Silvia was the best guide. Super knowledgeable and ensured we all had a great time even with the heat

Iman was our tour guide and he was exceptional. We not only learned about the Colosseum, but he gave us an excellent understanding of how art, religion, and architecture all came together. I would not have gotten nearly as much out of the visit without Iman's help and knowledge.

Fantastic tour. Our guide, Sylvia, was wonderful, knowledgeable and patient! Go early in the morning - crowds are less and the heat is more bearable!

Francesca was full of knowledge and gave us a great tour!
Loved that we could walk right it and see it all!

Overall the guided tour was just perfect!
Check the meeting point in time, it is a level above street level. Once you're there the staff is easy to spot.
Our guide was Valerio, and that was one of the best tour guides I could imagine.
We booked the tour for a super hot day in July. So Valerio decided to skip the details of Forum Romanum and instead took some more time at Colosseum. Yes, it was that hot. and the wating line at the very beginning at palatine hill was painful enough, so I totally agree to skipping walking through Forum Romanum at noon with these temperatures. Anyways you could see the impressive Forum from Palatine hill nicely. palatine was really interesting and Valerio told us interesting facts about ancient Rome there. But it was his presentation in Colosseum (btw. thumbs up for almost no wating there) that caught me completely. Instead of throwing around too many year dates and numbers, our guide had a way of telling riveting stories, so you could imagine what a visit at the colosseum must have been like in ancient times. After his stories I walked into the arena with a totally different feeling. Thank you, Valerio, for this tour.
After the guided tour you still can stay in the Colosseum.
The understandability with the radio receiver was nice. There is plenty of fountains to get water from; our guide always pointed that out.
All in all, I can totally recommend this guided tour. Don't just go to the Colosseum with entry-only tickets. Yes, it is impressive, but after our guide Valerio's illustrations the arena hits you totally differently.

Great tour and guide. Very knowledgeable about ancient rome. Loved that he carried an ipad to show us what the sites would have looked like back then. Would recommend booking this tour again.

Our tour guide is great and lots of information was given to us. Must do and it’s worth it. Thank you.

Andie was an excellent guide who was very knowledgeable and informative. He made the tour fun and did a great job finding us shady spots to get out of the very hot sun.

Wow!
what an amazing tour with an even more amazing tour guide!! Sylvia does archaeological digs and shared amazing insight into everything that we were seeing.
Just remember when you book your tickets for this event, the names that you put in have to be the exact names on your identification. They check both upon entrance.

We booked the Colosseum & Ancient Rome Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine
Hill with Francesca through City Wonders. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and took time describing all the historical details. We did the tour as described, took the entire 3hrs, saw everything and some! The company sent reminder text messages and responded fast via messages. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. 10 stars for the company and Francesca!

Our guided tour of the Colosseum, Palantine Hill and the Roman Forum was nothing short of amazing! Francesca did a wonderful job and really knew things about the ruins we never would have learned on our own. I highly recommend this tour when in Rome!

Maria was amazing! She made the experience incredible with the history she shared. Even if you don’t get Maria, you should still do this tour!!

Palatine Hill, the Roman Forum, and the Colosseum can be great with or without a guide, however, it’s the guide that makes it a spectacular experience. Our guide Luca was one of the best guides we’ve had over 3 weeks of being in Italy. He spoke perfect and clear English, made the tour interesting, funny at times, carried pictures of what it supposedly looked like back then, and even challenged you a bit with questions. You could tell he cared about your experience and welcomed any questions. On the compassionate side, when one of our family members was unable to walk anymore due to a recent back issue, and sat down for the remainder of the tour near the Colosseum, Luca came back to show him pictures of what he missed.
The only criticism of the tour was when we checked in at the meeting location. We felt like we should be in the right location but, it turns out it was about 15 feet away and above us. When we found the blue shirts, 3 City Tour representatives were all talking amongst themselves, ignoring the others who just wanted to confirm if that was the right spot. Once we got their attention, one curtly said, checkin was in 5 minutes. Okay…..it was at that time that I was a little skeptical on how the next 3 hours would go. Not a great representation of a company…..first impressions are everything. Luckily, Luca was the gem. Too bad we can’t do more tours with him as our guide.

