Tour was thorough and the pace was great. We were there on a scorcher but David gave us plenty of time to chill and stay hydrated. Amazing site knowledge and all the little things you would miss without the tour guide was evident. A great experience and added to the Monaco experience.

We had an excellent private tour of the French Riviera with Alain, and I honestly could not have asked for a better guide. From the moment he picked us up at the port in Villefranche-sur-Mer, he was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely well organized. Our transportation for the day was a Mercedes-Benz van, which was very comfortable and made a big difference during a full day of sightseeing. Having a private vehicle allowed us to move easily between the different cities, viewpoints, and attractions without the stress of a large tour bus. One of the things we appreciated most about Alain was how well he managed our time. We visited a tremendous number of places without ever feeling rushed, and he always kept us on schedule so we could enjoy every stop and still return to our cruise ship on time. We began with some spectacular panoramic viewpoints overlooking Nice and the Mediterranean, as well as beautiful views of Villefranche-sur-Mer and its bay. Alain knew exactly where to stop for the best views and gave us enough time to get out, enjoy the scenery, and take pictures. In Nice, Alain showed us the historic areas of the city, including Place Masséna and the Fontaine du Soleil, the colorful streets of Vieux Nice (Old Nice), the Opéra de Nice, Église Saint-François-de-Paule, and the area associated with Sainte Rita. One of our favorite experiences in Nice was visiting the Cours Saleya Market, the local flower, fruit, vegetable, and food market. We really enjoyed seeing a place where locals shop and experiencing something beyond the typical tourist attractions. Alain explained the area and gave us time to walk through the market and explore. We also saw the impressive Monument aux Morts de Rauba-Capeù, overlooking the Mediterranean, and stopped near Fort du Mont Alban, where we enjoyed another incredible panoramic view over Nice, Villefranche-sur-Mer, the coastline, and the Mediterranean. We then continued to the beautiful medieval village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence. Walking through its narrow stone streets, historic buildings, art galleries, churches, and old fortifications was one of the highlights of the day. We visited the area around the Collégiale de la Conversion de Saint-Paul and had plenty of time to explore the village. For lunch, we ate at Restaurant Le Tilleul in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, which was an excellent place to stop and enjoy lunch surrounded by the atmosphere of this beautiful historic village. The restaurant also had an incredible view, which made the experience even more memorable. It definitely wasn’t cheap, but the food, setting, service, and views made it an excellent choice and well worth it. After Saint-Paul-de-Vence, we headed toward Monaco, and Alain again stopped at a spectacular panoramic viewpoint where we could see the Principality from above. The views of Monaco-Ville, the Prince’s Palace, Port Hercule, the yachts, the Mediterranean, and the city built into the mountainside were incredible. Once in Monaco, Alain drove us through the famous streets that form part of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix circuit. This was especially fun because the Monaco Grand Prix is held on the actual streets of Monaco. Being driven along portions of the circuit and recognizing areas from Formula 1 made the visit even more memorable. We then explored Monaco-Ville, or Le Rocher (The Rock). We entered Monaco Cathedral — the Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate, visited the Prince’s Palace of Monaco, and saw the statue of François Grimaldi “Malizia,” connected to the history of the Grimaldi family in Monaco. From there, Alain took us through more of Monaco and into Monte Carlo, where we visited the famous Casino de Monte-Carlo and the surrounding Casino Square. Seeing the Prince’s Palace, Monaco Cathedral, the Formula 1 circuit, the harbor full of yachts, and the Monte Carlo Casino all in one visit gave us an excellent experience of Monaco. Another thing that made Alain stand out was his personality. Don’t let the French accent fool you — his knowledge of American culture was incredible. We talked about everything from American culture to classic Hollywood Western movies, and his knowledge genuinely surprised us. In all the tours we have taken, I cannot remember having a guide from another country who knew so much about American culture. Alain was also extremely down-to-earth, personable, and a true gentleman with our family. He made everyone feel comfortable, treated us with respect, and made the entire day feel more like traveling with someone we had known for years rather than simply being driven around by a tour guide. What made this tour exceptional was not simply how many places we visited, but Alain himself—his organization, knowledge, personality, attention to timing, and the way he treated our family. He knew exactly where to stop for the panoramic views, showed us a genuine local market in Nice, gave us time to explore Saint-Paul-de-Vence, organized an excellent lunch stop at Le Tilleul, drove us through the Formula 1 circuit, and made sure we experienced the most important landmarks of Monaco and Monte Carlo. For anyone arriving by cruise ship in Villefranche-sur-Mer who wants to experience Nice, Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Monaco, Monte Carlo, local markets, medieval villages, the Formula 1 circuit, and some of the best panoramic views of the French Riviera, I highly recommend booking this private tour with Alain. Albano Made Our Last Day in France Unforgettable! We had one final day in Nice after a weeklong vacation in France, and I wanted to use it to explore a little more of the French Riviera. I found this tour on Viator and thought the itinerary offered a great opportunity to see several different areas in one day. I booked it for myself and my traveling partner, and I am so glad I did! Our guide, Albano Merna, reached out the evening before our tour to ask where we were staying and offered to pick us up directly from our hotel. I initially missed his message, so he went the extra step of contacting me using the number on my Viator reservation, which prompted me to check the app and connect with him. I was so pleasantly surprised to learn that he would pick us up at our hotel. This was especially appreciated because there were leg injuries in our little two-person group that made additional walking more challenging. Sure enough, Albano was waiting for us promptly at 9:00 a.m., exactly as promised, and we were off! Because we chose the earlier tour, we were able to get ahead of much of the traffic and many of the crowds. Throughout the day, Albano shared a tremendous amount of information about the places we were seeing. He explained the history and architecture of the region, pointed out the differences between older historic buildings and newer development, and even explained some of the restrictions involved in preserving historic properties. He was incredibly knowledgeable, but just as importantly, he was friendly and made everything interesting and easy to understand. We traveled through Èze and Monaco, visited the Prince’s Palace area and the beautiful cathedral, drove through Monaco’s impressive tunnels, and continued into Monte Carlo. Albano accompanied us through many of the sights and gave us wonderful historical context along the way. At the Casino de Monte-Carlo, he even escorted us into the lobby and explained its history. One of the biggest surprises was that we had expected to be touring with a larger group, but it ended up being just the two of us with Albano. It made the experience incredibly personalized. Instead of simply hearing a rehearsed tour, we were able to have real conversations and ask questions throughout the day. We learned not only about French and Monégasque history and architecture, but also about transportation and what everyday life and work are like in France. Those conversations were some of my favorite parts of the entire experience. We finished at the Fragonard perfume factory, where Albano arranged for us to take a tour inside. We learned how perfume is made, how essential oils and fragrances are extracted from flowers, and how they are incorporated into perfumes, soaps, lotions and other products. It was a wonderful way to finish the sightseeing portion of our day. Afterward, Albano drove us directly back to our hotel, which again was especially helpful given the mobility issues in our group. The tour is listed at approximately five and a half hours, which was about right for us, but the time absolutely flew by. Albano was prompt, kind, knowledgeable, accommodating and genuinely enjoyable to spend the day with. What could have simply been a sightseeing tour became one of the highlights of our trip and a fantastic way to spend our final day in France. I would 100% recommend this tour, and especially Albano. If you have the opportunity to tour the French Riviera with him, do it. It was absolutely worth it!

