Hop aboard an air-conditioned bus at the Charleston Visitor Center, where your journey begins. About a 30- to 45-minute drive will take you to 17th-century Boone Hall, where your tour begins.
Hop off your bus and head to the front porch, where a guide garbed in period costume will give you a half-hour presentation about the hall and its hundreds of years of history. Then listen to a presentation about the lives of enslaved people who once lived at the plantation, as well as about the culture of the Gullah people, the descendants of enslaved Africans who live in this part of the country.
Wrap up your tour with a visit to the Boone Hall rose garden, where you can see bushes that are more than a century old, before getting back on your bus and returning to Charleston.

This was a wonderful experience and the highlight of my trip to Charleston. Fascinating history associated with the plantation, all brought to life by the excellent tour guides on site. A special mention must go to the guide Ed who showed tourists around the main hall. The combination of his natural warmth and tremendous sense of humour will live long in the memory! An absolute must see attraction in Charleston.
We visited Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens today, and it was a wonderful and enlightening experience. Our first stop was the presentation on the history of the enslaved people, including the Gullah people and their culture. It was especially meaningful and gave us a deeper understanding of the history of the plantation and the people who lived and worked there.
The house tour was very informative, and we also enjoyed the wagon ride around the beautiful grounds. We found it especially interesting to learn that Boone Hall is still a working plantation today.
There was so much history, culture, and beauty to experience. We would definitely recommend a visit to Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens!

A lot to do, really enjoyed the history of the property. Toured the house, farm and would definitely recommend the Doulah presentation.

Well worth the experience. Our driver pointed out some notable landmarks on our way to Boone Hall. So much to see at Boone Hall. The guides were very informative and witty. A must for anyone visiting the Charleston area.

What a fascinating and sobering experience. About 30 minutes from downtown Charleston - absolutely worth the trip. Our guide (whose name is escaping me!) was wonderful - very easygoing and knowledgeable having only lived in Charleston for 3 years. The plantation is gorgeous - very well cared for - but not minimizing the dark side of the history that took place here. The slave cabins were fascinating; loved the house tour and the evolution of the building. Farm and garden tour was very informative. Then I just sat under a magnolia tree and took it all in. Absolutely worth the visit!

We enjoyed our time visiting Boone Hall Plantation, even though a brief thunderstorm interrupted one of the shows we saw at this site.
Lexie was a great tour guide to Boon Hall. The grounds were amazing and the staff took pride in talking about all aspects of the homes history. The Gulla Girl was moving and she is amazing.

The plantation house was built well after slavery. The Gullah demonstration was great. I would imagine other tours might be better
The grounds and gardens are very nice. The "mansion" tour is a bust, consisting of viewing the library, dining room, and a hall way/office. The rest of the house is off limits. The staff was friendly and the Butterfly Cafe has great butter pecan ice cream. Overall, an interesting place to visit.
Great place to spend a half or even a full day! Lots of history, several different 30-minute guided tours & also self-guided tours. Beautiful location & informative tour guides.

Very interesting and thought provoking visit to Boone hall! Was there for 3hrs and really could have done with longer but it was an escorted trip so we had to return for our transport. If I ever visit the area again would go in a car so that I could get the full experience

Great trip from start to end! Transportation was on time and the driver was knowledgeable and really made the trip that more enjoyable! Boone Hall was amazing!
The excursion was excellent. We did have a problem with the address and location to meet the group. We had a 2.5 mile walk. You should have indicated it was at the Bus Barn.
A pleasant drive to Boone Hall Plantation from Charleston perfectly narrated by our driver. The grounds are spectacular! As you drive down the Oak Lined Drive you are transported back in time. The Gullah people gave a historic presentation of their ancestors life as enslaved people. I would recommend this tour.
There are many great exhibits to view. It was very informative and kept interest. Well worth the time.

Very nice tour. We toured the main house, stable, did the farm tour and the Gullah presentation. We also wandered through the cabin displays and garden. We were there about 3 hours and fit it all in with careful planning. We liked the farm tour with the tractor the best and the Gullah presentation the least. We could barely hear the speaker of the Gullah presentation and she wasn’t very engaging.
Everyone was very knowledgeable. The grounds were so beautifully kept. Definitely a must see. Make sure to see it all, so much history and knowledge being shared.
This is probably one of my favorite tours in Charleston. Greg was such a great host/driver. I was able to learn so much throughout this tour and met some amazing people and just had a great time.
