What are people saying about Oaxaca

Fun, insightful, and truly unforgettable experience
This was easily one of the best tours I had during my stay in Oaxaca. From start to finish, everything was well organized, enjoyable, and full of meaningful moments. Our driver, Mr. Jose, was professional and made the journey smooth and comfortable, and our tour guide, Adriel, was absolutely outstanding.
Adriel was honestly the best guide I had during my entire trip. He struck the perfect balance between being fun, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. What I appreciated most was how much depth he brought to the experience—he didn’t just explain the history of mezcal, but also shared insights about current events, culture, and the realities of life in the region. As someone who is curious and well-traveled, I really value learning in this way—not to judge or criticize, but to better understand a place, its people, and how history shapes the present. Adriel created that kind of thoughtful and open environment, which made the tour feel much more meaningful. The group itself was also amazing—small, friendly, and full of positive energy. Everyone was engaged, and that energy matched perfectly with the guide, which made the experience feel even more special and connected.
We had plenty of time to explore Hierve el Agua, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. You don’t necessarily need a separate guide to walk down, as you can explore on your own at your own pace, which I personally enjoyed. It gave me time to really take in the scenery, appreciate the uniqueness of the place, and just be present in the moment.
The mezcal tasting was another highlight. It was both fun and educational, and I learned so much—not just about how mezcal is made, but also about its cultural significance and the differences you might not notice on your own. On top of that, I ended up winning a bottle by answering a question, which was such a fun and memorable bonus!
Overall, this tour was the perfect mix of adventure, culture, learning, and fun. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Oaxaca. It’s not just a tour—it’s an experience that stays with you.

We had an amazing...
We had an amazing afternoon on the Mezcal and countryside tour. The first stop to the textile factory was very informative and interactive. Alvaro was a great guide with tons of knowledge about Mezcal and Oaxaca. We toured the beautiful agave fields, practiced using a machete, and learned the entire Mezcal production process from the field to the bottle. The Mezcal tasting was fun and informative, and the Mezcal all tasted great! Finally we shared a traditional Oaxacan lunch at a beautiful restaurant. Highly recommend this tour for a wonderful experience, and thank you so much Alvaro!

Amazing tour to Hierve el Agua, Mitla, wool rug making and mezcal tasting!
We joined this full‑day tour to Hierve el Agua in late April, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide, Zenon, set the tone right away—friendly, knowledgeable, and generous with information as we made our way to the farthest stop of the day.
Starting at Hierve el Agua was a great call. We had two hours to explore on our own, and everyone in the group found something that suited them—some tackled the steep 30‑minute hike to the bottom, while others relaxed in the turquoise pools or enjoyed from under the shade of the sparse trees. Even in the morning it was warm, so I can’t imagine doing this in the afternoon heat. Be sure to use sunscreen throughout the day, bring a hat or umbrella and wear comfortable shoes to walk.
From there, we continued to Mitla. It’s smaller than Monte Albán, but worth visiting in its own right. Zenon walked us through the history and symbolism with so much patience and depth, and he made sure to answer every question.
Lunch was a buffet with plenty of options. It was tasty, though quite busy with other tour groups. Afterward, we visited a family‑run wool rug workshop. Zenon translated as they explained their traditional rug‑making process, which was fascinating to see up close.
The highlight of the day for us was the artisanal mezcal tasting. Alvaro, who guided us through the production process and tasting, was charismatic, engaging, and knowledgeable. We ended up buying several bottles from their shop—great quality and much better prices than what we saw in the city.
Our final stop was the famous 2,000‑plus‑year‑old Tule Tree. Zenon shared its history, and we had a quiet moment to take in just how extraordinary it is.
Overall, we were genuinely impressed by the variety of experiences packed into one day and by the care and expertise of the team. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area.

Had the best time!
We took this one-day tour today and absolutely loved it. You get to see so many beautiful sights, which makes the tour well worth it.
Our guide, Pável, was knowledgeable, friendly and great fun, and our driver, Israel, was excellent as well. We had a wonderful time and learnt a lot along the way.
We’d definitely recommend this tour!

