Our Istanbul City Tour with Gürkan – Highly Recommended!

Gürkan was our guide for two days of sightseeing in Istanbul, and he was fantastic! He was incredibly knowledgeable, informative and flexible, and was happy to take us all over the city. He particularly enjoyed walking around Istanbul rather than using public transport, which we loved too. Along the way, he shared fascinating information about the city, explained how things work and gave us a real insight into Istanbul and its culture. We thoroughly recommend him! A tip about Topkapi Palace: How much time you allow here really depends on your interests. If you love history and enjoy exploring palaces, discovering what is inside and learning about their history, make sure you allow enough time. We left Topkapi Palace until the end of the day and allocated around two hours, but we could easily have spent four hours there! I would recommend looking at the sites on your itinerary beforehand and prioritising the places that interest you most, rather than leaving them until the end of the day. Another useful tip when booking tours through Viator: When we initially booked our two-day Istanbul city tour, we noticed that the Basilica Cistern wasn’t specifically listed, so we booked a separate tour for our third day. However, we ended up visiting the Basilica Cistern as part of our original two-day tour. Fortunately, we were able to cancel the additional tour and receive a refund through Viator. My advice is to check exactly which attractions are included in your city tour before booking any additional excursions. This will help you avoid paying twice for the same attraction and make the most of your time in Istanbul. Overall, we had a wonderful experience with Gürkan and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and flexible guide in Istanbul!

Excellent Visit and Knowledgeable Tour Guide: Emel.

This was a must-see tour of the Istanbul old town and was worthwhile. My tour guide, Emel, was in incredibly knowledgeable about the Ottoman Empire history, Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern and navigating through the Grand Bazaar. Learning from Emel about the architecture and history of the people was a treasurer experience. Hope everyone can see this.

Istanbul Spice and Food Tour with Ali

We had a fantastic food and spice tour with Ali, who was incredibly knowledgeable and great fun. There were around nine people in our group, and we started off in the morning at a coffee shop before wandering around and collecting a variety of delicious Turkish breakfast treats. We picked up fresh simit (traditional Turkish bread) and all sorts of delicious things to enjoy with it, including different cheeses, tomato paste and olives. We also tried proper Turkish coffee, delicious creamy and crunchy hazelnut spreads similar to Nutella, and kaymak, a rich, creamy Turkish clotted cream served with honey. There were so many wonderful flavours to try! After breakfast, we continued exploring, including a walk through the Spice Bazaar, where we discovered and smelled the most incredible variety of spices. There were peppery aromas, fragrant floral spices and so many other wonderful scents that made the experience a real treat for the senses. Ali was informative, enthusiastic and great company throughout the tour. He took us to various places, shared his knowledge and made the whole experience both enjoyable and interesting. It was a wonderful way to explore Istanbul’s food culture and discover flavours and places we might not otherwise have found on our own. Highly recommended if you want to experience Istanbul through its food, markets and local culture!

Fantastic experience!

If you only have a couple if days in Istanbul, this tour takes you to the major sites who wouldn't want to miss. Fettah , our guide, was very personable, knowledgeable and patient. He told us the history and background of these sites and let us take our time taking pictures and explore around. I had to replace a broken peice of luggage and he was kind enough to take us to shop for and even carried it back to our hotel! I would recommend his service 100percent!

What an incredible tour of some absolutely beautiful sites and historic places in Istanbul. The Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Basilica Cistern are truly awesome to experience in person. The great sites and experiences were only made more special by our tour guide Mert. He made sure our group of strangers from around the English speaking world all had a special experience. We beat the lines, we got great pictures, and learned all the special stories and history of such an incredible city. Sude and the Excellent Istanbul Tour!

We had one day to explore Istanbul while on a cruise and decided to do this tour to hit the highlights and it was the best decision! Sude was our tour guide and she made the experience as smooth, pleasant, and educational as we could have hoped for. We stuck with the tour's suggested itinerary but Sude was very flexible when we made a requested change last minute and accommodated us happily. She was super knowledgeable about Istanbul and Turkish history which gave us a great foundation for all the sites we saw throughout the day, she also took us to one of her favorite Turkish restaurants in the area for lunch that definitely hit the spot, and accommodated us on a timeline to see everything while still escorting us back to the ship in time before our disemarkation curfew. Highly recommend this tour and guide! Sude was excellent!

No worries at all

Our driver was early and I appreciated that. We were already downstairs. It was 4am and the weather was miserable with lots of rain. The van was comfortable and our driver was very careful due to the weather. Would absolutely recommend this company! Nerd out on history

Furkan was very knowledgeable and passionate about history. It took him a bit to warm up, but he was nice, and patient with an older lady in our group who kept wandering off. Meeting point is a good location. The tour was shorter than advertised, closer to 2 hours and 20 minutes, and that includes a visit to the Cistern of Theodosius. There was confusion around my booking, I bought the ticket that included Cistern of Theodosius, but Furkan had not been informed, so I had to bring up my reservation details and he made a detour to drop me off there. Would probably leave 4.5 starts if possible.

Old Crone Boat Review

Went on the cruise with two women in their upper 70s. They both enjoyed their two hours on the water. One chose to stay inside and the other was outside. A good sampling of Turkish snacks to include baklava and fruit/nuts were included. One thing I would have liked to have changed is that the pickup time is not the same as the one shown in the listing. We were under the impression that we were being picked up at 5 pm when the reality was they stopped by at 4:30pm. I would have appreciated being informed of the meetup time prior to departing. Staff was kind to my mother with walking issues and she appreciated getting a front row seat with ouch standing in line for it.

Great value and beautiful views

Really beautiful experience, especially the sunset boat! We booked again to do the Twilight boat since we have someone else coming to visit us and we thought this would be a nice way to see the city. Really great value. I’d recommend getting there early if you want a good spot at the beginning, but about 45 min or so into the boat, everyone spread around.
