Overview

The Portuguese coast near Albufeira is home to the Benagil Caves—a huge sea cave with a cathedral-like circular roof opening—and pods of dolphins if you can reach them. This boat tour visits both, stopping at the caves and cruising along the coast in a semi-rigid boat from Albufeira to Alfanzina to see dolphins in their natural habitat in just a few hours.

Fantastic Boat Trip to Benagil Cave

I had an amazing experience on this boat trip to the Benagil Cave in the Algarve. The limestone coastline was absolutely stunning, and because we were on a smaller speed boat, we were able to get much closer to the caves than the larger boats could—making the whole experience feel even more special. The staff were friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable, sharing lots of interesting information along the way. A real highlight was unexpectedly spotting a pod of wild dolphins who put on a little show for us—an unforgettable moment! One thing to keep in mind: the trip lasts about two hours with no bathroom stops, so it might not be ideal for anyone with bladder issues. Otherwise, I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a beautiful and memorable adventure along the Algarve coast.

So well organised even down to the accompanying music! Journey out spectacular with great views of dolphins. Caves were beautiful and the commentary interesting but not too much so we could still enjoy the peace. Exciting end with a few sharp turns. A brilliant, well-priced experience. Thank you.

By far the best experience. So impressed with the language skills (English, French, and Spanish were spoken on our trip). The crew was amazing, we got to see dolphins as well (right up alongside our boat). The crew had a great sense of humor and really took care of all the guests very well. 10/10 recommend using OceanEye!

This was a great tour. First we cruised out into the ocean a ways to an area where they expected to see dolphins. We were very lucky and we saw many dolphins, including a baby, just playing and jumping in the water. It was so much fun! Then we traveled back to shore and visited the Benagil cave. It was awesome. We viewed several other rock formations along the shore as well. We stopped for a quick swim and then back to the docks. The boat was on the smaller side, only sat about 14 people. It was the perfect size to get into the caves. I didn't want to be on a big boat with lots of people. The guides were awesome.

Went on Oceaneye. Great small company with only one boat. Friendly fun staff, fun boat trip with not too many people. Great music! Loved stopping for a 5 minute swim. All the caves were amazing and we got to see loads of dolphins. Thoroughly enjoyed our trip.

A must-do in the Algarve

This was a great tour. Good sized boat that could go in the caves, fun music, and friendly guide. My kids loved jumping off the boat into the water to cool off mid-trip (optional) but the dolphins were the real highlight! While there is no guarantee to see them we got lucky and saw many and they were so beautiful I teared up. When we got back to the dock everyone clapped and cheered as we all had a great time. Highly recommended!

Fun trip along the coast. Friendly guide. We saw numerous dolphins. Caves and coastal scenery impressive. Bouncy journey over the waves with good music. May not be suited to those with sensitive spines or stomachs!
