Upon arrival in Ålesund cruise terminal, meet your guide and settle into your comfortable coach for a day exploring Trollstigen, the Land of the Trolls. Your first stop will be the old Skodje Bridge, around 15 minutes away, where you can enjoy a short walk. There will be a few more stops for fjord and river gorge views, and a small Norwegian-style lunch, before arriving at Trollstigen.
You’ll spend the majority of your time at the viewpoints overlooking Trollstigen. You’ll get great views and photos of the impressive mountain pass’ 11 twisting hairpin bends that travel up the Romsdalen valley, as well as the surrounding mountains and waterfalls.
After a final stop for views, snacks, and souvenirs at Trollstigen Gjestegård, it’s back on the coach for the journey back to Ålesund cruise terminal.

We had a great trip with Local Trips AS. Trond Klokkersund was an amazing guide and kept us on schedule. The stops were all wonderful with none that wasted our time. A very well-organized tour, with great communication from the organizer before departure. The trip was in a comfortable van that stopped at places inaccessible to regular buses. Trond is a fantastic guide—funny and outgoing—and he knows a lot of facts and interesting tidbits. The route itself was fantastic. I highly recommend it!

We have 7 stops on this trip.
The main stop is at the top of Trollstigen Roads.

At the primary viewing stop there are quite a few steps. They are paved and there is a railing on one side. Several lower viewing platforms if you don't or can't go all the way to top.
Our guide was a local Norwegian and said all their guides were local.
We rode in comfortable mini-bus.
Three mini-buses in our group. Made getting on and off quicker compared to large bus.
Our guide gave us lots of good information. They also give you a nice pamphlet describing each stop. This tour operator is very well- organized and easy to find after our ship docked.

Gorgeous views and very organized. They have exact directions and really spotted to find our tour. They travel in sprinter vans so easily to get in and out. The guide gives clear directions and pointers.

Our guide, Morten was excellent. He’s professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The van and the ride was so smooth even though it was such a difficult and narrow path. I who easily get motion sickness didn’t feel a bit as Morten is a great experienced driver. The van conditions is great and we all sat comfortably especially there was only one more lady besides the two of us. We felt like the VIP 😄 This arrangement is way better than a big bus. I went for one yesterday and I felt nauseous afterwards. The places Morten brought us to were beautiful and memorable. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Ålesund. A must do. Thanks Morten and it was so nice meeting you.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that we would be on mini vans traveling in a caravan, as opposed to being on the bus. Taking that Troll road on a bus, looked a little bit daunting, and the views from the van were excellent. We also enjoyed all of the stops, the history, and the suggestions on what great food items we need to try at each location.

We got picked up at our port right outside the boat ramp. Very easy and convenient. Our driver Vonce was very informative. Unfortunately the fog was too dense to see the main attraction. There were a few stops that the weather did not affect. Worth it for sure as I can imagine that if the weather would have cooperated that the views would have been amazing.

Great trip. The road had just reopened and, of course, some more rocks fell and it was closed so we didn't get to drive down the bottom and have a look see. On the bright side, the visitor center is at the top. There are shops, food and restrooms. You can take off your shoes and wade around in the stream above the falls. Definitely take the trail out to far viewpoint for a great view of the valley below. I was told that driving down takes awhile and if rocks fall or a car has issues it slows way down and you may be stuck there for a long time. That would be worse for me. The stops along the way were fun and had some nice views but trollsteigen is the jewel.

Trollstgen is wonderful, but the opening date of the road changes from year to year.
We sell tickets from 1th of May.
If the road is open, we go.
If it is closed, we offer a trip to Norangsdalen instead, same timing and just as beautiful.

Trond was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Gave us plenty of time at the stops to see the amazing scenery. Small group van was very comfortable and clean. Picnic lunch was good. Our cruise ship changed times and tour adjusted to the new schedule with no problems. We got a little rain on the tour but they had umbrellas if you needed to borrow one. Picked us up at the dock and got us back with plenty of time to spare. Overall a great tour.

A wonderful scenic trip from Ålesund to Trollstigen with stops at amazing waterfalls and the best photo opportunities. Our guide and driver Trond was a wealth of information on the area, and Norway in general and we learnt so much.
The itinerary was clear and adhered to. We felt confident that we would make our "back on board" time for our cruise.
