Our family decided to try pottery with a local master. It was the best experience we had in Faro. Well organised. A lot of fun with an amazing teacher. The entire experience was something we won‘t forget. Our pieces were made with love and we look forward to displaying them.

We had the most amazing day! We got to make pottery in any design we wanted. We were shown how to do it and helped along the way and we were given homemade snacks and refreshments.

This experience was incredible! Francisco from Algarvian Roots met me with a smile and a great vibe at the entrance of Jose Simoes, a well known ceramist’s beautiful villa and there began my best afternoon in Portugal. Francisco and Jose worked together in explaining techniques and best practices. Francisco acting as translator at times while I watched and tried to replicate Jose’s mastery. We made fish bowls, a leaf bowl using a leaf from the stunning mature garden surrounding our pottery poolside studio. The highlight was working with the wheel and having never really done that before we all laughed while making a design I chose. Time flew by and I felt so much joy when I saw the pieces created. The afternoon ended as fabulously as it began. I think Jose enjoyed my interest in his work and garden. showing me prize winning sculptures and trees from foreign origins and I gobbled down delicious fig treats, cake(sooo good) and watermelon all made by his hand. I want to especially thank Francisco from being especially helpful in translating although Jose does speak and understand English very well. Thank you Jose for giving a lifetime treasured memory and I highly recommend this workshop and any ecotourism experience Francisco’s company operates. Fantastic teamwork and good fun for everyone. Since the tour Francisco has sent me photos and updates on the firing. 100% for effort:-)
