What are people saying about Johannesburg

See Johannesburg
We certainly learned a lot about apartheid and the chaos surrounding ending it. After visiting many of the key sites, we had a buffet lunch in Soweto. Definitely a unique environment. However, be prepared for the grittiness of Johannesburg (unlike Capetown). It's a poorer city with many challenges.

Excellent tour and guide! Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful experience touring Soweto and the Cradle of Humankind with Pastor. He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to throughout the day. We were able to ask lots of questions, and he shared so much interesting information about Soweto, Johannesburg, and the history of the area. You can really tell he knows the region well and enjoys sharing it with visitors.
Pastor also took some great photos for us along the way, which we really appreciated. The pickup and drop-off from where we were staying was seamless and made the whole experience very convenient.
One small tip for future visitors: if you are doing the Soweto portion of the tour, it’s a good idea to bring some extra cash for tips when visiting certain areas within the township. It was a very eye-opening and meaningful experience, but we wish we had known ahead of time to come prepared with small bills. That said, this is more something the tour description could mention and not a reflection on Pastor at all.
Overall, we had a fantastic day and would absolutely recommend Pastor to anyone wanting a thoughtful, informative tour of Soweto and the surrounding Johannesburg area.

Impactful Experience
The Nelson Mandela House was engaging and informative. The Apartheid Museum was a riveting and impactful experience that wrapped guests in a full circle experience of the history of the struggle for freedom and equality for SA Natives. Our tour guide was very helpful and informative, as was the guides at Mandela House and the Apartheid Museum.

Great safari day
We had a wonderful full day safari experience. Our driver Sibu was excellent. He was prompt, professional, and drove very safely, which made the long day comfortable and stress free.
The safari itself was fantastic and the guide did a great job helping us spot wildlife. The braai lunch was also a highlight of the day. The food was delicious and it was such a fun way to experience local culture. Everything was well organized and we had a great time from start to finish.

Collins is truly a jack...
Collins is truly a jack of all trades. There is much more to him than meets the eye. He has a natural ability to retain factual information and deliver it in a way that is thoughtful and engaging. He may be subtle in his approach, but he is incredibly impactful.
In our personal conversations, we could sense that we were speaking with someone who had depth — someone with a story. It is humbling how easy it is to get caught up in your own world, your own challenges, and your own perspective, only to realize how much larger the world truly is. Our ride with him was amazing.
Now, onto our safari guide, Moosana. This man absolutely knows what he is doing. We loved every single moment of the safari. We were fortunate enough to see all the animals, and he went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome. Not only did we experience incredible wildlife sightings, but we also learned fascinating facts along the way.
If you are thinking about booking this tour, stop thinking and just book it. You will not regret it.
And one piece of advice — bring money to tip your drivers and tour guides. They work incredibly hard at what they do, and they deserve every bit of appreciation you can offer. Their dedication and effort truly make the experience unforgettable.

A great history lesson when time is limited!
This was an excellent overview tour of the city, especially if you have limited time. Especially interesting was the add on Soweto tour: a MUST! The live guide for that tour was out standing, knowledgeable and loves his job! We do the bus in all new cities a d we’re reluctant here because holiday had the museums closed but the ride, sites and I formation were plentiful.

Excellent tour of apartheid history
The day tour of Johannesburg and Soweto apartheid history was informative, educational and moving. The tour guide and driver, Gabriel, was very good in explaining everything and answering my questions. The guides at Lilies Leaf farm house and Constitution Hill were also thorough in showing us the horrific history of apartheid and how the political prisoners were treated in humanely. The visit to Mandela's first house, and the houses of different classes of people living in Soweto were also educational. Overall, it was a very good tour and I highly recommend it.

One Day in South Africa..
A great way to spend the one day I had in South Africa! Pick up and drop off from my hotel at the airport made it easy. It was a long drive to and from Johannesburg, but worth it! I saw 4 of the big 5 on my first ever game drive, plus many other species. Martin was an excellent guide, he clearly cares and knows a lot about the animals.

A meaningful day - not worth missing
This tour/programme is a very well-organised and packed one. You will have a long and busy day, but at the end of the day you will be full of sense of pleasant satisfaction and you will say 'It was worth doing that'. Our guide, Thapelo was a perfect guide. He was helpful, well-organised, concentrated. He provided a lot of information, kept time strictly (it was needed because of the number of visited sites). We got everywhere in time and had everywhere enough time to enjoy the sites. If you are interested in or want to be involved into the history and culture of South Africa, or to understand why South Africa is like as it is today, this tour is a perfect choice. Highly recommended.

Big Five at Kruger!
September 26 and 27, 2025: Kruger National Park
After the long drive from Johannesburg, we finally arrived at the Numbi Gate entrance to Pretoriuskop Camp at Kruger National Park.
After checking in, we were accommodated in “glamping” tents, with cots and mattresses, linen, blankets, etc., and electricity (but no WiFi 😁).
After lunch and a short rest, we were picked up for our Sunset Safari with our guide, Den Nhamuche — an amazing driver and guide with phenomenal eye for animals in the dark, including little chameleons to owls and hyenas. After a five-hour drive around Kruger, we returned to our camp area to the most wonderful dinner with red wine.
We were woken up just around 4:30 am with a gorgeous symphony — the Avian kind — of trills, tweets, whistles, grunts, and other sweet sounds (bummer I didn’t think you record). Our morning guide, Cee-Jay, took us around the park. The guides are in constant communication with each other via two-way radio and WhatsApp for information on the location of animals. The guides drive back and forth, making u-turns and k-turns to try to get to the best spots. After driving around for approximately three hours, we stopped for a 30-min break at Skukuza Camp for breakfast that the safari tour company provided. Then we were off for another three hours around the park. After lunch at a restaurant at Pretoriuskop camp and short break, we were off for another drive through the park for two hours.
We covered significant distances throughout Kruger National Park, which is almost 20,000 square kilometers, straddling two South African provinces, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
The goal for all safari tourists and for the guides is to make sure we see the "Big Five," i.e., Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino, and Buffalo. Over the two days we did! The persistence of the guides is impressive.
All in all, it was an awesome trip. If you have an opportunity to see Kruger National Park.

Pretoria is a beautiful...
Pretoria is a beautiful city with buildings having a very interesting architectural style and it is full of beautiful, colorful trees. Soweto gives the chance to visit the slums. I had the luck to meet some traditional zulu men wearing their traditional clothes. Johannesburg has a pleasant down town where I could walk around and see interesting squares and places.

MoAfrica and Carson top notch safari experience
Carson from Mo travel was our van driver and took us to the lion park as well as helped us do some shopping. He was very attentive. He dropped us off at the hard rock on the way back and made sure that our group of nine was safe and secured the whole time we had a fabulous time. I highly recommend Mo Africa and Carson for Any excursion in South Africa.
