Honeymooners in Switzerland

KRISTINA_R, Oct 2025
This is a must see. A great few days of rest and relaxation. My husband and I did this half way through our Honeymoon as a reset.

Should not be called a tour

Stephen_H, Nov 2024
This was not a tour. We were bused to the cable car to Mt Rigi. The tour escort then left us. There was confusion about our booking, and then they realised they had not given us our accomodation vouchers.

Response from Host, Nov 2024

Dear Stephen, Thank you very much for joining our Mountain Wellness tour and for taking the time to share your feedback. We genuinely appreciate your thoughts as they help us improve the experience for all of our guests. We’re truly sorry to hear that the tour didn’t meet your expectations. As outlined in the Viator description, the tour includes guided assistance from Zurich to Weggis on Day 1 and from Lucerne to Zurich on Day 2. For the individual activities—such as the ascent and overnight stay at Mt. Rigi on Day 1, and the descent and boat ride to Lucerne on Day 2—guests receive tickets and a detailed written itinerary. This tour is an extended version of our partially guided tour to Mount Rigi, and we apologize if this information wasn’t clear, leading to any misunderstanding. We would like to apologise for any confusion regarding the accommodation vouchers. While they should be handled during check-in, unfortunately, there was an oversight during your tour. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we resolved the situation. Despite these challenges, we sincerely hope you enjoyed your time at Mt. Rigi and had a chance to unwind in the mineral baths with their breathtaking views. We wish you a wonderful continuation of your journey, and we’d love to welcome you back on another tour in the future—perhaps one of our fully guided experiences. Best regards, Magdalena from Best of Switzerland Tours

More specifics would make a great trip better

maryann_R, Sep 2022
We had a wonderful time. The mountain, the people, the food, the wine were all so special. However, we suggest that the tour would be much more enjoyable for people if we were given more detailed instructions in writing as to where to go and what to do in each place. We did not have internet most of each day so no GPS and no instructions did not allow us to see all that we wanted to. For example, when we arrived in Mt Rigi, the instructions we had led us to believe that the hotel was at the summit of Mt Rigi. It is not. Rather than a gondola and train schedule, written instructions would be much more useful. Such as, exit the gondola and walk out onto the plaza, your hotel will be directly in front of you. Drop your luggage there and then head to the train station which is on the opposite side of the plaza to the right as you walk out of the hotel. You can take the train up or down the mountain. If you go up, you will go to the summit where you will find hiking trails, a viewing tower, a restaurant which is cafeteria style with a large deck. Here’s what we recommend….. When you go to dinner at the hotel, the restaurant where your dinner package is included is on level 1 (not the large restaurant on the plaza) and this is also where your breakfast that is included in your package is served. It was also not clear to us if we could go explore the other towns on the train line with our same ticket, like Wiggins for example. The spa and mineral baths were lovely and enjoyable. There is no gym to speak of at the hotel. The second day, same feedback….can you get off the boat and get back on without buying a new ticket? Is ghe restaurant on the boat any good? Our driver from day one told us there were lockers to store our luggage in Lucerne. He may have even told us they were in the train station. However it would be so much more helpful if we had written instructions that said get off the boat, head toward the large archways that lead you to the train station. Enter the station and go to your far left to track 15. Walk about 100 meters past a bakery and the lockers will be be on the right between you and track 15. We also would have appreciated a list of things to see in Lucerne and directions. For example we did not find the lion monument and without GOS we just didn’t get to see it. Can you rent bikes in Lucerne? Is there a tourist office there? If so where? Perhaps the MOST important thing is crystal clear instructions on where to meet the return bus and what to look for (a photo of the bus and the location). The driver from day one said, behind McDonalds. First question, is there only on McDonalds in Lucerne? Second, this Mc Donald’s literally had 3 fronts. There was no clear back. Third, we came in a 10 passenger van and came back on a coach bus and did not know wha we were looking for. How about, the Mc Donald’s is in the building with the Hotel Monomet. It is across the street from the train station. If you walk out the front of the train station where the arches are you will turn left, cross the street (the name of the street would be helpful) and you’ll see the hotel/McDonalds. The large coach bus will be on the street to the left of the building again, name the street. We waited over 39 minutes past departure time for people wandering all over Lucerne looking for this bus. Why not provide a map with all of thes critical items as well as attractions? There was a tiny cartoon map of Lucerne in our packet but nothing was marked on it and it had nothing discernible other than the covered bridge on it. . Just a few hours of preparing a great visitor packet would have made this so much better. You must assume that visitors will not have internet access to look things up.

