We had a fantastic day out exploring Lucerne and Interlaken. The scenery from the trains are beautiful (not just the panoramic train but the return journey too). The day was long, but felt effortless, all planned and ran smoothly by our warm and welcoming guide, John. We learnt a lot about the Swiss towns, had some scrumptious chocolate, and enough free time to wander. We really enjoyed our day and would highly recommend Viva tours and John.
Note that if you have suitcases/luggage that you don't want to take with you, there is luggage storage in Basel train station. Very easy to use and cost us 8 chf for the full day for an XL locker which fit a suitcase, hand luggage and 2 bags (with room to spare).

Nico was amazing!! He connected well with everyone. He was very knowledgeable. Loved the tour bet pretty!
Our trip to Lucerne and Interlaken was action-packed! I went with my 71-year-old parents and we all loved it. The train ride was relaxing, and our guide, Juliana, did a great job making sure we knew when to get off and sharing information about the sights along the way.
Lucerne was definitely the highlight, and I honestly wish we had more time there! The guided portion includes visits to two churches, which was a nice introduction to the city. Interlaken was also nice to see, but we had very little free time there—probably only about 20 minutes. If you have a sweet tooth, be sure to check out Vittorio Vanni for some delicious Swiss chocolate!
There was quite a bit of walking in both cities, so come prepared. Overall, this was a great way to see both places in one day, and I would definitely recommend this trip!
We had the best tour guide I’ve ever had on a trip. He was well informed, friendly and patient with all our questions. I would highly recommend taking this tour with Nico! It was a speculation day from beginning to end.

The view depends on the coach assigned by the railway. Not all are panoramic, but do have large windows.

Julianna was the perfect tour guide! She was very sweet, patient, and knowledgeable! She handled all of the logistics of the trains and everything went very smoothly! The train ride was clean, comfortable and perfect for viewing the amazing scenery! Time allowed in Lucerne and Interloken great for grabbing a bite to eat and souvenir shopping! I highly recommend this tour in you are in Basel and want to see two spectacular Switzerland towns!

It was a full day. We toured city of Lucerne, beautiful city. The panoramic train to Interlaken was wonderful. Our tour guide Julianna went above & beyond to give us information about the area, she was lovely. Great experience, I would recommend especially if you have never been to Switzerland.

This tour was one of the best we’ve done and has been a highlight of our short stay in Switzerland.
Petra, our guide, was lovely and very knowledgeable and well organized throughout. The trains both from Basel, then Zurich, were clean and puntual and the views from the panoramic train from Lucerne to Interlaken were spectacular! Both Lucerne and Interlaken are charming and it was well worth the travel to visit them.
One small hiccup was the notification of the meeting time change in the morning by almost an hour earlier than originally scheduled. . It was only pure luck that we happened to check the Viator App on the morning of the tour and saw the message. We had already gotten our tickets earlier and stowed them in our phone wallet. So ordinarily wouldn’t have checked the app and would’ve missed the meeting time.
Please Viator, send late changes to your itinerary to email in future!!

Juliana is a great guide and we enjoyed the tour. Lucerne is a charming town with a lot of history. Interlaken, on the other hand, is essentially a tourist town with a lot of hotels.

This was an excursion by train from Basel with Lucerne as a first destination. Our guide, Juliana, led us to the important sites of the city. It was rainy off and on but it didn’t diminish her enthusiasm. We opted to stay with her rather than use some free time. Then we boarded the panoramic train for the trip to Interlaken. Juliana made sure we got the best seats. Train ride was filled with beautiful scenery. Then we arrived at Interlaken. Juliana led us through the town. High point was watching paragliders land. We had some free time to shop and back on train for return to Basel. The trip was great even though the weather was definitely mixed. Kudos to Juliana for making it all work.

We did this as a day trip because we were staying in Basel for just a few days. This was a fantastic experience to see the countryside and other parts of Switzerland. There is quite a bit of walking, which I enjoyed however some in the group had a difficult time. Additionally, there isnt a ton of free time to shop or experience the small towns.
Overall,, a great experience to learn more about Switzerland, highly recommend!
