Transnistria is one of Europe’s most unusual destinations, yet even many visitors never discover its remarkable collection of Soviet monumental art. Departing from Chisinau, this private tour brings together more than 30 mosaics and 10 monumental bas-reliefs hidden across Bender, Ghisca, Tiraspol, Blizhniy Khutor and Sucleia. Created mainly between the 1960s and 1980s, these artworks once decorated factories, schools, cultural centres, sports facilities, bus stops and public buildings. While many similar works disappeared elsewhere after 1991, dozens have survived here almost unchanged. No museums, queues or entrance tickets – just a journey through rarely visited cities, industrial districts and villages, exploring forgotten Soviet art with a local guide.

Go far beyond the usual sights of Tiraspol and discover the rarely visited south of Transnistria. This private tour connects six villages and small towns in one journey, revealing Soviet rural life through monumental mosaics, unusual statues, collective-farm architecture, and forgotten political symbols. See the Vostok rocket and oversized Lenin in Sucleia, a hidden mosaic bus stop in Caragash, and dancing collective farmers in Slobodzeya. Explore Chobruchi, once developed as an exemplary collective-farm village, with its sculptures, historic tractor, Palace of Culture, and monuments to farmers and space exploration. Contrast this rural world with Dnestrovsk, a Soviet energy town dominated by Prometheus and monumental mosaics. Finish in Nezavertailovca, where Karl Marx still stands outside an abandoned collective-farm administration. Travel by private car with a local guide and hear the stories behind places most foreign visitors never see.
