Top Bergen Day Trips

Great bus ride/driver and provide lots of stops for bathroom breaks and/or stretch your legs. Our tour guide Azul was amazing and provided a wonderful history lesson during the ride. Hike to the glacial lake was amazing - it’s very well paved so you could do it in sneakers.

This is hands down the best tour of my entire three week vacation, mainly because @Regina is a stand out tour guide! We had a small group- she did a great warm-up and safety intro then it was on to all things Bergen and history. The path of the tour was fun, the views spectacular and the historical details Regina provided were informative. This is a must do tour while in Bergen.

Martin is particularly knowledgeable about the history of Bergen and the larger political history of northern Europe from the time that the city was settled. His tour and walk provided a great historical context to the sights we saw up to present day. He was personable and offered practical suggestions for ways to take advantage of Bergen’s food options.

This was an excellent and well-organized tour with Travel North! Our guide, V was fun and helpful, sharing stories about all our destinations and keeping everyone entertained. We were able to stay on schedule to see all the destinations on the itinerary, despite some group members being a little inconsiderate of instructions at times. We traveled on the same bus throughout the whole day, so we were able to leave personal belongings there comfortably. The bus was clean, air-conditioned, and had charging ports which was convenient. We didn't feel like we needed to take much with us every time we got off the bus, except for a water bottle during the hike and any personal essentials like phone/camera, lip balm, etc. There were lots of stops for bathroom breaks and cafes/drinks/snacks along the way. The hike to Bondhus Lake was fairly easy and took about an hour and a half total from the starting point to the lake all the way back to the bus (depending on your pace). The views were incredible and it was wonderful seeing all the little towns and villages, learning about their traditions and culture, and meeting locals throughout the tour. We got really lucky with sunny weather, but I would recommend wearing light, breathable/comfortable clothing and bringing a hat and raincoat just in case. I wore hiking boots, but regular sneakers would probably be sufficient for the whole day. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour for anyone traveling to the area.

This tour was an awesome, fiord-packed 12 hour day! Driver Torgei and guide Helene provided a well- organized and interesting tour deep into the fiord country. A view from the mountain top, a stunning ride through a narrow fiord, picturesque farms and a waterfall made this a feast for the eyes. Comfort stops were frequent, but were not time wasters. If you only have one day to see the fiords from Bergen, this tour is the one!

This tour was amazing! Tracy our guide and Micheal our driver were excellent. Very informative, knowledgeable and witty. We learned so much about the area. The boat ride through Fjords was absolutely beautiful! Everything was organized and we had no problems at any of the stops.

The tour was great. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The pace was good as we explored the area around the city center. It was a good opportunity to taste Norwegian food. But best of all, she did a great job of telling the history of the city. Lots of great stories. The restaurants/bars we went to were off the beaten track. It was a nice walk through the streets above the harbor. Nice, nice people in tge group!

Jandis was a wonderful guide. She picked us up at the cruise terminal and for an extra fee, she dropped us off at the airport for our flight home. I love that she made suggestions on where to go/what to see in Bergen as this was our only day in the city. She covered a lot in the 3 hour-tour that I had scheduled. I will always opt for a private tour even if it's more costly. You save time and you get to see/do what you want.
