A must when in Addis Ababa

We had a very short stay in Addis Ababa so we took this day trip which turned out excellent. Our guide Teshome Antachew has good English and he explained well in detail about the places we visited. He was very helpful and attentive to our needs as we wanted to buy coffee and certain souvenirs. The driver was very cautious while driving too. The best Addis tour guide ever!

If you’re looking for a tour of Addis, look no further. Gashaw was the best guide we could have imagined! He is insanely knowledgeable on everything Ethiopia, from current events to ancient history, and clearly has a passion for sharing that knowledge. He was super open to changing around the itinerary throughout the day based on the things we showed interest in, and could tell when we were getting tired and were ready to call it a day (but he totally would have kept going if we wanted to). He also generously got us lunch which wasn’t supposed to be included in the tour price, and went out of his way to take us extra places that weren’t part of the original plan. He was also totally open to me filming for my travel vlog YouTube channel and would give me a heads up when we were coming up on something that would make good video content so I could get the camera rolling. This experience exceeded every expectation we had, and we’ll be recommending him and Aspire Ethiopia Tours to everyone we know.

We had such a wonderful day exploring Addis Ababa with Merit Ethiopian Experience Tours. Our guide, Biruk, was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and very flexible. Even though we arrived late, he was so kind and patient, waiting for us without any issue. One of the great advantages of this tour is that the driver is separate from the guide, which made transportation smooth and convenient. We were able to get dropped off right at the sights and picked up again easily without any hassle. Our day included a visit to the Palace Museum, where we learned about past Ethiopian rulers, and a stop at a local home for the traditional coffee ceremony. Getting to participate in the process ourselves was a real highlight and gave us such a personal connection to the culture. We also appreciated being able to customize our day. Biruk helped us fit in our own preferred stops and even arranged for a late lunch at a skybar restaurant, which was the perfect ending to the tour. Overall, this experience gave us a true taste of the people, history, and culture of Ethiopia. We left feeling enriched and grateful. Highly recommend!

Walked me through the national museum, drove around the mountains and the market, and took me for some coffee - all within the 4hrs I had! Would definitely recommend (and would definitely do again) for a layover.