Definitely worth the money. Make sure you travel light as you cant check in until 15:00. Although you can leave your luggage in an unsecure room until then which isn't covered by security. I only had a back pack so i just carried this with me until check in. From arrival, at the hotel from a aerial car you get to stunning veiws from the hotel and from here upto mount Rigi Klum by cogwheel train you see phenomenal veiws. The hotel included a stunning 4 course dinner, access to the spa which is out of this world, and breakfast also included. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. Fantatsic excursion and price to go with it.

So this was a special trip for us...

Malik_H, Oct 2016
So this was a special trip for us since I asked my girlfriend to marry me. During the two weeks trip to Europe, we decided to do about 4 tours. 3 from Viator and 1 direct. This one was the worst out of all. I am not kidding. We regret paying for this tour since it was basically a transport to/from. Let's start from beginning, checking in took a while since they are also selling the same tour for walk up which meant that things were rushed. When we got on the small van, we did not have room for our small duffel bag since we were doing overnight while the rest of the 6-7 passengers were doing the day only. I had to ask the driver to see if he had storage in the back or by the passenger seat foot area he was not a happy camper to help us. Once on the road, the driver/tour guide barely spoke English. He would describe the area we drove through in french for 8-10 mins and say one line in English. On top of that, there was a family who had their own translator so that person was than translating French to another language for them. Imagine hearing two different languages for 85 mins. When we got to a stop, the driver said to hold while he went got all our tickets. Came back, gave the tickets and said read the paper instructions you got at check in for rest of schedule. It will tell you what time to take what and left. This is very bad since all of us were confused as to what we had to do. When I asked about our return and where to go, he said its in the paper. You could tell he had no interest. We finally made our own way to the top and checked in to hotel. Turns out hotel dislikes guests that are part of a tour. We were giving a room with twin beds and said that's all they can extend since we didn't book directly. I was even willing to pay out of pocket for a larger bed. Furthermore, I asked about dinner and breakfast that were included in our tour and were told contact the tour company. That didn't help. Finally found someone local who just happened to be there and who explained that the hotel/restaurant will not care for your service since you are not paying them directly. Instead he helped us out with pointers and guided us on what to do. Just shocking. No worries, we tried hard to not let this bother us. But twin bed on a romantic getaway is a nightmare. When the dinner time came, they had assigned seating. Guess what, a table in the back corner of the restaurant with two sides to the walls and no view of the window/mountain. When we asked for a different table, we got the answer, you cannot change since you booked via tour. Lovely : At this point we tried our best to make the best of it. Asking for a water refill was even a nightmare because you could tell the staff were more focused with real paying customers. We called it a night and went to bed after dinner. Next day, we got up and were excited to check out of this nightmare of a hotel. Grab a quick bite for breakfast and made our way to the top sine it was snowed in the night before. When we got to the top, the stairs were closed since it was not safe according to the crew that worked the area. No worries. Took about 3-4 photos and got ready for the boat ride to next stop. From here we were on our own since the paper just had time slot to follow and that's it. The best part of this trip was what we did on our own. We had more flexibility and options than being locked in. The day was over so we followed the directions for pick up and headed there. We saw the bus for the company and hopped on showed our ticket for the return to the driver. While we waited for about 15 mins the bus was not leaving. I got curious and went down to task a tour guide that was there. She said they were waiting on a couple who had an overnight stay. I said thats us and showed the ticket again. She was so upset that we did not check in. I told her that we had shown this to the driver. She said driver is not ours and you should be on the other bus since thats what the paper said. I was like paper doesn't say anything except to look for a bus with your logo and pickup location. I apologized and tried to explain we were doing what we thought was correct. No apologies from the other side instead a mean look. They told the other bus we were here and we left. At this point, we were just happy to be done with this tour and get back to our romantic trip. Never again I would be interested in booking a tour that deals with this third party booking company.

This is an amazing experience, definitely do this! Views, nature, mineral baths and city of Lucerne are 10 out of 10! Good for people of any age. You have exactly enough time for everything. Note! In mountains is colder then in the city, I was in October, temperature was around 0 degrees celsious, so don't forget a warm cloth.

