Shane was great! He gave us a complete history lesson on Ketchikan, the in and out and what life is like for the people in the area. I would highly recommend taking his tour. He even spotted a Bear at Herring Cove before anyone and made sure the other tour company knew a bear was in the area.

The trip had plenty of stops for scenic photos and provided a lot of history. There was a fair amount on how to read totem poles and the significance of the totem poles in Ketchikan. My wife and 3 teenagers enjoyed the tour, took plenty of photos, and even saw a black bear. Worth it.

Outstanding Wildlife Tour

SF_W, Aug 2026
It was just as we hoped it would be. We had a very knowledgeable guide, he knew the area and where to go for us to see wildlife. My only suggestion is to find a vehicle that would be more accommodating/comfortable for seniors...OR to designate seats, other than the back seats, that would be easier for seniors to enter and exit the van.

Amazing tour and guide

Ron_B, Aug 2026
Our guide was fantastic . She grew up there and shared her personal stories and struggles . Pointed out things . And we went off the beaten path . Your was great she made it amazing .

A great time

Elwood_L, Aug 2026
Our guide (sorry can't remember his name, Michael?) Was great. Personable and kind. Not much wildlife but a fun time.

Tour Summary

Elizabeth_B, Jul 2026
As I didn’t see a clear description of this tour when booking, perhaps the following information will help others. The tour took place at stops about 20 minutes from town with minimal descriptions from the guide. The first stop was at a roadside wayside of rocks and kelp; next stop was at a roadside waterfall where you view it from the road; next stop was along Herring road near the fish hatchery for potential bear sitings (saw none, not the guide’s fault obviously). Other tourists had taken the 20 minute ride to Herring Rd via a Yellow cab to visit this spot; last stop was Saxman Totem Park. I was expecting for a bit of history of the area, it ended up being a ride to the described areas above.

Could have been much better

Charlene_K, Jul 2026
The experience was wonderful, but our driver, Archie, had to detour and go to get gas, which took about 15 minutes. Our next watch was viewing the bears and when we got off the van, we were there less than five minutes when he told us to get back on the van because we had to make it to our next stop. The bears were out and we were all trying to get pictures when he made us leave. His procrastination in being ready with for our trip with gas was not our fault, yet, it shortened our enjoyment. This was not appreciated.

Best tour!

Greg_T, Jul 2026
Shane did a great job of showing us things others may not... bears, bald eagles, and salmon being caught! He has lived in Ketchikan most of his life and his connection to the community and the stories was appreciated. He allowed the expected stops to be extended to allow us to wait for the bear to show itself. He also took the time to return us to our ship. He gave us the straight story about the area, the community the respect he and others have for the place they call home. If I make it back there, I will look him up!

Cheryl_N, Jul 2026
Shane was excellent and giving us the insider view of Canada and ketchacan. He was determined to have us see wildlife, stopping often to show us the beauty of the area.

Julie_L, Jul 2026
good sightseeing trip….we saw bald eagles but no bears. The travel van is small and tight. I sat in the passenger side and was fine but people in the back were uncomfortable.

Lovely general overview of Ketchikan. Enjoyed every stop we made. Our guide/driver Norman was full of information but very difficult to understand.

Outstanding experience...

Outstanding experience with a wonderful guide, Mr. Norman. He was great and very knowledgeable about the area and heritage. I would highly recommend this excursion if you want to experience the beauty in Ketchikin. Very enjoyable day!!

A great way to see Ketchikan highlights

Beverley_K, Jul 2026
This tour was an excellent way to see many wonderful Ketchikan sights in a small group ( 9 people in our group). We visited all of the sights listed on the description and our driver /guide Mike Quick was superb! There was enough time to spend at each site without feeling hectic or rushed .Mike demonstrated a wide depth of knowledge about so many things and he was very friendly .

Definitely worth it!

Dolores_S, Jul 2026
We had a great time. Thanks to Stormin’ Norman! He really educated us on the area, he knows a lot about everything!! We saw a ton of Eagles and even a black tail deer. Thanks for making this such an enjoyable experience!

