Alex Gave Us a Grand Tour

Alex was our tour guide, and he provided us with a fantastic experience. It certainly helped that Alex was getting his PhD at the local university and that he was from Guanajuato. We learned an incredible amount about the culture, history, and what’s going on today. The stop at the Cervantes library was the highlight of the tour. Alex answered all our questions with patience and generosity. We highly recommend asking that Alex be your tour guide. Breathtaking Views

This is a MUST see, even though the van drive was about two hours going through some dilapidated housing. We did, however, get to stop at a local taco stand for lunch on the way. Breathtaking views as we approached the unbelievable, ancient city below us. Then we hiked down to the town to explore. You absolutely need good walking shoes for irregular streets and cobblestones.

Worth a visit!

Alex was a great guide! Very knowledgable and friendly. He picked us up at the designated location in a car, and then drove us to the site where we boarded a bus. The site is really beautiful. The walk to the site is a little steep in places, but the scenery makes the walk enjoyable. Look for the leaf-cutter ants!
