The trip was excellent - the guides entertaining and Capri is absolutely beautiful! There were a lot of details to arrange and the tour company did a great job organizing transport, ferry rides, mini buses and really good tour guides. I would definitely use them again!
Be warned it is a very long day, but was well worth it for a day trip!

Unfortunate for the long queue, due to the crowd, we could not make the most famous grotto, but the tour guide and the captain took us the next beautiful spot where is the exact the same BLUE!!

Very long day a the ocean was to rough to go to the Blue Grotto but Annnnalisa an Ileana made the trip fun still! We took a wild water ride around the other side of the island an the boat driver put his boat into some small caves an saw the green water still. Very bad ocean weather but boat driver an tour guides were awesome still! Highly recommend Annalisa for the bus park an Ileana for the Capri part great day!

The Grotto is a must see experience…Definitely not enough time to explore Capri… Don’t be surprised if you book an English speaking tour and ended up with a group that doesn’t speak English… our guide Franchesca on the coach was extremely helpful with us in particular and attentive to the groups needs… I would recommend not to miss this tour!!!
Glen_L, Sept 2025
The water at the Blue Grotto can be choppy, so we were fortunate that it settled down enough for us to get in. I was very disappointed that I was not able to sit with my wife as we went into the grotto due to the seating configuration of the row boat. It seems that the boaters were just trying to get as many people in and out as quickly as they could.

Beautiful places to visit. Catching the ferry to Capri was chaotic with all the people.. very hard to keep up

Mara was an amazing guide! She was very attentive, friendly, professional and fun! I highly recommend this tour!

Don’t do it’!! Did not include the Blue Grotto! When we got there the tour operator informed us that they NEVER include the Blue Grotto in this tour. This is NOT the trip as stated. Just took a boat ride. SO very disappointed 💔
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Dear Kathleen - thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re very sorry to hear about your disappointment. Please allow us to clarify: the Blue Grotto is always included in this tour whenever sea and weather conditions permit. However, for safety reasons, access to the Grotto can sometimes be suspended by the authorities due to rough seas, tides, or operational restrictions. Additionally, on days of very high demand, long waiting times may prevent the visit from being completed within the tour schedule.
This information is clearly explained on our website and booking platforms, as it is unfortunately beyond the control of any tour operator. On those occasions, the tour continues with a boat ride around the island to ensure guests can still enjoy the beauty of Capri from the sea. We hope to welcome you back in the future under better circumstances...
Warm regards,
Gray Line Rome

I spent a lot of money for this excursion to the Blue Grotto but when we got there the guide that the line was too long - no asking what what we wanted to do or anyone else - she didn't want to wait so we didn't go. Very disappointing for a small substitute boat ride.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Robert - Please allow us to clarify that the decision not to proceed with the Blue Grotto visit was not due to the personal preference of the tour leader. During high season, it is unfortunately common to encounter extremely long queues at the entrance to the Grotto, with waiting times that can stretch well beyond what is compatible with the overall schedule of a group tour traveling from and back to Rome in the same day.
As this is a daily group tour with fixed return times, we must ensure that the itinerary remains feasible for everyone. For this reason, on our platforms we always inform our guests that, in case the Blue Grotto visit is not possible, alternative activities will be offered — such as additional free time to enjoy the island of Capri.
We sincerely regret if this alternative did not meet your expectations, and we thank you for your valuable feedback, which helps us in continuing to improve the experience we offer.
Best regards,
Gray Line I Love Rome

The actual site of the blue grotto was something to see - however the tour person wanted to deter us from going as her feedback was that it would be too long... we had to push back and say we had paid to go there and we did end up going but I was frustrated that we even had to ask.
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Dear Claudia - thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about the Capri Guided Day Trip from Rome: Ferry & Blue Grotto. We’re pleased to hear that you found the Blue Grotto an unforgettable experience but regret the frustration caused by the situation.
Our tour leaders are there not only to assist guests but also to assess any potential delays or challenges that could impact the schedule. The daily tour to Capri operates on a tight timetable to ensure a smooth return to Rome, and long queues for the Blue Grotto can sometimes pose a risk to the overall itinerary. This is why, on our product page, we clearly indicate that access to the Blue Grotto is subject to conditions such as weather, sea levels, or extended waiting times. In such cases, alternative activities are always suggested to maximize your time on the island.
We understand that it can be disappointing to face such uncertainties, and we truly appreciate your patience and determination in making the visit happen.
Thank you again for choosing this tour, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for another adventure soon.
Sincerely,
Gray Line Rome

