    Yellow tours: City tours

Tour is half in Mandarin Chinese, half in English, got to see some of the really cool highlights of yellowknife, the Pilots monument and old town and ice road were really neat. The wildlife gallery exhibited the local animals and gave a glimpse of the world of Taxonomy. Felix was a great guide! Definitely recommend this tour !

    Local Yellowknife history and recommendations!

The tour and tour guide was fabulous!! Not only did gendi (sp) provide a wonderful explanation of all sites, but she made dinner restaurant reservations actions for us! The visitor’s center gave us a certificate and a Yellowknife pin along with local restaurant recommendations! Do not miss the northern wildlife museum! Unbelievable and the demonstration of the taxidermy art was wonderful!

    Very interesting

Our guide, Angus, led us on a tour starting with visits to the Bush Pilots Monument, Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly, and Nature's North Wildlife Gallery, which was very interesting and featured an array of taxidermy animals. The owner also provided insights into the taxidermy process. Subsequently, we obtained a certificate from the Yellowknife Visitor Centre before concluding our tour with lunch at a local restaurant.

A Great Way to Get to Know Yellowknife and her People

    Rand_W, Jan 2025
Exceeded expectations. We learned about the indigenous population of the NWT (a subject neglected by the Alberta public school system when I was growing up way back in the last century:) Yellowknife is no longer the scrub town I remember when I visited over 40 years ago but a growing city contains over half the population of the NWT with some thoughtful, pragmatic but beautifully designed government buildings honoring the history and spirit of indigenous people. The museum is well designed and a highlight. Walking 88 steps up "The Rock" the highest point overlooking Yellowknife and the Great Slave Lake is a must: very vile that day but fun. Our guide Verda made our tour a great experience. If you have never been to Yellowknife or like me--have not been to Yellowknife in a long time--I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour.

Good way to see and learn about Yellowknife

Guide was knowledgeable and very friendly. One of the stops advertised was omitted- believe it was closed though. That said, would still recommend.

    Response from Host, Jul 2024

Dear Pauline, Thank you very much for your positive review and recommendation of our City Tour! We only skip a stop when the location is closed or not operating on that day. To avoid any misunderstandings in the future, we will update our description for reference. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Best regards, Yellowknife Tours

They pointed out interesting highlights of the town and were very interactive with the group as they're guided us through the museums and legislative building. City Tour with Added Bonus

Well organized tour. It seems like all the tours go to all the same places - Pilot Monument, the Visitor Center, the Legislative Building and the Prince of Wales Museum. My only criticism was I wish I had more time at the Prince of Wales Museum. It is really nice museum. I’m not sure but I think this is the only tour that goes to the Nature’s North Wildlife Gallery and that is why this city tour costs a little more than the rest. But the wildlife gallery is amazing and it was worth the extra cost! It is a world class and apparently award winning duo who are experts in taxidermy. The animals are artistically and beautifully mounted. Every single species of all the animals that habitat the NWT is in this shop. I learned a lot of to art of taxidermy and we were able to feel the different animal pelts.