An excellent tour with a superb tour guide Valerio. He spoke about his back ground in Archeology and his in depth knowledge of the Coleseum, palatine hill and Ancient Forum . He painted a picture of the Coleseum and stopped at numerous points for a break and pictures. This made the tour more manageable on such a hot July day. The highlights of the tour were pictures from the upper deck of the Coleseum, standing in the emperors seating area and imagining the view they would have. Visualising the different types of things that would go on in the arena. (Not called that in Roman times), standing on Palatine hill taking pictures looking over everything. Working our way down from the palatine hill and taking in the newly opened areas and then finishing with some time in the Forum. It was a whirlwind tour but he did cram in a lot in the 2.5 to 3hrs time.

This tour was one of the best I have ever done. Iman was simply the most fantastic tour guide literally ever! He was so knowledgeable, friendly and inclusive. Definitely recommend this tour!

Sylvia did a wonderful job explaining everything and giving a better insight into the sites and times history. She was wonderful.
Aden_O, Jul 2026
We had a lovely experience visiting the Colosseum, would recommend especially if you get the best tour guide in Rome - Andy!
The man who has all the charisma, jokes and fantastic English, with some tour guides it’s hard to track most words/sentences and you often stop listening but with Andy I was hanging on every single word.
Dude is a legend Andy with city Wonders.
Jon_M, Jul 2026
The knowledge and enthusiasm of our tour guide “Tati” was unmatched. Obviously she couldn’t control the sweltering heat, but she was great. Skip the line is the only way to go.
Eli_F, Jul 2026
What an experience! Andriy was a wealth of information and very friendly. Keeping us in the shade and we'll hydrated the whole time during the treasures summer heat.
Travis_Z, Jul 2026
Fantastic information. Great length of time. Tour guide was very friendly and answered all questions and even had some humor. Highly recommend.
sandra_D, Jul 2026
Excellent. We had a tour guide named Silvia who is an archaeologist who was brilliant!
More time seeing the relics inside the colosseum would have been great but you can go back and see them.
Rahn_S, Jul 2026
It’s hot in July! Lol
Our tour guide was amazing!
Very knowledgeable and polite ! Made everyone feel included
Patty_D, Jul 2026
After confirming several times that the Colosseum would be the first site in the tour (we have a friend who would be too greatly affected by the intense heat) the guide walked us down back streets for 45 min to get to the Forum line. By this time many in the group were already feeling heat exhaustion. After part of the Forum our friend had to leave due to the sun and heat. We all declined the Palatine Hill. By the time we walked to the Colosseum, around 12:15 only me and my hubby were able to, reluctantly, go on. Changing the itinerary in the intense 100 degree heat, without notice, is unacceptable. Waste of money for those who had planned to see the Colosseum and didn’t get the experience. As the tour started at 10:30, doing the Colosseum first would have been doable. The guide rambled on and was difficult to understand. She walked way too fast on the uneven roads, barely stopping to allow for photos. We had already done three other Skip the Line tours (with other companies) during our time in Italy and they were excellent, especially the Vatican museums and Sistine Chapel. All followed the listed itinerary. I would not recommend this company. Their only response to my feedback was an “apology”. Better tour companies out there. Beware.

Our tour guide Giorgio was the absolute best!! my mother who is close to 81 years old couldn’t walk the whole way. He always made sure we were OK and always would come back to us and let us know the direction to go. Giorgio, the best guy ever.!!!!!!
Eldinn_M, Jul 2026
The tour was amazing! Our guide, Maria Luisa, was excellent. Her background in archaeology studies made this guide super interesting. My partner and I learned a lot! Just be prepared for the heat if you’re doing this tour in July, it’s no joke!
