We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle, wearing comfortable walking shoes, and using appropriate sun protection, including a hat and sunscreen, to ensure a comfortable visit.

Age categories are based on the guest’s age on the day of the tour, not the booking date. We saw all three, Palatine, Forum, and Coliseum. Our guide was very good and informative. He answered all our questions.

We walked for 15 minutes passing the time of our tour and I had to contact viator and stay on the phone with them until we found him
Georgio was the perfect guide. Showed us sites in great detail and gave us time to rest and take pictures. He never rushed us. He is the best guide we had during our Cruise. Get him if you can!

My daughter and I did a 3 hour tour of the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Forum. Our guide, Salvatore was brilliant and very passionate to share his knowledge which was extensive. I would recommend to anyone visiting Rome. Awe inspiring. We would do the tour again in a heartbeat.
Our guide Marianna (sp?) was wonderful! She had studied archeology and gave us such a robust account of what we were seeing and the history. It was a lovely experience.
Lots of walking. Uneven surface so wear proper shoes and be prepared to keep pace with group. Our guide was full of personality and explained the history of the various sights. Great experience!

Our tour of the Colosseum was one of the highlights of our trip to Rome, and that was entirely thanks to our guide, Maria Luisa.
She was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the Colosseum and the surrounding area, but what really set her apart was her teaching style. She made complex historical topics easy to understand and would often repeat key points to ensure everyone in the group was following along. Her enthusiasm never faded, and she kept the tour engaging from start to finish.
What we appreciated most was that she didn't just tell us what happened. She would frequently ask, "How do we know this?" and then explain exactly how historians, archaeologists, and historical records allow us to understand the past. That added a level of depth and credibility that we haven't experienced on many other tours.
She was also able to answer every question thrown her way, no matter how detailed. It was clear that she has a genuine passion for Roman history and loves sharing it with others.
If you're considering a Colosseum tour, I highly recommend booking one with Maria Luisa. She transformed what could have been a standard sightseeing experience into a fascinating and memorable journey through ancient Rome.
Fabulous tour. Well-organized process to assign people to groups. Our guide was Maria Louisa. She provided a wealth of knowledge and spoke clear English. She engaged with the people in her group and clarified any concerns. We were prepped before going through the many check points. I would use City Wonders again for a city tour.
This was the best tour we took in Rome. Silvia was an absolutely brilliant guide - 5*. She was so passionate about the sites and her background as an archaeologist was very impressive. We honestly could have spent many more hours with her. Her joy and positivity were infectious. I don’t think you can appreciate these sites in the same way unless you take a guided tour.
Giorgio our guide was very friendly, funny and knowledgeable. He made sure everyone was comfortable during the tour. Please note- wear sensible walking shoes. Bring a hat and have a water bottle. Also note some steps and inclines and uneven terrain for those with mobility challenges. It was a very informative tour. Grazie mille!

Having a tour was worth the extra cost. Being able to skip the line and get some background on the history of the area was great. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. The Colosseum itself was extremely busy in some parts. I’m glad we did it in October rather than the heat of summer as they book too many groups going in at once in my opinion. Going in solo though we wouldn’t have nearly as good of an experience.
We just completed this tour with City Wonders and it was fantastic. The communication from the company prior to meeting was excellent. As we waited for our tour to start I watched one of the organisers from this company patiently helping people who couldn’t find their different tour operators. Impressive. Carlo/Charlie was an excellent guide. He was so knowledgeable and friendly, pacing the tour and his commentary effortlessly. My partner left his hat at one of the stops and he made sure we had an opportunity to retrieve it.

The tour was very organized. It covered lots of Roman ruins. We were only 10 people, which made the tour more easy. Our guide, Mr. Charlie managed to make the tour highly enjoyable, thanks to him and the tour organizers.

Emanuela did a great job to engage and guide us through the different historical monuments and despite the crowd, we managed to have a good experience, book the earlier timeslots to hopefully avoid the main crowds, and wear hats/sunglassess cos it can be exposed and hot!
We had a wonderful experience on this tour with Hisam! He took the time to explain the history and interesting details of every stop in an engaging and informative way. Even with a larger group, he did an excellent job keeping everyone involved, interested, and entertained. His knowledge and storytelling really brought the history to life. Highly recommend this tour!

Good tour, organised and a nice touch with showing how the building looked before and now. Maybe in some case I wished we covered a couple extra areas as a group as I had to run back and forth to see them by myself while trying to keep an eye on the group to avoid losing them.

Tour was organised very well and comms were welcomed.
Rossella was our guide who was wonderful. Friendly, warm and very knowledgeable. Audio worked well and you always felt part of the group. I’d say 20 ppl approx.
3hrs20 mins…and never felt rushed. Questions and wider discussions were welcomed and provided extra information.
The Forum was my particular favourite. Very humbling.
