Excellent tour! Abbey was a fabulous guide! Best mole we’ve ever had and loved trying all the fruits at the fruit stand. One of the best food tours I’ve been on (and this is my 6th food tour in both US and Mexico). It was so much more than just food - culture, history, art, traditions. Highly recommend!

Nice for the local walk I would not have done on my own. Diego added a wonderful personal touch by beginning with tamale he brought to the tour! That was actually one of the best parts for me. The food was meh for me but others loved. I still loved the experience. Included fruit market, fresh fruit and fruit juice.

We just finished our food tour today. This is a one of a kind experience. The food spots were amazing and places my husband and I would have walked past. I’m so glad we decided to do this tour. Our guide, she was amazing. Super friendly and knowledgeable with the culture, food, architecture and art. Would highly recommend!

If you like food and want to find some hidden gems, this is the tour for you! Our guide, Alex, was knowledgeable, easygoing, and accommodating. The food we tried was excellent. A note of caution: the address link we were given on Viator for the meetup spot was incorrect. We ended up having to take a taxi to the location. Thankfully, they waited for us, but this was stressful and an added expense that really shouldn’t have happened. According to our guide, this is something that happens quite frequently. Be sure to double check the address link they give you and the meetup point labeled in the instructions.

Really glad we did this tour! It felt like it was off the tourist-heavy path, and I'm not sure we would have found the places our guide, Diego, took us to without the tour. Diego was fantastic a guide - he brought a white corn tamale with him for the group to try, and it was one of the best things we ate on the whole trip. We had excellent quesadillas, tacos, aguas frescas, and fresh fruit from a market. Highly recommend!

It was a great tour with lots of food to choose from. The host checked for allergies, dislikes, etc and was very solicitous to group. She explained all choices, sauces, toppings well so you knew if you would like it or not and was very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

Well organized, enjoyable, and very informative tour! Our guide, Enrique (sp), met us right on time and showed us more than we had expected. He was very thorough...took into consideration food sensitivities, the weather, and even tasting cups. We learned a lot! He was/is a true gentleman (we got to see him very kindly look out for an older gentleman who was in need of assistance getting a taxi). The tour was thorough, and all stops we visited were fantastic! We left very satisfied. He exuded the love of the Mayan culture.

Awesome Guide, Tasty Food with a High Price Tag

I thought the variety, knowledge and amount of stops was good. Marcel was great, he had an answer for everyone's questions and extremely friendly. I had some of the best quesadillas, tacos and mole dishes I've ever had. There was a decent amount of walking which is fine by me but not too much. I'd recommend comfortable walking shoes like lost walking tours suggest. My only criticism is the cost. The overall price gauging in Playa del Carmen is relentless and this follows suit. It was more than $100 CAD and I think for the cost of the combined food and tour guide's time should be $60-75 CAD. This is why it's a 4/5 star review.

Step away from tourist-land for a few hours and show up hungry. Fabiola was an amazing guide and knows her way around all the local spots. The best mole, tamale and birria I’ve ever had. And that was only half the food!

Delicious food and kind tour guide (Marcel)

We did the tour with Marcel. He was a really friendly guy and his English was perfect. The tour visits places that would be too "intimidating" for a tourist to visit (because of language barrier/local vibe.) But they were all clean and welcoming and the food was outstanding. Would recommend this tour to people who enjoy food and a little bit of local history. Marcel also asked whether we had food preferences/intolerances and how much we liked spice so he could advise what to choose from the options available (each stop had a couple of food flavour options, which was also a good tour feature.) Very cool food tour

Fun food tour in authentic restaurants in PdC. Even though the meeting point is on 5th avenue, all the restaurants are several blocks away and frequented by locals. The food was very enjoyable, and the tour guide Fabiola was very informative both about culture and cuisine. Highly recommended!
