What are people saying about Mexico City

A Great Tourist Attraction
I have been a wrestling fan (though I’m lapsed now) for several years and going to an Arena Mexico show has been a bucket list goal for me for years. My husband is not a fan of wrestling nor is he interested in it at all. When we decided to spend part of our honeymoon in Mexico City, this was the one thing that I was adamant about doing.
We were in a group of five people with Arturo as the tour guide. I was the only person that was at all familiar with wrestling.
The mezcal tasting was fun. I had never had mezcal before (it’s kind of a smokier tequila), so it was new for me. There were a few different types we tasted and they ranged from ok to great. I liked it enough to try mezcal drinks elsewhere. The guacamole was really good too. There was a gentleman that would give some details about each mezcal (age, taste, how it’s made, and so forth) in Spanish and Arturo would translate to English. You can also try the grasshoppers if you want a more authentic experience.
The show was a lot of fun. If you are not familiar, Arena Mexico might be the most iconic wrestling venue in the world (the other options are in Japan, nothing in any English-speaking country comes close). Lucha is probably the most non-wrestling-fan friendly wrestling there is (the moves are generally acrobatic and the crowd is lively without being obnoxious). Arena Mexico holds around 15,000 people and the Friday show usually sells out, so if you’re a fan that isn’t in the area of the arena and/or with limited Spanish proficiency, this is probably the easiest way to make sure you get tickets and can navigate the arena.
My first recommendation is to go to the Friday show if you can. The Friday show is the main show. The other shows are secondary. If you are interested in the card, it is usually out on social media by Wednesday.
Make sure to grab some food before the show. The meet up spot is very close to a bunch of street vendors, so grab some tacos, a torta, or elotes. Expect about 2-3 drinks worth of mezcal before walking to the show (though you can obviously refuse a drink). It’s maybe a mile walk, so be careful about drinking too much. At the show, there are vendors selling snacks and beer, and they’re very attentive if you need anything. Arturo made sure everyone was safe at all times, which is great because it’s in a less nice neighborhood in Mexico City.
Most importantly, you do not need to be a fan to enjoy the show. Arturo explained everything that was necessary (without the torrent of details wrestling fans are known to give). The Arena Mexico show, particularly the Friday show, is basically designed to be tourist-friendly. It is very traditional lucha libre (2 of 3 falls; no hardcore matches; little to no wrestling chicanery, especially compared to other Mexican promotions). If you’re an American fan, leaving the ring counts as a tag (generally…it’s wrestling), so don’t always expect tags in a tag match.
I think everyone had a really good time. I know my husband was shocked at how much fun he had. For me, it was one of my favorite shows ever and my favorite for reasons outside of the matches (although I thought the main event we saw was great).

I had a great evening...
I had a great evening layover tour of Mexico City with Estefania! She was a fantastic tour guide who showed me around lots of historical sights and described the changing history of the city. She was great at adapting to what I wanted to see, and also brought me to some delicious authentic street food. It was the perfect way to spend a long layover.

Tasteful authentic experience
Fantastic, thoughtful and very pleasant experience with Ileana who guided us through the neighborhood market while sharing so much valuable and authentic knowledge about different fruits and vegetables we saw along the way. We were lucky to be the only family cooking that day and had the kitchen to ourselves. Illeana was patient, very knowledgeable and respectful with my teenage sons and thoughtfully engaged both of them in food preparation. Well done and thank you very much for giving us tasteful food and a great class!

Book the Experience!
My friend and I flew into Mexico City on a Wednesday morning and this was our first activity scheduled at 4:00 PM. Despite it being just me and her on the boat, it was SO much fun! We didn't expect to be as entertained as we were. Our guide, Fernando, did a great job of walking us through Xochimilco/ Mexican culture, history, and traditions! He was so welcoming, that I felt comfortable enough to try crickets. LOL. Since we visited on a weekday, the area wasn't as busy but that had its pros and cons - I can only imagine the crowds on the weekends! All in all, I do recommend this experience; it's a must! Hopefully you have a guide as knowledgeable, professional, welcoming, and fun as Fernando. Shoutout to Don Felix for keeping us moving so effortlessly!

