What are people saying about Playa del Carmen

Awesome experience. Worth every penny
The whole trip was nice. The guide gives you a lot of info about the Maya culture. I bought a maya horoscope since it was beautiful but don't buy anything else at the first store you stop by because you will find everything at a fraction of the cost at the Chichen site. Our guide and driver, Saul and Henry, were very nice, patient, and helpful.

Great destination with an awesome guide
Omar was a timely, professional and knowledgeable guide who kept our family of four (2 teens) engaged with his Mayan history knowledge and local stories. The cenote was a nice and refreshing treat. Lunch at a buffet included many local dishes not to be missed. We went at our own pace and skipped the shopping. Overall a great day. (Remember to bring hat, sunscreen and don’t forget your swimsuits.)

I had a good experience...
I had a good experience with this tour.
It took about an hour boat ride to get to Contoy Island from the meeting point (which is about 20 minutes away from downtown Cancun but the pick up was included and on time) and it's a beautiful unspoiled island with white sand and shallow clean water.
We spent about 3 hours there: one hour to relax, one hour for a barbecue lunch and another hour for an optional tour of the island (I was the only one in the group to go for it though) which was nice.
Then there was some snorkeling which I skipped because I thought the sea wasn't calm enough and I didn't want to struggle as I had never done snorkeling before.
We then headed to Mujeres Island, which was very very crowded and I can't say I enjoyed it, but we were there for only an hour which was long enough to still get a taste of the island.
The tour leads were very friendly and entertained us with music and dances on the boat. Many drinks were available.
The only thing I didn't like very much is that once we got back to the meeting point in Cancun (at about 4pm), we had to wait almost 45 minutes before we could get on the vehicle to be dropped off at the hotel, as the tour guides were asking everyone to write reviews on the company's app using their phone. I was really tired at that point, and to be honest I just wanted to go back to the hotel instead of waiting for 45 minutes for everyone to write their reviews. I asked to write the reviews later on (I always prefer taking a few days before writing a review, just to let the experience sink in without the emotion of the moment) and I was told I had to it there, I felt a bit forced and I thought it was unnecessary.
Still a good experience though, which I recommend.

Best excursion BY FAR!!!
This was hands down the best excursion I’ve ever done in Mexico—and I’ve been here six times!
Pablo and Caesar (aka Tom Cruise) made the experience unforgettable. Their knowledge at every stop was insane. The Tulum ruins were absolutely mesmerizing, and the cenote experience was next level, especially with the goggles. Being able to clearly see underwater made it truly breathtaking.
Lunch was delicious with tons of variety (tacos, pasta, rice, beans, salad, dessert, etc.) and we all left totally full. Swimming with the sea turtles was the perfect ending to an unforgettable day. They did not disappoint!
Pro tip: bring an underwater camera. Phones don’t cooperate well underwater, and your phone will 100% betray you at the worst possible time. My cheap underwater camera captured incredible photos and videos.
I can’t say a single negative thing about this trip. Highly recommend and would 100% do it again in a heartbeat.

Fabio was an amazing...
Fabio was an amazing guide and we loved how knowledgeable he is. We had the cenotes to ourselves which was absolutely magical! We were able to take our time in each and have opportunities to take photos throughout. The meal afterwards was delicious and it was a highlight of our trip. Just book with Fabio and have an amazing time!

Great experience
This was a very full day, but it was worth the early start to get a look at Chichen Itza and take photos without a hundred tourists walking in front. The lunch was great, and the small group format was also good, as we got to know each other a bit while eating. The cenote was very cold but for the most part we were the only ones there so it was like we had it to ourselves. Ek Balam was very much a highlight as you can actually climb the steps of the major structures and get a better sense of how people lived. Our guide was very informative, and our driver was very efficient. The tour operator arranged a time for pick up the day before the tour, and they were actually a few minutes early to pick me up. Total trip was about 11 hours. I'm very glad I booked this tour.

If you like food and want...
If you like food and want to find some hidden gems, this is the tour for you! Our guide, Alex, was knowledgeable, easygoing, and accommodating. The food we tried was excellent.
A note of caution: the address link we were given on Viator for the meetup spot was incorrect. We ended up having to take a taxi to the location. Thankfully, they waited for us, but this was stressful and an added expense that really shouldn’t have happened. According to our guide, this is something that happens quite frequently. Be sure to double check the address link they give you and the meetup point labeled in the instructions.

Best Excursion Ever
I have traveled a lot and done a lot of excursions and this was by far the best. Our guide was extremely knowledgable, fun, and empathetic to my fear of heights - but I conquered that!!! I especially like the cenote and special lunch. I would recommend packing protein bars or snacks as it is a long day and the climbing of Hoba will take it out of you. Highly highly recommend this excursion. It’s the best!!

Excellent job, especially Daniel Gallegos!!!
Everything was really great, the guides were very knowledgeable, drivers were very professional and the sites were impressive and the food amazing!!
Please make sure that Gaby, Lisandro (guides), both Ivan (drivers) they get our thanks for a very well done job!!
Special thanks for Daniel Gallegos, one of the drivers from Majestic tours that did an amazing job, very professional in a difficult situation. On our way back to our resort there was a huge accident that stopped the transit on the highway. Daniel did everything in his power to take us to our resort as soon as possible, talking to colleagues and finding out which was the fastest and safest way back to our resort. We would definitely recommend this tour with these guides, they went above and beyond!

Kansas gives them 10/10
We loved this adventure for many reasons: they were very good about communicating what the next stop would be, if we could leave or need to take our belongings with. The cenotes were absolutely beautiful and very different each one. We loved the zip lining and the kayaking and the swimming. 10/10 from Kansas girls!

Well Run and Enjoyable Trip!
We had a great time on this trip. We appreciated the balance of time to explore Tulum yourself, and the time spent with guide for background and history. The trip was well organized and well run.
It would have been nice to know about the lockers and changing facilities at the Cenote in advance of the trip, as well as the lunch option on site for purchase. We would likely not have gotten the plus package with the small, over-priced boxed sandwich had we known there would be a local cuisine option on site

Well-Organized, Smooth & Worth Every Penny!
Our guide, Rodolfa, was excellent—fluent in both Spanish and English, and made sure to translate everything seamlessly for the group. The team was very punctual. I initially expected the bus to make several stops, but they managed pickups very efficiently—mostly around Playa del Carmen—and even arranged separate vans for those coming from farther locations.
Our driver (I forgot his name, unfortunately) also deserves a mention for his smooth and safe driving.
One heads-up: I was low on cash and couldn’t tip them properly—definitely bring some extra cash because the guide and driver really earn it.
There is an additional $40 per person fee for Chichén Itzá entry (about $8 more than the standard rate), but it’s well worth it since you skip the long lines and enter through the VIP section.
Overall, it was a hassle-free and smooth tour. Personally, we would’ve loved a bit more time at the cenote and the colonial town, but that really depends on your own interests.
Highly recommend this tour for a well-organized and enjoyable experience!
