The truffle-hunting experience at Les Pastras in November was absolutely fantastic: Johann and his crew did a wonderful job of explaining the cultivation of truffles, taking us out with the dogs to search for this "black gold", and serving delicious truffle hors d'oeuvre and champagne. This was probably our most memorable adventure while in Provence...highly recommended!!!

Highlight of our trip to Provence! Couldn’t have had a more perfect day. From the welcoming entrance to the champagne and truffle goodbye; this is an experience you won’t want to miss! The explanation of terroir, the hunt, and the correct usage of the truffles once found was executed in an educational and entertaining way keeping us laughing for hours. Did I mention the cute truffle hunting dogs? Adorable!

Best experience in the Luberon! Johann is wonderful and so knowledgeable—you will learn so much. The hunt with the dogs was so fun, and after you get to top it off with the finest shaved black truffles, infusions and champagne. Incredible experience.

We didn't know what to expect from this program. It is held at a working truffle farm. You literally go out to the fields with the dogs and the farmers seeking truffles and learning about how they grow, how they are found, and how they are prepared to eat. Then, you have a veritable feast! It was a great experience!

My daughter and I had a fantastic experience on this tour. The tour was a small group, and we learned a lot from the farmer and his dogs and how he got into the truffle farming business. They take years to grow, and the dogs can sniff them out at the optimal time for harvest. No wonder they are so expensive! The best part was sampling truffles in several different ways. I would highly recommend this tour!

This tour was on our bucket list- and it surpassed all of our expectations. Johan was a fabulous guide, was extremely knowledgeable, fun, and catered to each individual. He even helped us figure out a transportation issue! The fresh truffles and tastings were fantastic. Truffle tasting the French way! We will never buy a fake truffle again! Fabulous tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We had about an hour learning about truffles, their history in France and how they are farmed now (very interesting) then about an hour truffle hunting with the dogs under the oak trees in a field (found several!) then another hour tasting truffles on bread, on ice cream and on cheese. Also tried truffle infused oil, salt and honey. Learned so much about how to use truffles in the kitchen, how to spot that the truffles are fresh in a restaurant and how to spot fake truffle products. You could also buy their truffles, honey, salt and oil. It would probably be a bit boring for children but if you’re a foodie and like to learn new things then I’d definitely recommend this tour. I loved it, a real highlight of my holiday.

Cannot recommend this tour enough! It was super cool to learn about the history and economics of the truffle industry, watch the dogs find truffles, and of course taste some amazing fresh truffles at the end. Johann is hilarious and personable, and the dogs are adorable. A great experience from start to finish!

What an incredible experience! Our host's expertise on truffles was truly impressive, and their professionalism was balanced perfectly with a charming sense of humor. We felt like we were delving deep into the world of truffles, gaining firsthand knowledge that you just can't get anywhere else. And let's not forget the numerous delicious truffle snacks paired with Champagne!! This experience elevated our appreciation for food to a whole new level, and we can't wait to share the memories with our friends. I can’t recommend it enough!!

A fantastic morning spent in the field watching the dogs discover and dig truffles. Coupled with the excellent education provided and tastings afterwards we now have a fundamental knowledge of how this unique fungus is cultivated and how to use it in recipes. Great value for money and entertaining.

One of our favorite things we have done in France. The host is delightful and funny. The dogs are amazing to watch and so lovable and adorable.The truffle appetizers were delicious along with the champagne. I would highly recommend this activity!

By far the best and most memorable experience we had on our trip. Our kids (ages 9 and 11) had a blast. The truffle hunt with the dogs was incredible and the truffle tasting was so much fun. Highly recommend this!!

This tour was so much fun! Johann was a wonderful host and I learned so much about truffles and truffle hunting. First, he gave us a lesson in truffles and farming truffles and then he let us get to know his adorable truffle hunting dogs (Mirabel, Caramel and Eclair). The truffle hunting itself is exciting as the dogs move from place to place. Post truffle hunting, Johann served up champagne and plenty of different tastes of truffles. He explained what to look for when buying truffles or truffle oil, etc. and answered any other questions. Overall, I learned so much, ate some great food and had an absolutely delightful time. I highly recommend this tour!

I can’t recommend this experience enough. Seriously, bucket list. I came here with my wife and her sister for my wife’s 40th birthday, and had such a great time. Johann, the host, is hysterical and welcoming, phase 1) he taught us everything there is to know about truffles, phase 2) takes you hunting for truffles with dogs which is amazing and phase 3) serves you a million truffle apps and champagne over a beautiful view from the farm. Literally a perfect experience. If you’re wondering what to wear, you can wear whatever, just comfortable shoes, but you won’t get muddy or sweaty. Thank you Johann!
