An Incredible Experience with Jose Hernandez on Roatan Island!
If you are looking for the absolute best guide and driver in Roatan, look no further than Jose Hernandez! Jose picked us up right from the cruise port at Mahogany Bay, and from the very start, his friendly and welcoming personality made us feel completely at ease. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the island and took us to the amazing Monkey and Sloth Sanctuary, which was a massive highlight of our trip. What truly set Jose apart was his dedication to making sure we had the perfect day. The beach we originally planned to visit was closed due to bad weather, but Jose quickly stepped in and adapted. He called his office and changed our itinerary on the spot, offering us a much better option so our day wasn't ruined. Jose is not only a fantastic, flexible guide but also an excellent, safe driver. Having private, comfortable transportation with someone so passionate about his home made our cruise stop completely unforgettable. I cannot recommend Jose Hernandez highly enough. If you visit Roatan, do yourself a favor and book with him—you will be in the best possible hands!

Loved the Sanctuary
Guide was prompt and professional. Vehicle was clean. He was very knowledgeable about the island and made us feel welcome. Jeremy was our own private driver. Would have liked a little more history from him, seemed like we had to ask a lot of questions to get information. Had a great experience with the animal interaction at the sanctuary. The staff (Juan Carlos) there, made sure we had the best encounters. Plus, I loved how some of the monkeys were free to come and go as they please and were not being “caged”.

Excellent experience with Diana Johnson
Travel guide Diana Johnson is very kind person, all the way she was driving carefully, she explained the history, environment, living expenses, and sightseeing information of the city. Under our required, she drived us to a local Supermarket and we can brought local coffee and chocolate powder. She did a very good job, and we have had a wonderful day with her. Excellent experience we had.

Great company, great time. Better host.
I was skeptical with this excursion as I thought it may be a bust. I was wrong. Little sketchy walking outside the port to find the driver, but after that you're golden. We were passed off to our driver, Norma, who we would adopt in a second. Nicest lady. She's a local and knows everything about the island. Knows the history and culture. She's seen all the changes. The sloth and monkey exhibit was actually better than I anticipated. Only about 45 minutes, but very up close and personal. Norma stayed there and then took us to the next stop- the "private island". Honestly, it was a little concerning going through side roads, down dirt roads, and then stopping at some old buildings, and then onto some older boats. But don't be fooled- nicest people and they take you to Brady's Cay. A little spot on an island about 300 yds off the main island. This was the best. Low key. Not crowded. Great snorkeling. Saw a nurse shark, a barracuda, etc. There is a small restaurant and store on the island. The servers are let's say "very attentive" to asking if you need food or drinks. There are beach chairs and umbrellas. We could have spent hours here. After about 90 minutes we were taken back via boat to the main island...and there was Norma waiting for us. We asked her for a good local restaurant and she took us to a place that she knew well. We had great conversations with her over lunch and then sadly had to return to the port. Her company, Roatan Ocean Adventures, did a great job hosting us. She had nothing but praise for her boss, Herbert, and told us great stories about him and the company over the years. When an employee speaks that highly of her company and boss then you know they are legit. We would come back here without a second thought and work with ROA.

Monkeys and parrots and sloths—oh my! If a wildlife-viewing adventure appears on your wish list, you can’t go wrong with Roatan excursions that get you up close and personal with the animals that call this island off the coast of Honduras home. Active adventures abound at this popular cruise port, from ATV rides to jungle ziplines to snorkel cruises on the crystal-clear Caribbean Sea. In fact, Roatan sits near the Mesoamerican Reef, the second-largest barrier reef system in the world, so it’s teeming with colorful marine life, including starfish and turtles.
