I was hesitant to write a review about this tour, but I would be remiss if I did not share my experience. From the minute our tour guide arrived, it seemed he was annoyed with my group (which included two young kids, that I mentioned in my notes and paid full price for). We were told the "rules" of the tour, which included no eating or drinking in the car. That's fine. But that was the extent of the information provided. There was little to no actual "guidance" and more so just a ride to the various places were were interested in seeing (I mentioned one place specifically and asked for a "best of" because I am not familiar with the island). I could have just paid less for a taxi. We visited the Animal Flower Cave and were not told that it would NOT be a good idea to hike down into the cave with our children, wearing flip flops. Our guide answered questions, but provided no information unless prompted. No conversation, tips or anything on the long drive. A very strange experience from a tour guide.

Thank you for your review. While I respect that experiences can be subjective, several points in your account require clarification.
At no point was I annoyed with your group. Towels were placed on the seats solely to protect the vehicle’s upholstery, as the child seats and stroller were visibly soiled. Maintaining the integrity and cleanliness of the vehicle is not only standard practice, but something many guests specifically appreciate for their own comfort and for that of future clients.
The vehicle rules regarding food and drink were clearly explained because there were snacks and beverages present and that mixed with very small children is a recipe for disaster. These rules are in place to preserve the condition of the vehicle and ensure a pleasant experience for all guests, current and future alike. Any discomfort with this was not communicated directly at the time.
I made multiple attempts to engage your group in conversation and to share information about the island during the drive. These efforts were frequently interrupted by one of the children, and conversation did not naturally flow and continue as a result. Please note here there's a difference between curiosity and inquiry versus disruptive interrupting. I avoid speaking over guests or talking at length without engagement, but I was always attentive and responsive when questions were asked which you did confirm.
Regarding Animal Flower Cave, I did not notice your footwear. The site itself offers appropriate footwear for purchase, and visitors commonly assess for themselves whether entering the cave is suitable based on comfort and ability.
There was also noticeable tension within your group throughout the tour, which contributed to an unusual atmosphere. At one point, I was forced to intervene firmly when a child repeatedly pulled on a part of the vehicle that could have caused irreparable damage, after several requests from the parent were ignored.
I take pride in providing professional, safe, and respectful tours and have successfully guided many families with children. While I regret that this experience did not meet your expectations, the implication of disinterest or poor service and value for money is entirely inaccurate and may tacitly reveal why you were hesitant in leaving the review you did.

Tour operator cancelled the tour the night before after I messaged explaining the ship ports at 9am. I booked the “private customizable tour” so it was unclear why starting a 1/2 hour later would be a problem. The itinerary could have been easily adapted and shortened as we had nothing specific in mind to see. Additionally, this happened on Christmas Day when much of the city was closed and tour choices were limited. The good news is there were plenty of professional tour operators available at the port offering the same tour for 1/3 of the price! I’m still waiting on my refund.

As I mentioned during our previous exchanges, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the cancellation of your tour.
Our tours typically begin at 8:30 am, and your request to adjust the start time to 9:30 or 10 am came at very short notice. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, it was not possible to make the necessary adjustments within such a limited timeframe.
Given the time constraints and the fact that your tour was scheduled to last four hours, I did not feel comfortable offering a service that might have felt rushed or incomplete. This is why I recommended reaching out to Viator support for a refund. I have since confirmed with Viator that your refund was processed on Christmas Day. Should you encounter any challenges, I encourage you to follow up with them directly, as I have no control over their processing timelines.
I am disappointed that your review did not mention that I took the time to inform you about alternative tour options available at the port to ensure you could still enjoy your day. I am, however, glad to hear that you found a tour option that suited both your preferences and your budget.
The decision to cancel your tour was not made lightly or selfishly but rather with the intention of upholding the quality and integrity of the experiences we aim to provide.
While I wish the full context of the situation had been reflected in your review, I appreciate your comments, as they help us refine our processes and better address challenging client requests in the future.

Kevin was our tour guide and he was fantastic. He allowed us fully customize our trip and then made it possible to see everything we wanted to see within the allotted time. Seeing the monkeys at feeding time at the wildlife nature reserve was fantastic. They are literally within your reach, but definitely remember they are still wild animals. Great opportunity to make memorable pictures and videos with these remarkable creatures. After some great sightseeing along the wonderful West Coast of Barbados, we also stopped at Hunte’s Garden. If you like plants and trees, this is a wonderful stop. You can get lost in this place! It is a lush tropical paradise that Mr. Hunte created over many, many years. Definitely spend some time here. Too many things to list but definitely grab Kevin as your personal tour guide for this wonderful island.

From the moment we set off in our comfortable van with our driver Kevin, the journey was filled with nice views and interesting photo stops.
One of our stops was National Heroes Square, where we learned about the history of Barbados and its heroes. The Parliament Buildings nearby showcases the architecture that reflects the island’s heritage. We also made our way to the Historic St. John’s Parish Church.
One of the unique features of our trip was seeing the mushroom rocks. These natural formations were truly a sight to behold, a testament to the island’s geological wonders.
Throughout the excursion, Kevin was exceptional. His knowledge and enthusiasm brought each location to life, and he ensured we were comfortable and well-informed throughout the journey.
Overall, this scenic shore excursion was a nice way to explore the beauty and history of Barbados. I recommend it for anyone looking to experience the island’s highlights from the comfort of a guided tour.

We were a little apprehensive about booking a private tour, but Kevin was great. He arrived on time, his people carrier was immaculate inside and out and he was dressed very smart. He asked if there was anywhere in particular we would like to visit, but we said we were happy for him just to decide.