Daniel was an awesome guide!!
What an amazing experience! Daniel was professional, punctual, informative and tons of fun. He picked us up from our airbnb in a comfortable and clean suburban, plenty of room for the 7 of us. We toured Monte Alban, with details and insight from Daniel throughout the walk. Lots of steps up and down, with incredible views. The 2nd stop at Casa Ollin to learn about the multi-generational process of the artistry and craftsmanship involved in weaving was so much more than we expected, not to be missed. Then on to Hierve el Agua to see the natural pools and petrified waterfalls, spending a bit of time afterward for beverages and food. Then on to the mezcal tasting! After an informative tour to learn the lengthy process of making mezcal, we proceeded to taste, and taste, and taste some more. Throughout the day, Daniel remained fun and informative, never rushing us on to the next location. We returned after a full day, again right to our Airbnb. Overall, the tour was better than we expected. Thanks Daniel, as always, we are 'hopelessly devoted to you!' Debbie, Mary, Dena, Michelle, Scott, Dewayne and Jason

10/10 would recommend
Leyda was an excellent guide who was very knowledgeable and passionate about Mezcal and what it means to Oaxaca. My wife and I left with a deeper appreciation for the amount of effort it takes to produce them and how skilled mezcaleros are. The food, mezcales, tour, and general views were incredible. Would strongly recommend this experience - or following Leyda when she opens her own tour and experiences!

Amazing trip seeing lots of wildlife
We were very lucky and saw Manta-rays, Turtles, Spotted Dolphins, White-bellied Dolphins, Blue Whales, and Killer Whale. Our pilot was fantastic, and would definitely recommend using the company (just know that the animals are seasonal and wild, so you’ll not always see the same animals on each trip)

Tour of Zapotecha Museum and Archeological Site.
Pictures do not do it justice, a spectacular site on the top of one of the hills surrounding Oaxaca. Wonderful guide. In depth descriptions, great historical perspective. You can climb the stairs or take a less strenuous trip through. We used up all the time.

Beautiful waterfalls
We had a great experience. The waterfalls are beautiful and you can swimm there to cool off from the heat. I highly recommend to bring water shoes. We didn't bring them but you can buy them there.
Our guide Genaro was fantastic. He is very knowledgeable and tells a lot of stories about Oaxaca both in English and Spanish. I highly recommend to take the tour with him.
The food, different kind of tratitional mexican food, typical for Oaxaca, was delicious! And believe me, you are going to be very hungry after the tour from all the walking and swimming.
After all we would take the tour again and highly recommend it.
Thanks Genaro!

This tour was perfect! We...
This tour was perfect! We met up early and avoided the crowds, first we did a small hike to observe the waterfall from below, then had some time to enjoy the view and swim in the natural pool. It was not crowded at all and Paul was very knowledgeable and nice, it felt like going on an excursion with a friend. Highly recommended!

Great trip!
Take snacks with you as there are only stalls at the top!
Remember sun cream as it’s really hot & hardly any shade.
We didn’t do the hike as we got there at midday so was super hot, instead just walked to a little hut you can see after dipping in the pools. The pools are not warm!!

A cooking class for all ages and abilities!
We booked a cooking class for 2 adults and our 3.5 year old daughter. We were the only people with a child there so initially we were worried she wouldn’t be able to participate but they made her feel so special and welcome. She was able to make her own tortillas, empanadas, and dessert. It’s a really beautiful outdoor setting and you get to socialise with other like minded travellers learning to cook a Oaxacan meal. It is a long day so if you’ve got little ones, bring extra snacks to hold them over as we were there from 9-3. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and would recommend this to anyone!

Many travelers agree that if you only have time to visit one place in Mexico, it should be Oaxaca. The state has some of the country’s most iconic food—from its seven types of mole to flaky tlayudas (stuffed tortillas)—plus inspiring natural beauty and colorful architecture. Oaxaca tours let you explore like an expert, whether tasting street food in Oaxaca City or discovering the Monte Albán ruins. You can also learn to make mezcal on a plantation, marvel at a petrified waterfall, or head to the coast for surfing lessons.
