The gondola is part of the Lake Louise ski area and is the only way of heading up the mountain in the summer as walking is not possible due to the creation of wildlife corridors.
The base station area is not very attractive ( find ski areas rarely are without the snow) however its spacious , with cafes and toilets and lots of parking. There was no queue to board and you could choose an enclosed gondola or chair - so glad we picked the chair as 1/2 way up we got to see a grizzly bear feasting on the flowers below us. At the top there are views across to Lake Louise itself which gives an idea of the scale of the mountains, glacier and lake. You can take a short walk to a cafe/restaurant but this closes earlier than the lift so keep an eye on timings if you want to visit. Plenty of smaller wildlife to spot.

Strongly suggest this in tandem with lunch at Whitehorn Bistro…hard to believe their food and cocktails are that delicious up there and the view is spectacular of Lake Louise

This was an easy adventure. Wasn’t crowded at all. You have the choice of an enclosed gondola or the ski lift. Take the ski lift if you are brave. We actually saw a grizzly bear, eating berries below us in the open grassy areas, which was amazing.

Beautiful lodge and great views of Lake Louise. Not much to do at the top and you can’t really get into Lake Louise after 5 with an RV unless spending a lot of money to get a shuttle. It is difficult to figure out the transportation system. We were even staying in Lake Louise.

We loved the open air gondola. It was wonderful! Gorgeous views at the top! The food and cocktails at the Whitehorn Restaurant were delicious. Couldn’t have asked for a better day.

We were unable to see the lake due to snowy weather but that was perfectly fine for us. It was beautiful with the snow and the landscape of the area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a coffee and an apple muffin at the snack bar and it was really good. We had no problems getting our tickets and boarding the gondola.

The option to ride an open or closed coach was nice. The view was also nice although I think the Banff gondola has a more beautiful view.

The view is amazing as you go up as is the hike down. We had a load time of 9:10 but we were early. They were very flexible and let us go early. The 15 minute movie in the museum at the top of the mountain is good. Definitely an activity you should try to Fit in.

We rode the open chair lift instead of the gondola. That made the experience move from great to outstanding! Nice walk at the top for a great view accompanied By lunch and a beverage. On the way down we watched Lake Louise gradually disappear! Do it!

It was bad weather for us so we did not enjoy our gondola ride. We had rain and clouds. So you really didn’t see anything. The only plus was we could go at any time not the time we selected. So that way we could try to go when the rain wasn’t Heavy.

Took the gondola up the ski hill.
It was a misty day but we were able to see Lake Louise . The animal exhibit was great.
We had a nice lunch at the restaurant.
Would have done a longer hike but forgot to bring bear spray.

The scenery was spectacular, the setting perfect and the whole process was simple. Sat at the centre itself, in the sun looking up at the tree filled slopes with a hot chocolate was heavenly.

Hailstorm came through as we just arrived up the mountain. Had to take shuttle back down.

It’s old and view sucked. Small platform and the gondolas look like they r from 1970. Don’t waste your money.

The views were out of this world. Real blue lake waters and snow covered mountains. Must see. During our visit it was cloudy and rained some. However the lake shore trail was great.

The trip up the mountain was certainly value for money.
Staff were very helpful and we were able to venture onto the walking trails.
A must do if you are visiting Lake Louise.

Although it was a drizzly day at the bottom, at the top, the rain stopped and a rain of sunshine lasted long enough to see a doe with two baby deer and a black bear! We also enjoyed visiting the interpretive center, it was very educational!

We did enjoy the ride and view, but disappointed with the noise in the area, loud music at the embarking and disembarking stations, and other riders hollering to others. Not sure how anyone would get to see animals at all.

Loved it! Beautiful views. Easy to book. We couldn't make it on our original date but it was no problem changing it. Love that you can choose open ski lift or closed gondola. Wish it came with the park pass. Short trip, but pictures are beautiful

Saw a black bear…so “tick”. Views very hazy because of smoke from wild fires. Very helpful and upbeat staff made it an excellent experience