Absolutely breathtaking Mediterranean Sea and coast. The Grotto was closed and instead we were treated to an amazing boat ride that we actually preferred! We are still talking about it! Capri is a captivating town and we loved the lemons...best lemon sorbet in a frozen lemon anywhere! The ferry ride was nice and we enjoyed the day. We would recommend eating lunch on your own....we felt pressured to eat where the guide led us and it was a limited menu and just okay. The restaurants and cafes in town would have been a better choice.

Seeing the blue grotto was fantastic. Afterwards time in town was the best balence. Great food experience
Angela_C, Sept 2024
Tour guide was great he gave the tour in several languages. Disappointed the weather wouldn't allow us to do the blue grotto but tour guide took us on another tour.
Alberto_C, Sept 2024
It’s says in your itinerary that Traditional Italian lunch is included, but according to our guide it was removed years ago. So we had to pay additional for our lunch.
Nishani_L, Sept 2024
Blue grotto proved to be everything I expected and more ! It was well organized with a very practical and experienced guide. The guide at Capri was very good too. Capri was very crowded and clothes were expensive. But hand made ceramics and capri bells made up for it ! Leave alone shopping it’s a beautiful must see place, especially blue grotto !!
Nancy_W, Sept 2024
Disorganized tour. The guides were arguing with each other and their English was difficult to understand. Actual tour did not match the Viator website. Best experience? Seeing the Blue Grotto
Debbie_D, Aug 2024
Had a wonderful time!! The tour guides were professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. They knew their history and provided interesting facts about places we visited. Our bus driver and boat captain were terrific—and gave us a smooth ride. The tour was well organized and timing was perfect. We didn’t get to see blue Grotto due to inclement weather, but they had a back up plan and gave us a boat tour around the island that we enjoyed just as much. We had some free time to explore on our own. I just wished we had a little more time on the island—spent a lot of time commuting. Overall—great and memorable experience!

We were unable to enter the Blue Grotto due to high tide. The trip to Capri island was amazing! The food at the restaurant the tour guide took us to was not good. There are many great restaurants in the area.
Please offer customers an alternative like “choose your own restaurant if you don't like the one we choose for you”
Response from Host, Jun 2024

It was absolutely dreadful. Weather so bad the trip should have been cancelled. Instead of going to the Blue Grotto because of weather, we had a 5 minute photo stop on the way to the restaurant. The local guide said hello before we caught the ferry and we didn’t see him again. The meal was ordinary and we had to pay for our own water 3€, even tho we had paid A$400 for the trip. We spent 1 1/2 hrs waiting for buses, ferries and a couple of people. We were given 2 hrs to shop in the afternoon’s rain even though half the shops were closed. The price to enter the Blue Grotto is about 34€ but this wasn’t refunded.
Response from Host, Oct 2023
Dear Helen,
we are deeply sorry to hear about your disappointing experience during the trip. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the adverse weather conditions.
We understand the frustration of not being able to visit the Blue Grotto due to the weather. Unfortunately, weather-related cancellations are beyond our control, and we regret any disappointment this caused. Regarding the limited interaction with the local guide, we appreciate your input and will address this concern with our team to ensure a more engaging experience in the future.
Concerning the meal, it is not our intention to provide anything less than a delightful culinary experience. Your feedback about the cost of water is duly noted, and we will work on making our pricing policies clearer in the future.
Regarding the waiting time for transportation and the shopping opportunity, we understand these aspects were not up to your expectations. We will review our logistics to minimize waiting times and provide better options for our customers, especially in adverse weather conditions.
Finally, we regret that we could not offer a reimbursement due to the prearranged nature of the tour. However, we value your feedback, and we will reconsider our policies in similar situations to ensure fairness for our customers.
We genuinely appreciate your input, and we will use this experience as an opportunity to enhance our services. We hope you might consider giving us another chance in the future. If you have any further concerns, please feel free to reach out to our customer service team.
Warm regards,
Gray Line Rome

