I had the BEST experience at Ramen Factory—honestly one of the highlights of my time in Kyoto! 🍜✨ I booked the 3pm ramen-making class and ended up having what felt like a private session for a big part of it, which made the experience even more special. The instructors were incredibly warm, patient, and knowledgeable, and I got so much hands-on guidance throughout. I was surprised by how approachable the noodle-making process is—we made the dough from scratch, and seeing it transform into real ramen noodles using the machine was so satisfying. The broth, on the other hand, gave me a whole new appreciation for ramen—it’s so much more complex and layered than I ever realised! The class was super interactive, well-paced, and really fun. You’re not just watching—you’re actually doing every step yourself, which makes it so memorable. Plus, getting to eat your own freshly made ramen at the end? Unbeatable. Fantastic, comprehensive and respectful experience, everything you could want from this kind of experience. I was a bit reticent as I didn't want to do any activities that might be voyeuristic or exploitative, but this wasn't the case at all. We felt very lucky to have had this opportunity. It was easy to find the location and the host was very helpful and responsive. The geisha (maiko) was very skilled, a beautiful dancer, and of course looked amazing. We learned about anything you could possibly want to know about being a geiko or maiko - and if they don't cover it, you can ask the question yourself. Highly recommend. Okini!!