Best tour I’ve taken in the entire French Rivera! Gianni was a wealth of information and took us to places that were tourists would never be able to find on their own. He showed us hidden gems and secret pathways of Monaco. He took us alternate paths that are only known to locals that avoided the brutal July sun and walking excessively (especially up and down the hills). Even my grumpy 12 and 16 year olds were fully engaged and attentive the entire tour. You’ll be missing something if you don’t take this tour.

We saw all the points of interest from the comfortable seats in our van. Our guide was quite experienced and knew his way around the winding narrow streets of Monte Carlo as well as all other towns we visited. He guided us to a wonderful restaurant overlooking the water

This was a great tour. Gregory was our driver and tour guide and was very knowledgeable and accommodating as we wanted to focus mainly on Monoco and Monte Carlo. He took us to all the main key attractions and explained the history and even gave us time to explore on our own and gave us a great restaurant recommendation for lunch. The F1 race just ended the day prior so the area was booming and we were able to see some of the cars still and drive on the track as we're big F1 fans. He knew how to get around on those winding roads and avoid some traffic jams and get us back to the ship on time. Very enjoyable tour. Thank you Gregory for the great day! Arthur was an amazing tour guide. Very knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed our walk through Monaco. There are some barriers up due to the upcoming Grand Prix, but the city makes it essy enough to traverse around. It is very clean and welcoming. Be prepared for lots of walking. You will walk through all of the highlights starting at the Casino and ending at the palace gardens. The sights are breathtaking. The small group experience felt more personalized and less informal.
