Excellent Full Day Introduction to Addis Ababa

We had an excellent full day tour of Addis Ababa with Teshome. He was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and engaging from start to finish. He explained the history, culture, and architecture in a way that was easy to understand but still very thorough and insightful. The tour was well organized and efficient, and the hotel pickup and drop off made the day completely seamless. We covered the major highlights without ever feeling rushed. Teshome answered every question thoughtfully and added context that made each stop more meaningful. If you’re looking for a comprehensive and well run introduction to Addis Ababa, this tour is a fantastic choice. Highly recommend, especially with Teshome as your guide.

A must when in Addis Ababa

We had a very short stay in Addis Ababa so we took this day trip which turned out excellent. Our guide Teshome Antachew has good English and he explained well in detail about the places we visited. He was very helpful and attentive to our needs as we wanted to buy coffee and certain souvenirs. The driver was very cautious while driving too. We had a wonderful tour in Addis Ababa and truly enjoyed every part of it. The guide was very knowledgeable, friendly, and fun, and explained the history and culture in an engaging way. We especially loved visiting the local restaurants, where we tasted delicious Ethiopian food and learned more about traditional cuisine. The market visit was a highlight—colorful, lively, and full of energy, giving us a real feel for daily life in Addis. Everything was well organized, relaxed, and enjoyable. Informative tour, great way to spend a day in Addis

Luel (guide) and Yonas (driver) were fantastic! I have been in Addis for a week for work and haven't had the time to see the city. They were right on time picking me up from my hotel Saturday morning and it was a very small group tour. My highlights of the tour were the museums and lunch at Addis Ababa Restaurant. Luel walked us through the National Museum of Ethiopia and the Ethnographic Museum, explaining the importance of each display, giving us a real understanding of how they relate to the history and culture of Ethiopia. It was such an informative crash course on all things Ethiopia. At lunch, Luel helped me find a meat/sauce combination with the injera that I loved. I'd had trouble until then because I do not handle spice well but he was incredibly understanding and was very attentive to ensuring I ate enough and that I was enjoying the food. I so appreciate his knowledge, friendliness, and helpfulness throughout the day. I feel like at least I have come away from this trip knowing more about Ethiopia. I feel content that I got to see a wide swath of the city in the little time I had to explore it.

Luel (the guide) and Yonas (the driver) were fantastic! Luel was so knowledgeable and his English was perfect. His tour of the National Museum was full of info. I learned so much that I tried to take notes during the tour so I've at least remember some things. Unfortunately the market was closed on Sundays, so we couldn't visit that. I had the best macchiato of my life at Tamoca. I was a solo female traveler and felt completely safe and comfortable with them and was even able to leave my bags in the car at each of the stops. I also appreciated their flexibility. They happily picked me up at a hotel after I changed my pickup location last minute, and they made sure I got back to the hotel with enough time to make lunch and my flight back. (I cut my tour short to do this - they also would have just picked up and dropped off at the airport too.) Luel also wisely suggested skipping lunch, which is normally part of the tour, and seeing landmarks instead since I didn't have time for the full tour. I had a 10.5-hour layover and we did a 4-hour tour. They are so good I would come back to take a longer tour of Ethiopia with them in the future! 10/10 Side note to fellow travelers: you don't need to get a visa if you have a very long layover and get a hotel voucher from Ethiopian Airlines. It comes with a visa. I couldn't find anything online about this and got a visa for the layover tour, but that was a waste of money.

This is one of the best city tours I've ever taken. Excellent driver, knowledgeable guide with great communication skills, and a nice variety of experiences (museums, viewpoint, church, and market). If you have limited time in Addis, this is a great tour to cover the highlights. I'm here during low season so I ended up having this tour solo. We went to two museums, a church, Entoto mountain, a few nice parks, a traditional restaurant for lunch and Tomoca Cafe for a really good machiato. The guide Adisu is knowledgeable, professional, friendly and is able to adjust the schedule on the go. The hotel pickup and dropoff has made it easy and convenient also.

Luel & Yones were so kind, empathetic, friendly, and interesting. The tour was truly enriching, full of history and social insights and music in the car. The highlights were being taken to the best local restaurant (yes, raw meat 😉) and visiting an antique record/book shop, since the market is closed on Sundays — it was literally paradise for me.

Great experience touring the city, visited the national museum and saw ‘Lucy’, the institute of Ethiopian studies at the university, drove through the city and saw a lot of landmarks and visited the famous Addis Ababa restaurant. Couldn’t visit St. George’s Cathedral because it was closed for construction. Overall it was a perfect introduction to Addis and I’ll highly recommend this tour for any visitor to Ethiopia!

I had a really interesting and full day tour around Addis Ababa. Went to all the spots I was interested in. Whole day was trouble free and very very interesting. The market was wild crazy and fun to drive through. Lunch was a true experience in taste. Even though it rained that was not impacting anything. Loved my day. My guide Desale and driver Joseph were perfect fit together. Desale is very knowledgeable and knew everything I asked. Also he had a fun humour which I liked very much. Joseph certainly drives safely and was incredable how he navigated around the city with ease. Thanks very much for a great introduction to Ethiopia and for a brilliant day.

My husband and I had a stopover in Addis Ababa for a little over 24 hours. We landed, checked in to our hotel, and were picked up the next morning by Luel and Nebeyou for our tour. They even let us keep our luggage in the van for the day and dropped us off at the airport for our flight home. Luel was a wonderful guide. He speaks excellent English and is easy to communicate with. He’s intelligent and gave thoughtful answers to my many questions about the Ethiopian customs and culture. He obviously cares a great deal about his country and its people and seemed very happy to share his enthusiasm and knowledge with us. A highlight of the day was having lunch with him at the oldest restaurant in Addis and having an authentic Ethiopian meal including honey wine (and meeting the women who make the wine)! Nebeyou was an excellent driver, and we felt very safe the whole day. Don’t hesitate to book this tour. It really opened our eyes to the beauty and also the struggles of Ethiopians. Luel also guides multi day tours outside the city; we would feel comfortable booking these with him as well.
