This was amazing, you get to see off the beaten path wineries and Edo even added in a coffee and pastry stop. He is so knowledgeable about the area and wines. If you are looking for something different than the typical wine tasting I highly recommend. One of the best tours I’ve been on!

Highlight of my time in Turin!

Was a very lovely outing that didn’t feel like a stuffy or formal tour, but a day out with friends sharing in a thoughtful delicious journey

Amazing, authentic (not touristy) local experience with knowledgeable and friendly guide!

This tour is a genuine local experience, you will see unspoiled, off the beaten path beautiful wineries in the mountains and meet friendly local people and enjoy home cooked, hand rolled pasta. This is not a typical tour to a crowded place filled with tourists. Actually, we did not feel like tourists at all, more like we were visiting a friend who was happy to share all his favorite local knowledge, which is considerable. Having grown up in the area, our guide shared extensive information about Turin and the Piedmont region, the grape growing and wine making process and, most helpful of all how to pair wine with food so that both become more delicious! In addition to making sure my friend and I had the best possible experience during the tour, our guide Edo provided a detailed list of the best places in Turin for authentic Piedmontise food and drinks, and even helped us get reservations for dinner! Edo is the real deal with a genuine desire to help you experience the most beautiful sights and tastes of the area. My friend and I even hope to take this tour again with our spouses and/or other friends! We give it our highest recommendation!

Edo, the operator, was a fantastic guide, friendly, fun and very helpful. The tour was very unique experience in a very good way because not many tour operators go to that area. The Vineyards and wineries that we went to was local boutique. They are all very kind and generous. It felt like home. We tried hidden, but very delicious wines. Especially lunch that we have was fantastic home-cooked meal. I was so nurturing. Edo made this whole trip so much easier for everybody from the beginning to the end. I can’t thank him enough to make this trip so special.

A Superlative Wine and Food Tasting in Piedmont!

From the moment I booked "From Turin: Forgotten Wine Trails of Piedmont" through Viator, Edo’s exceptional service began. He proactively reached out via WhatsApp even before my arrival, offering invaluable advice about Turin and Piedmont. His dedication shone through when he invited me on a complimentary pre-tour food exploration of Turin four days prior—a gesture that set the tone for an unforgettable experience. Edo curated a bespoke journey through the city’s culinary soul, guiding me to hidden gems only a local connoisseur would know. We visited historic cafes and artisan chocolate shops, savoring delights like gianduiotto while Edo wove stories of Turin’s gastronomic legacy. There were visits to the local bakery and also a weekend open-air market where I got so sample some Piedmontese Toma cheese. This wasn’t just a food tour—it was almost like a masterclass in culture and history on the go, culminating in lunch at a very special place next to a cathedral (BOTH of which are must go-to places). On the day of the main tour, Edo picked me up promptly at 10:30 AM near the Po River. This was closer to where I was staying and better for me compared to the previously agreed-upon place cited on Viator. Our first stop was Caluso, renowned for its crisp Erbaluce white wines. We strolled through sun-drenched vineyards, followed by a heartfelt lunch hosted by the winemaker’s family. Edo’s expertise brought depth to every sip, especially when introducing the elegant Spumante Brut Metodo Classico—a Champagne-style gem distinct from Prosecco. Next, we ventured north to Carema, a breathtaking region near the Piedmont-Val d’Aosta border. Terraced Nebbiolo vineyards clung to alpine slopes, framed by snow-capped mountains. At a local cooperative, we sampled robust Nebbiolos, their complexity echoing the dramatic landscape. Edo then surprised me with a detour to Val d’Aosta’s Pont Saint-Martin to check out an ancient Roman Bridge. It was where alpine architecture met with rugged vistas and landscapes and it certainly felt worlds away from Turin. A stop for artisanal gelato—crafted from local dairy—was the perfect sweet interlude. As the day closed, Edo extended the tour beyond the promised 7–8 hours, culminating at Superga Cathedral for a golden-hour panorama over Turin. By 9 PM, after 10.5 immersive hours, I’d gained not just knowledge of Piedmont’s wine heritage but also a genuine friend in Edo. Here are some of my final thoughts. This tour is a wonderful lesson in passion-driven hospitality. Edo’s deep expertise, generosity, and knack for crafting unique moments—like the spontaneous gelato stop or sunset at Superga—elevated the experience from “tour” to treasure. If you seek more than just wine tastings—a journey through history, culture, and human connection—book this. Edo isn’t just a guide; he’s one of Piedmont’s finest ambassador, if not THE finest. Bravo, Edo! Your dedication is unmatched—thank you for an extraordinary adventure! PS I remained excited about the trip even after it had ended and thus I introduced a colleague who was about to visit Turin to Edo. He did the food-tour with her family; and I can say she was well pleased!
