What are people saying about Pompeii

We are grateful a friend...
We are grateful a friend had recommended a tour with an archeologist. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about Pompeii and taught us the makeup of a home, the Forum, Basilica, market, bakery, baths etc. When our tour completed we were able to spend time seeing areas we hadn’t the time to see in the three hour tour and were able to identify what we were seeing as a result of how well our guide taught us about the city. He answered questions with enthusiasm and his passion for Pompeii was evident. He mentioned the artifacts we were asking about were kept at the archeological museum in Naples. We were able to visit the museum before our return flight home and it was fantastic. We saw the plaster frescoes, dishes, statues, furniture, etc from Pompeii and the Hurculaneum. We are so glad we took his advice to visit the museum as it really brought a full picture of Pompeii together for us!

Daniela is passionate and knowledgeable!
Daniela was hugely knowledgeable and deeply passionate about her Roman history. She was warm and friendly and readily answered our myriad questions. She showed us both places within Pompeii which we had requested to see, but also places she loves and cares about. Daniela shared her fantastic knowledge and insights of each villa, fresco, mosaic etc. We would highly recommend this tour with Daniela. Thank you - we learnt so much and it is an afternoon we will always remember!

Amazing historic sites with a funny, knowledgeable guide
Perfect hassle free tour to take in Herculaneum and Pompeii in a day. I booked at last minute the night before - all details received quickly. Meeting point very easy to find and our guide Vincenze kept everything running to timetable right from the start. Very well organised, less than 20 in a group and a comfortable air conditioned minibus. In fact, the driver ( another Vincenze!)noticed the air con wasn't working well enough so whilst we toured Herculaneum, he swapped to another bus. Tour guide Vincenze knew his stuff! Not just about Pompeii and Herculaneum but also included information about the history and origins of traditional Neopolitan words and history. He was very flexible on the tour and made a point of jumping to see a not so busy feature so that we didn't have to wait. His knowledge and informative chat on the bus and also around the sites was engaging and I learnt so much more than I did before. Lunch was at own expense at a shopping complex just next to Pompei, Vincenze took us in and directed us to the food court. There was a whole range of places available Pompei was amazing, my childhood history lessons brought to life! I unfortunately have a knee injury which has left me using a crutch as it is quite unstable. Pompei was a struggle but had wanted to visit for 43 years so was determined to make it round. Also very relieved we had other Vincenze as our bus driver. After seeing the driving in Naples and reading some other reviews, I was quite anxious about the trip but we were in danger with Vincenze. I just want to say a huge thank you again to Vincenze x2 for making my long awaited visit and every bit of the tour memorable and enjoyable!

Pompeii tour
Everything was organised well. Our guide was called Anna Sorrento. She was very knowledgeable, had a lovely friendly manner, and was happy to answer all our questions. She made everything interesting and had a great sense of fun. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Pompeii is the crown jewel of Italy’s archaeological treasure trove, but this ancient site is sprawling and offers little posted information explaining its jumble of ruins. Pompeii tours bring the history of the Roman city to life with archaeologist guides who provide insights about its excavated art and architecture, focusing on the highlights to cover the site in just a few hours. Pair Pompeii with a guided visit to nearby Herculaneum, a wine-tasting lunch in the surrounding vineyards, a hike to the volcanic crater atop Mt. Vesuvius, or a scenic excursion along the Amalfi Coast for an unforgettable day trip.
