Admission to Tama Zoological Park costs ¥600 for adults, ¥300 for seniors aged 65 and above, ¥200 for students aged 13–15, and is free for kids aged 12 and under. Admission is free for junior high school students living or attending school in Tokyo, and for disabled visitors and one companion.

You can buy tickets to Tama Zoological Park online in advance using a credit card or from multilingual ticket machines at the zoo, using cash, card, or contactless payment methods. You can't buy tickets to the Lion Bus online, as it isn’t included with general admission tickets.

Tama Zoological Park is open Thursday–Tuesday; if a public holiday falls on a Wednesday, it will close on Thursday instead. It’s open from 9:30am until 5pm, and last admission is at 4pm, but most visitors will want to allow more time for a visit. The zoo is closed from December 29–January 1.

Tama Zoological Park is in Hino City in western Tokyo. It takes about an hour to get there from Shinjuku in central Tokyo. Take the Keio Line from Shinjuku to Takahatafudo Station. Transfer to the Tama Monorail and travel two stops to Tama-Dobutsukoen Station right outside the zoo.

Tama Zoological Park doesn’t have its own parking lot, although there is a public paid lot outside the zoo. However, driving is generally no faster than taking the train depending on traffic conditions. During weekends and holidays the parking lot fills up, so the zoo advises visitors to take the train rather than drive.
