Can be visited in 5 minutes and it should be free

Brahim_B, Aug 2020
I think the entrance should be free for this garden. It is small and there are no flowers in the garden

Hi there, Thank you for your visit to Nikka Yuko and for providing us with feedback. We’re sorry to hear you didn’t feel the experience was worth the admission. As a non profit organization we rely on our admissions to allow for the unique daily programming, events, performances, and cultural demonstrations that we offer throughout the season. It also helps us hire knowledgeable staff that can explain the garden’s history and significance to all our guests. I hope you were able to read through the comprehensive self-guided tour brochure provided to all guests, or listened to our free audio tours that can help guests understand the meaning behind the garden and highlight the distinct Japanese designs and philosophies used inside Nikka Yuko. Flowers are not typically found in a Japanese garden, however we do have blossoms in the spring and peonies in July. Additionally, many guests are surprised to know that our garden is much larger than many Japanese gardens in Japan. The focus of Nikka Yuko is on our Canadian garden pruned in an authentic Japanese style as well as the significance of the garden as a symbol of friendship between Japan and Canada. We would like to hear more about your visit to the garden so that we can work towards providing a better experience to our guests in the future. We invite you to call us at 403-328-3511 or email marketing@nikkayuko.com with any concerns you have. Thank you!

Response from Host, Aug 2020

Hi there, Thank you for visiting our garden and taking time to write a review. We're sorry that we were unable to meet your expectations during your visit. As is common in many traditional Japanese gardens, we don't have flowers year-round. We have our apple blossoms in the spring and peonies in July, but otherwise, the focus is on the pruning and design and other horticultural aspects of the garden. Your admission also includes access to our exhibits and the daily programming happening at the garden during your visit and any performances or demonstrations. Again, we're sorry we were unable to meet your expectations but would be happy to talk to you if you have any suggestions or concerns that we could improve on. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us at any time at marketing@nikkayuko.com or call us at 403-328-3511.
