I had an absolutely...
I had an absolutely unforgettable experience exploring Addis Ababa with Teddy and Alex! 🇪🇹❤️ This was so much more than a sightseeing tour it was an informative, educational, and exciting journey through Ethiopian history, culture, adventure, local food, coffee, and everyday life.
One of the highlights was Mount Entoto, the highest point in Addis Ababa, where the breathtaking panoramic views combine the vibrant city with the beautiful surrounding countryside. Standing there and learning about Emperor Menelik II, the history of Addis Ababa, and the cultural importance of Entoto was fascinating. Teddy explained everything so clearly and made the history easy to understand and genuinely interesting.
The adventure continued at Mercato, where I experienced the real everyday life of Addis Ababa. Walking through the bustling market, seeing local traders, discovering traditional products, interacting with people, and learning how the market functions gave me a fascinating insight into daily Ethiopian life. It was lively, authentic, and full of unforgettable moments.
I also visited Tomoca Coffee in Piazza, one of Addis Ababa’s historic coffee institutions. I learned so much about Ethiopia’s famous coffee culture, purchased freshly roasted Ethiopian coffee beans, and enjoyed an authentic coffee experience. The information about Ethiopian coffee, its traditions, and its importance in everyday life was incredibly interesting.
I also had the opportunity to try a local Ethiopian breakfast with the locals, interact with people, and experience everyday life from a truly local perspective. These experiences made the tour feel authentic and educational rather than simply visiting tourist attractions.
What impressed me most was how flexible and completely customizable the experience was. Teddy and Alex never rushed me or pressured me to move to the next stop. I could take my time, ask questions, take photos, interact with locals, or spend longer at places that interested me. Everything was organized around what I wanted to experience.
Teddy was an extremely informative, knowledgeable, professional, and well-trained guide. He shared fascinating stories about Ethiopian history, culture, traditions, food, coffee, and daily life. He was patient, friendly, and always happy to answer my questions.
Alex was an excellent and highly skilled driver. His driving was smooth, careful, professional, and reassuring. I always felt safe and comfortable on the road. The vehicle was brand new, exceptionally clean, spacious, comfortable, and fully air-conditioned, which made the entire experience even better.
As a solo female traveler, I felt completely safe, respected, and very well taken care of from beginning to end. Teddy and Alex were kind, attentive, professional, and genuinely passionate about showing me the real Addis Ababa.
This tour gave me everything I hoped for: history, adventure, culture, breathtaking views, local food, Ethiopian coffee, Mercato, and authentic everyday life. Most importantly, I learned so much along the way.
I strongly recommend this experience to solo travelers, solo female travelers, first-time visitors to Ethiopia, or anyone looking for a safe, informative, flexible, and authentic introduction to Addis Ababa.
Ask for Teddy and Alex you will be in excellent hands! 🇪🇹✨
I came as a traveler and left with unforgettable memories, a deeper understanding of Ethiopian history and culture, and a huge appreciation for the people and everyday life of Addis Ababa.
Absolutely fantastic, informative, educational, and full of adventure from beginning to end! ❤️

Great way to see the countryside and get outside of the city!
It was really cool to see the countryside and what things are like outside the city. Our guide Niko was excellent. He explained things to us as we drove to the destinations, and shared about Ethiopia. He even brought us to some places to shop for coffee after we got back to Addis. He took us to local places to eat and try the local beer/liquor which was really cool because we never would have done that ourselves.
The church had so much history and was beautiful. A priest showed us around and took us through the museum. The Portuguese bridge was stunning. The waterfall and the views from the top were beautiful.
I would definitely recommend!

Book This Tour!!
We had an early evening excursion time due to our layover so certain places were closed. However, Athnatios and Yonas still made sure we had a good time. We absolutely enjoyed this excursion. We got to see the first church of Ethiopia and take in all the history, we went to the highest point of the city for stunning views (better than the views from the empire state building), and we tried some good local cuisine. They were so knowledgeable and just fun to be around. I only wish we had more time. Book this tour!

Great Addis City Tour
We had an amazing day exploring Addis Ababa with our guide, Desale. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about sharing the history, culture, and daily life of Ethiopia. Throughout the tour he made us feel comfortable, answered all of our questions with patience, and showed us places we would never have discovered on our own.
The tour was well organized, flexible, and perfectly paced. Desale’s enthusiasm and professionalism made the experience even more enjoyable. By the end of the day, we felt that we had gained a genuine understanding of Addis Ababa rather than just visiting the city’s main attractions.
If you’re looking for a guide in Addis Ababa, we highly recommend Addis Authentic Tours. This is also a great way to use your layover if you are transiting.
Thank you for making our first day in Ethiopia such a memorable one!

The guide Gebru is really sweet and funny, and makes the tour enjoyable.
Its quite adventurous so be prepared for that. Can get hot as well, dress appropriately. Watching the baboons is fun, and the stained glass is pretty but the view from the Portuguese bride across the gorge is absolutely fantastic.
The food is excellent as well, and so is the coffee.

A day at Addis Abeba
Addis Abeba is an amazing city and I couldn’t have a better tour guide as Desale and Kulen as a great driver. Desale was very knowledgeable and explained me a lot about the history and the culture of Ethiopia. He ensured that I enjoyed every moment and ensured that I didn’t missed all the important sights. He is very professional and was very flexible to adjust the program to my needs. I was astonished on his presentation & explanation at the museum and in all other places we visited

Addis+ tour
Biruk, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and really provided good options to see in the time constraint that we had. The driver was also extremely good. They picked us up from where I was staying, which was not a conventional hotel, without any problem. We went to the National Museum, Mt Entoto where we saw a great view of the city and had a traditional coffee ceremony with food. We drove by the market and went to Holy Trinity Cathedral. It was the Muskel celebration day, so he also gave us perspective there-was a great experience before having to fly out that night.

Interesting sight seeing
Joseph was a fine guide with knowledge about his country. He was a gentle guide from the pickup at the airport until the drop off at the hotel. The city tour is a must if ever someone is visiting Eddis .The palace, the national museum and the view of the city from the mountain plus major roads that shows how this city is .I recommend this excursion.

Do your research...
My husband and I were unable to do this tour. I'm giving a 5 star review because it is in no way the fault of the tour operator. The city looked very interesting from the airplane window, so we were super disappointed that we weren't able to explore it. I'm leaving a review as a heads up to others who want to explore Addis Ababa. Customs WILL NOT let you take binoculars out of the airport. Zoom lenses on cameras are ok though. Go figure! There is an option to store valuables at the airport, but it was a complicated process and we were not comfortable with it. (I would need to lock my binoculars in a storage cage then use a different exit separate from my husband. We envisioned not being able to find one another on the other side!) Our plane was a bit late and by the time we sorted through the issue, we were 2 hours late for the tour anyway. I had connectivity issues with my phone so I was not able to contact the tour operator to let them know not to expect us, and it was another reason why I didn't want to separate from my husband. The worst part was not being able to get back to the departures area and through security until 3 hours before our flight, so we sat around baggage claim for 5 hours. When it was time, we had to be escorted by customs to the departures area since I had binoculars in my carry on. We are seasoned travelers and I'm usually very good at researching foreign country requirements but never came across any info from customs about binoculars. Also, heads up that if you are a US citizen, be sure to get a tourist visa to exit the airport. There is a "visa on arrival" counter, or you can purchase one on-line in advance. In general, bring your patience and be prepared for a chaotic **** show at the airport.
