original location. It was great time and highly recommend.

    No notice cancellation - disappointing

I was looking forward to the experience but Tours of Switzerland sent a cancellation notice 55 minutes before the tour was due to start. Unfortunately, with this short notice, I was not able to book into anything else for the day. Very disappointed in the lack of notice since I would be required to provide them with at least 24 hours notice for the same. Two other women were waiting with me at the tour meetup (I didn’t see the email until the tour was due to start and no guide was there) and were originally scheduled for the prior day, which was also cancelled at a moments notice.

    Response from Host, Jan 2026

We’re sorry for the disruption caused, and we completely understand your disappointment. Please note that the cancellation of the tour was due to an unexpected delay in our bean-to-bar chocolate production, which made it impossible to provide the quality experience we promise our guests. This was not a last-minute oversight — we informed the reseller (Viator) a couple of days prior so that guests could be notified in a timely manner and rescheduling or refund options could be arranged. Unfortunately, we have no control over how or when the reseller communicates cancellations to guests. This is why we always recommend booking directly with us when possible, so we can ensure smoother communication and quicker support. We recognize how frustrating it is to have plans changed, especially with little time to find alternatives, and we truly regret the impact it had on your day. If you’d like to join us for a future experience, we’d be happy to offer a direct discount or private session. Please reach out to us at hello@chaasundschoggi.com and we’ll do our best to make it right. Thank you again for your feedback — we’re constantly improving to better serve our guests.

    100% Worth it!

Jade and Valter made this experience amazing! They are both very knowledgeable about the process and explain everything well. It was such a cool experience and I would absolutely do it again! It is in a small room so it felt more intimate, which I did like!

You have to know that it's...

You have to know that it is a young company that takes place event outside Basel. The actual experience makes up for everything. We were warmly welcomed, we were shown with a lot of passion and great commitment the production of the exceptionally good chocolate and we were allowed to make our own chocolate ourselves. It was very entertaining and entertaining. We have received a lot of information about cultivation, harvesting, transport and processing. It is worth it!!! This chocolate is very special!!!