RUSH rush rush

Ivana_F, Jul 2026
The tour itself was nice, but we felt very rushed the entire time. The tour guide warned us at the beginning that he was a stickler for time, and he definitely wasn't kidding. Every stop felt rushed, and we barely had enough time to take photos before it was time to leave. If I had known we wouldn't have much time at each location, I would have visited these places on my own instead. Also, don't expect the itinerary to be followed exactly. Some of the stops, especially the waterfall, didn't allow nearly enough time to really enjoy the experience. Overall, it was a good tour, but I wish we had more time at each destination.

Seaside Tours

Tammy_R, Jul 2026
Shane with Seaside tours was fantastic! He patiently waited for us when we couldn’t find him ( my fault) Then took his time to show us all the hidden gems and Ketchikan secret spots to see bears, which we did. Would highly recommend!

Shown around by a true local

Alex_D, Jul 2026
We were lucky and practically had a private tour since no-one else turned up. Morgan (I believe this was his name), although 80 years old, had plenty of energy and a lot of information to give us. As we are italian we may have missed something but he was gracious when asked to explain. I am glad we had a local and native take us around.

A great little tour

Colin_O, Jul 2026
A great little tour. Norm was our guide. A very interesting and informative gentleman- we saw some lovely places. Didn’t unfortunately see any of the suggested wildlife apart From some eagles but that just happenes

Excellent guide. ...

Yogita_S, Jul 2026
Excellent guide. Explained the importance of each site. Took us to the beach and let us hold a starfish.

Excellent Tour

Alysha_M, Jul 2026
Shane was outstanding. So knowledgeable and professional. I loved that he's lived there for so long. There's something to be said when a local can tell you stories which make the tour that much more exciting. We saw bald eagles, deer, bears, carbs and starfish! He talked about the city and how life is really like living up in Ketchikan. We truly loved our time on this tour. The totem pole stories were also amazing. Shane was incredible! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great tour!

The tour was interesting and well organized. The meeting location was a short distance from where the cruise ship docked and our tour operator (Michael) was informative and personable. I would highly recommend the install speakers in the vans because those sitting in the back could not hear him as he was explaining and sharing information.

The guide was very knowledgeable! The description for this tour included beachcombing at Rotary Beach. This was not included as part of our tour.

Very bad experience

Joanna_J, Jul 2026
We were given wrong direction. They did not even wait for us. We had to book another tour instead . I would not recommend it

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Our directions are listed. On multiple sites. We give 2.5 hour tours Waiting on late guests ruins the day for our guests who made it on time. We will wait if communication is made before the tour is scheduled to leave. We make calls while waiting. And we message guests on the booking apps. We understand our guests are on limited time. And we will not ruin the day for guests who showed up early or on time.

Family cruise

Paula_C, Jul 2026
May or may not see wildlife. Norman our guide was a native local and was very knowledgeable about the culture, history and area. We got to see and hear things we wouldn’t have if we didn’t have this experience.

Joe_S, Jul 2026
We were informed that we would see Saxman Village. All we saw were a few totem poles. We could not hear or understand the tour guide as there was no microphone. We drove around Ketchikan and stopped at a few points along the way and all we saw were a few eagles and no other wildlife or salmon. In our opinion, this was not a good value for the money

Great way to see a lot of Ketchikan in small amount of time.

Donna_W, Jul 2026
It is was a very informative and interesting trip through town and outside town. We stopped at a waterfall, Creek where the ladder is for salmon to swim upstream (we were about a week early for that), Herring Cove where I was able to photograph a mature baldeagle, and two juvenile eagles, and Saxman Tribal house to walk around and see the Totem poles. We also were able to see a lot of Ketchikan town.

Debra_K, Jul 2026
I would not recommend this tour. We did not get to go into the village or buildings-it is closed up tight . You only get your picture taken in front of the building with totem poles. The tour director never turned around in the van to speak to us and he did not have a microphone, so nobody had any idea what he was saying.. definitely a low spot on our Alaskan adventure. This is totally misrepresented..

Enjoyable

Constance_W, Jul 2026
Went to Herring Cove. We did not see any bears but did see bald eagles and Stellar Nluejas,as well as king fishers.