Excellent Private tour of Teotihuacan
Fantastic private tour. They were very flexible with our timing for pickup and lunch. We went straight from Mexico city to Teotihuacan which meant we got there before all of the crowds which was nice. The tour guide Stephy had great English and was super knowledgeable about everything. There are lots of steps so wear comfortable shoes. We went to La Gruta for lunch, which was fine. The mezcal tasting and shopping stop after the pyramid tour was fun.

This trip was absolutely...
This trip was absolutely fantastic. If you can request Gerardo, please do. He was absolutely incredible, and overall things couldn’t have been better. The trip is totally worth it, and it was such a good idea to go early and avoid the massive crowds. Couldn’t say enough good things about the company, the Pyramids, and Gerardo!

Excellentravel is just that, excellent
Our experience with Excellentravel and our driver was outstanding from start to finish. He was right on time, extremely courteous, and made the entire journey both smooth and enjoyable.
What really set him apart was how informative and helpful he was throughout the trip. He shared great insights about Mexico City, pointed out notable landmarks along the way, and gave us excellent recommendations on places to visit. When we ran into issues accessing our tickets, he went out of his way to help us resolve it, which we truly appreciated.
His advice to start at the Temple of the Moon and walk back toward the Temple of the Sun was spot-on—the downhill route made the experience much more enjoyable.
Even at drop-off, when several roads were closed by local police for a festival, he navigated side streets to get us as close as possible to our hotel and provided clear directions for the rest of the way.
Overall, this was exceptional service. I can’t recommend this experience enough—truly a top-notch driver and a highlight of our trip.

Luxury Limo MEX Airport to downtown.
We were met after customs by a sign holding person who then called the driver. The vehicle was a clean Lincoln Navigator. Everyone was courteous and professional. Bottled water was provided. We were driven to our hotel with no issues.
However, although the Viator web site was relatively easy to use to make a booking from MEX airport to the hotel, it was impossible to navigate the site to make the return booking. The site asked about our return, but there was no capability to actually make such a booking. We were only able to do so directly with the driver on the way to the hotel.
In looking at other Limo services this problem is not unique to the one we chose. Viator needs to fix this. It is not a reflection on the very good service we experienced on the day.

Discovering Avocado Lane in Coyacan.
We were the only visitors in this group today. Thanks to Angel we had an excellent walk and he proved to be very knowledgeable and was a good Spanish teacher as well. His choice for lunch was a nice little food court featuring local food - we enjoyed the local version of quesadillas and learned a lot about local food preferences. We ended our visit with a short tour through the Mercado and a slow and gentle visit to the Frida Kahlo house museum. We now know Coyocan much better and we know some little laneways and shops thanks to Angel. 5/5 for sure. Good value for the cost.

Excellent service - friendly and safe driver
Very friendly driver who was patiently waiting for us after a flight delay of two hours. The car was spotless, and the drive drove safely. He oriented us to major areas on our way to the hotel, so we could get our bearings in the city. I’d highly recommend this service.

A jam-packed day!
Jorge & Guillermo were fabulous hosts! We saw a lot of places that we otherwise wouldn't have. Xochimilco was a highlight, with a private boat and some mariachi magic!
The local food recommends were absolutely delicious.
The historical knowledge shared was truly impressive.
Having a private tour gave us the flexibility to tailor to our likes, which helped us make the most of the day.
All and all, a wonderful tour!

Excellent tour
Our guide was very knowledgeable. He has a history degree and is very fluent in English and, obviously, Spanish. The tour was evenly divided between English and Spanish and the context switching was seamless.
We’ve been on a lot of tours and they all have an obligatory restaurant/gift shop stop. This tour is no different but the food and the shop were higher level.
We really enjoyed the whole experience.