My husband and I loved this tour! It showcased the beauty of Switzerland. The hotel we stayed at was exceptional. We had the Swiss alps as the view from our room window. Everything about this tour was perfect. If you want a romantic getaway this is the perfect tour to take.

This was an incredible tour. The guide was very informative the whole trip up the mountain. Our room was upgraded to a balcony which was good, however that meant they switched us to twin beds instead of a double which was a little annoying. The views from the top were spectacular and if you are in reasonably good shape you can see how far down the mountain you can walk and catch the cogwheel further down or at the top if you prefer

If you can splurge a little on your trip to Zurich this is what you want to do! Highly recommended as a romantic getaway. There are three distinct parts of the trip. FIRST you drive through the Swiss country side which is beautiful then you head up Mt. Rigi which is a neat experience to see the alps and get a little hiking in. When there are no clouds the views are amazing! SECOND you go to the Rigi resort - Room had a breathtaking view, mineral baths were awesome and relaxing make sure you go downstairs to the crystal bath and the four course dinner is excellent and very romantic expect 2 - 3 hours for dinner because the courses are fairly spaced out The next day you get to wake up to an amazingly large breakfast buffet and enjoy the mineral baths all to yourself and then start the THIRD part of the excursion- Head back down the mountain, get on a boat cruise and head to the beautiful Lucerne! The city has beautiful water ways and we spent our day shopping and just walking along the water enjoying the views. Overall a fantastic way to enjoy Switzerland! Everything they say is included is and the guides provide you with excellent direction and a cheat sheet that is very helpful! Follow the times on the cheat sheet. They are on point. The cogwheel train runs on a specific time every hour so make sure you keep track of that. They give you the option to drop your luggage off at the hotel on day one before heading up to Mt. Rigi so if you take advantage of this be cognoscente of the time the cogwheel train leaves because if you miss it you have to wait a whole hour or start hiking! We got lucky and made it by one minute but that would have been a big bummer if we missed it because you can't check into your hotel until the afternoon. Food is pretty expensive in Switzerland but there was a grocery store right next to the hotel for snacks which was nice. I recommend packing lunch on Day 1 to eat at the top of Mt. Rigi bc lunch is 20/person. OVERALL 5 STARS!

Charis L, Dec 2013
I've been extremely pleased with the tour right from the last minute booking I made on the phone. Viator accommodated me despite me booking the tour later than the online 48hr deadline. They also managed to arrange for a odd pick-up location along the route out of town despite my tight schedule that would have made me miss the bus. Most of it was a self tour, but with rather clear guidelines. Great touch from the tour guide to provide us with a little folder with all the necessary information. The folder fitted snugly into my travel clutch. Mount Rigi was definitely worth the stay, the mineral baths were great - literally overlooking the alpines. You might want to check up on the weather, as you won't be able to see much if there's too much fog. I was lucky as the fog cleared up on my second day, so I got to dip in the baths with the amazing views before I left. The hotel staff were great and for those who don't own swimwear, you could well loan a bathing suit directly from the hotel. It's probably advisable to go as a couple or with company if you're doing an overnight stay as there is a candlelight dinner and was mighty awkward for me as I traveled solo. Neat collection of drinks at the hotel bar, so going with friends will be enjoyable too. my only gripe was that I was given a room without a view, turns out a couple that arrived half an hour before me was given dibs to my original room that had a view. The Lake Lucerne Cruise is a great way to travel, as you're flanked by mountain ranges that are absolutely breathtaking. Trip back to the hotel was great, with a friendly guide whom I sadly forgot to tip in my sleepiness. She offered to drop me straight at my Youth Hostel as it wasn't a busy night. Fantastic experience and very helpful staff from Viator and all other partners!

Kimba, Nov 2013
Beautiful scenery, relaxing minerals pools with glorious views of the Alps. Not really a tour, since the bus dropped us off at the tram station and we were on our own to get to the hotel and back to Luzerne the next day. We never found the bus which we were to take back to Zurich and ended up spending an additional $100 for train tickets home. The hotel tried to charge us for dinner and the room since they weren't informed that it was prepaid. Definitely a lack of communication on the tour company's part.
