The best thing about this tour is your tour guide. Rob is an interesting, witty and caring person who is anxious to share his keen insights into various aspects of Japanese culture, religion and history. He makes the ride so much more than a pedaling experience. You will learn a lot - - including how to interpret the ah and um of Japanese communication - - and have fun doing it. This is a highly recommended five star experience.

We had an incredible time on our Kyoto bike tour! Our guide, Ray, was fantastic—extremely friendly, professional, and had a deep knowledge of the area that kept everyone engaged.
It was the perfect activity for our family. Our 10 and 12-year-old boys absolutely loved it. The tour offered a great balance of active riding and time off the bikes to explore a diverse range of sites. It’s a wonderful way to see the city from a different perspective.

Don was an amazing guide! Our family of 5 (3 adult boys) had a blast. Great way to see many things. We learned so much along the way. Best suited for those that are very comfortable on bikes and somewhat fit as there are a few hills. Loved it!

This a great mix of insta, culture, getting right into the lanes of Kyoto and contrast with the farming area to cycle through. Our guide Yuuki was fantastic and engaged with everyone to ensure they had a wonderful experience.

Our bike and walking tour around the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove in Kyoto was easily one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we started, it felt like we had stepped into a completely different rhythm of Japan — peaceful, scenic, and deeply connected to nature.
Biking through the countryside was absolutely breathtaking. We rode past quiet streets, lush greenery, and picturesque fields that you just don’t get in the busier parts of the city. It was the perfect balance of activity and relaxation, and a fantastic way to experience Kyoto beyond the typical tourist spots. The walking portion through the bamboo grove itself was just as magical—towering stalks swaying gently in the breeze, creating an almost surreal atmosphere.
What truly made the experience exceptional, though, was our guide, Yuki. He is incredibly knowledgeable and shared so much insight about the area, the temples, and local culture in a way that was engaging and easy to follow. Beyond that, he was genuinely fun and kind, bringing such a warm, positive energy to the tour. He was especially wonderful with our young teens—keeping them interested, entertained, and involved the entire time, which is no small feat.
This tour struck the perfect balance of adventure, culture, and beauty. If you’re visiting Kyoto and want a more immersive and memorable experience, this is absolutely the way to do it. Highly, highly recommend!

Our family had a great time. Going in the morning is definitely the way to go as Arashiyama can definitely get busy quick. We went in the spring so it was a bit cold during the beginning part of the ride, but gloves are provided. Don, our guide, was very knowledgeable of the area and Japanese culture. Our kids had a great time. Would definitely recommend for families with kids.

Yuki, Our tour guide was amazing and full of lots of great information. The sites were also amazing. I particularly liked doing the meditation tracing the Japanese characters.

We rode with Ray and did the early in the day tour (def would reco as it gets supppper busy). Our bikes had everything we needed: a helmet, water, gloves. Ray was an excellent guide - kind and knowledgeable and made everyone feel right at home. We loved every bit of this tour and it felt like such a unique experience and perfect way to explore a piece of Kyoto.

Our cycling tour through Arashiyama was the highlight of our Kyoto trip! Rob was amazing; incredibly knowledgeable about Japanese culture, Shintoism, and the shrines we visited along the way. He was so engaging and fun that the whole morning felt less like a tour and more like exploring with a friend - complete with a stop for a crème brûlée doughnut! He also took some wonderful photos and videos for us along the way. Highly recommend!

Yuki is an awesome guide—very knowledgeable, easy to follow, and actually fun to learn from. Makes everything feel relaxed and enjoyable. He took a ton of photos at each of our stops for our group. Had a great time on the bike tour seeing temples, bamboo forest, and other hidden gems. Big recommend!

We loved the bike tour of Arashiyama. Rob was awesome and very knowledgeable; we learned a lot and had fun riding around areas of Kyoto we wouldn’t have gone to without a bike. The bikes were in great shape and easy to ride, and communication before and after the tour was easy.

This was one of the last few items to cross off my bucket list for Kyoto and it did not disappoint. I had Ray as my tour guide accompanied by Dawn. The guys were highly knowledgeable about the locations we visited. Ray is a sweetheart and kind souls, really felt leaving like I bonded with a friend in the short time. Highly recommend. We loved this break from the Kyoto crowds. Our guide Milo was amazing. Funny, kind, patient, and knowledgeable. Tour included a ride through the rice fields in addition to temples and shrines. Our 11 year old loved it as well.

Ray our guide was full of information and knowledge. Was a great way to see the back streets of Kyoto.
Biking was easy and not difficult.
Entry to the sites was easy with Ray taking the lead.
We learnt so much and it was a great way to see the sites and a change from walking.

Excellent bike tour of Kyoto-guides were great and bikes in excellent condition which is a plus on a bike tour! We were a little late and they graciously waited for us. Go on the early tour but realize travel time from an eastern hotel will take time!

Great experience for family with pre teenagers before iPhone and social media kills curiosity. Cycling experiences are needed. Guide is safety oriented and very interactive with all. Ask for Yuki as guide

Our tour guide, Yuki was fabulous!! He spoke perfect English , shared many stories about the culture past and current, and answered all our questions in depth. In addition, the bike tour took us to places that would be unreachable by foot in a few hours.

This is a nice way to get to see the area. We learned a lot from our guide. The gardens at the temple by the bamboo forest were amazing. You cover way more area on the bike versus walking. Communication was excellent, the company was very organized.