Had a wonderful trip. Michaela was lovely and all the other travelers were so nice. I was traveling solo but had a bunch of friends by the end of the day. Everything was very well planned. The blue grotto was closed but I was just as happy with the other ones we visited. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
Nuria_S, Aug 2023
The whole itinerary was fantastic we enjoyed all the places we visited. Tour driver was good and your guide very knowledgeable
Oksana, Aug 2023
Amazing trip to Capri, pick up started at 6:15AM on a comfortable coach bus. The guide Marco was very knowledgeable and fluent in 5 languages, did a great job translating. Unfortunately we were not able to enter the Blue Ghrotto as it was closed due to tides, however instead they organized a boat ride around the island. Must do the chair lift in Capri, and see the amazing views from the chair lift and at the other side. Getting on the boats from Naples was a bit hectic, but the guide was with us the whole time. One hour of free time wasn’t really enough to see the island, but otherwise the tour was worth the 3 hour drive.
Lori_P, Aug 2023
Not because we didn’t see Blue grotto but because the trip was very disorganized. Meeting points were not always told
Response from Host, Aug 2023
Dear Lori,

We're truly sorry to hear that the trip felt disorganized and that there were issues with communicating meeting points. Your feedback is crucial to us, as it highlights areas where we can improve our operations and provide a smoother and more enjoyable experience for all our guests.

Excellently managed trip. Knowledgeable guide and a great experience. The place was too crowded and weather was harsh but few things are not always in our control.
Rene_Z, Jul 2023
This was the second time I joined this tour and every time, the Blue Grotto is closed. I do not understand why this is advertised when the likelihood of the enjoying the Blue Grotto, no matter what time of the year, is very slim. Otherwise, everything was good but very crowded ferry from Naples to Capri.
Arnoldo_V, Jun 2023
Very convenient tour if you are in Rome. Everything was on time. Great boat ride to Capri from Naples and the Grutta Azzura is a once in a lifetime experience

My client wanted to go on this tour 9/27/22 and after showing up for the tour found the tour was cancelled. Need advanced notice of cancellation due to weather.
Response from Host, Dec 2022
Dear customer,
sometimes we are forced to cancel a trip to Capri due to bad weather and there is nothing we can do to foresee it or prevent it. Bad weather is also the reason why we don't operate this tour in the fall and winter.
If you're booking was canceled, we suppose your credit card was refunded at the time. If this isn't the case, please send us an email to feedbackteam@graylinerome.it providing the reservation reference code.
Thanks and best regards,
Gray Line Rome

Pick up was very easy. Tour guide was absolutely delightful and knowledgeable. His ability to speak multiple languages was great. He was gracious and took care of us.
This day trip shouldn’t be an option unless it starts 1 hour earlier and stays one hour later, but even then you will only see a brief glimpse of Capri. The Blue Grotto was fabulous and fun and I am happy I saw it. The tide agreed with us so it was a seamless experience. The rest of the tour was rush and wait, rush and wait and rush and wait. There was no time at all to see the rest of the island. The drive to the top of the island was nervously fun, but it’s an Italian experience to get back down as guides jockeyed for buses. I was exhausted when it was done and never really felt like it was a calm day touring. I think the two days options make more sense but as someone doing this for the first time I had hoped for a bit of a better day. The guides were great and did their best considering the situation.
Response from Host, Oct 2022
Dear Anita,
thanks for reaching out and for the coompliments! Our tour leaders and tour guides are great at taking care of our customers! We're glad you liked yours!
As for the rush, we appreciate you and your feeling... The Capri tour is always on the move because the schedule is tight and the time limited. This said, we thank you for your feedback and it is noted!
