Our driver/ guide was excellent. His name is Malik. He is very good driver and speaks fluent English. He is very knowledgeable about Kyoto’s major attractions. The car was very comfortable.

Malik was very good, as an older couple he was very patient with us and let us explore at our own pace. Yes would recommend him.

Dahanu was our guide. He was simply fantastic. We saw a lot of the major sites in Kyoto but never felt rushed. More importantly, Dahanu clearly cared that our experience was as great as it possibly could be.

Expect to pay 20000 yen to go to Kyoto and an additional to go to Nara in cash. No receipt. If you ask for a receipt they will charge you extra. Very disappointed with this. I don’t care about the additional cost but I would like proof that I paid! Having said that our driver was kind and courteous and very helpful. Great with my brother who is in a wheel chair.

This was a fantastic tour with a fantastic guide. Ange was so good in asking what our needs were and changed the tour to suit our group. She was very calm and relaxed throughout the tour and I would recommend this company to anyone interested. Malik was the best! Drove safely, explained the history of all the sights, adjusted our times for the extreme heat, went out of his way to find fans for us to buy to help us with the heat and took great pictures. It was also a lovely, very comfortable air conditioned van.

Malik was incredibly flexible with our schedule and we covered many locations in just one day! We started early and started in Arashiyama and also went to many other landmarks. It was truly an amazing way to cover so much ground in Kyoto.

Our tour guide was Malik. We were able to see a lot in a short amount of time and he shared facts on each of the stops. Since we were ahead of schedule he was kind enough to fit in a stop at Nijo castle. Informative day out and my family enjoyed the itinerary provided.

Dahn is a very wonderful and nice human being with a great deal of knowledge for all the sites and town of Kyoto. He encouraged us when we were tired to see more and take pictures. He's a great photographer. Highly recommend his services.

If you’re considering this tour, book it. Akii made what would have been a great sightseeing day into one of the most memorable experiences of our entire trip to Japan.
From the moment we met him, Akii was warm, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. He didn’t just drive us from one attraction to the next—he brought Kyoto to life. Even between stops, he pointed out hidden gems, explained local customs, shared fascinating bits of history, and highlighted places we never would have noticed on our own. By the end of the day, we felt like we had learned as much about Kyoto as we had seen.
Our itinerary included Arashiyama, where Akii shared the history behind the famous bamboo grove and surrounding area; the stunning Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji), where his stories made the temple’s history even more meaningful; the vibrant Nishiki Market, where he helped us navigate Kyoto’s incredible food culture; the historic streets of Gion, Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, and Yasaka Pagoda, where he explained the traditions that still exist today; the breathtaking Kiyomizu-dera Temple with its incredible views; and the iconic Fushimi Inari Shrine with its endless torii gates. Every stop felt richer because of the context and stories Akii shared.
What impressed us most was how accommodating he was. We were traveling with an older family member, and Akii constantly looked for ways to make the day easier. Whenever there was a steep climb or a long walk back, he would run ahead to retrieve the car and meet us at a more convenient location so our family member didn’t have to retrace difficult paths. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask.
The tour was also incredibly flexible. If we wanted to spend more time somewhere, make an unexpected stop, or adjust the itinerary, Akii welcomed it without hesitation. We never felt rushed, and the entire day felt personalized to our family rather than following a rigid schedule.
By the end of the tour, Akii didn’t feel like a guide anymore. He felt like a friend proudly sharing the city he loves. His professionalism, kindness, deep knowledge, and genuine care for his guests made this one of the highlights of our trip to Japan.
If we return to Kyoto, there is no question we’ll book another tour with Akii. We recommend him without hesitation. He didn’t just show us Kyoto—he gave our family memories we’ll treasure for a lifetime. Five stars simply don’t do him justice.

Akii was great. He took us to several places. What impressed me most is how he went out of his way even taking time to meet me in a store to give me my passport I had left in the car.

A great way to get around Kyoto and see many sites in one day! Saved time with the back and forth travel to focus on the actual sites. Especially helpful when it was a rainy day.

We had a fantastic experience with our driver and guide in Kyoto. He was incredibly flexible and accommodating, allowing us to adjust our schedule throughout the day based on what we wanted to see and how much time we wanted to spend at each location. He also provided excellent recommendations on timing, which helped us avoid crowds and make the most of our day.
One thing we especially appreciated was that he walked us directly to the entrance of each site, making it easy to navigate and ensuring we always knew exactly where to go. His English was excellent, and he shared a wealth of knowledge about Kyoto's history, culture, and the places we visited, which made the experience much more meaningful.
Beyond that, he was simply a warm, friendly person who was easy to talk to and made us feel comfortable throughout the tour. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a personalized and informative Kyoto experience.

Mozam with Ashan Global Tours was simply the best tour guide and driver we have had in a long time, and we have used Viator extensively during our travels around the world.
Mozam is a college student with a genuine passion for the history, culture, and hidden gems of Kyoto and the surrounding area. Before our tour, I provided him with a detailed list of places we hoped to see. I honestly did not expect we would be able to visit them all, but Mozam made it happen—and then exceeded our expectations by introducing us to several other points of interest that we would have otherwise missed.
His planning and driving skills were exceptional. Navigating through busy city traffic with ease, he carefully mapped out the most efficient routes, minimizing time on the road and maximizing our time enjoying each destination. Every stop felt well thought out and perfectly timed.
What truly set Mozam apart was his attentiveness and flexibility. Whenever we finished a location sooner than expected, he was immediately ready with the next destination. We had a wonderful experience with our guide Shah. He kindly came to meet us at our ship in Osaka. Once in Kyoto he took us to several important sites We were very impressed by his explanations and knowledge. He even took us to have an excellent Ramen lunch In a place he personally knew. He was very pleasant. Very professional. Made the experience very enjoyable. I would say I highly recommend him. I would ask for him personally if you choose this experience. 5 stars.
Honorable mention to driver Sam. He drove us all around Kyoto very efficiently and professionally. We felt very safe in the car. He drove us back to Osaka after the experience even though it was late Very impressed by both guys
