This tour did a great job in showing us around the old town and give us some great food to taste as we went along. Rabab was a great guide. The coffee and mint tea were top notch. Probably would pass on the meat market next time . It was an uphill walk from the cruise port but was doable.

Very enjoyable and educational tour with Hana. She showed us the local markets inside the medina and introduced us to local dishes. A great way to learn about the the Old Town portion of Tangier.

Tangiers in 3 hrs.

Doable Day Trip and Fantastic Foodie Tour!

I can’t say enough good things about this tour with Mohammed as our guide. We were fortunate to be the only guests during our tour so we had a private guide for three hours. Mohammed first took us through the “new” city before guiding us through the Medina and souks. He explained more than just food traditions, but also a lot about Moroccan culture and politics. He is incredibly knowledgeable (with impeccable English as well as speaking many other languages and dialects) and he has personal relationships with many of the vendors we visited. All of the food we tried was new to us and delicious — amazing green tea with mint, local breads with cheese and honey, the best olives, dates and nuts, a fantastic smoothie, pea soup at a tiny local shop you’d never find on your own, and a fish pastry, then followed by a full meal of chicken and vegetable tagine and kebabs. You will not be hungry at the end of your tour! We did our tour on a day trip from Tarifa and the timing worked perfectly with the ferry. We stayed in an apartment in Tarifa (Puerta la Mar on booking.com) right by the port where we parked our car overnight, then we walked over in the morning to board the ferry that left at 9 am. We had the perfect amount of time after disembarking the ferry to walk to our meeting place with Mohammed (less than a mile, but you could take a cab), and then after the three hour tour, we had enough time to make it back for the 3 pm ferry back to Tarifa. Certainly wished we could have spent more time in Morocco and we hope to go back, but if like us, you’re seeing the south of Spain in a relatively short time frame, this trip is doable, and I can’t imagine having any comparable experience without Mohammed as your guide. Everyone we encountered was very kind to us, but we would not have known where to start on our own, and we learned so much that we never would have known without a guide. There are trips the start in Tarifa with a guide who will lead you on and off the ferry, but I doubt you would have the same experience we had with a local as knowledgeable as Mohammed (especially if you’re a foodie). If you’re debating this tour, all I can say is, we are so glad that we did it and we’d tell anyone who has a chance to do so!

Do Not Miss This Tour!

Fantastic tour with Anas! More food than we could ever eat (but we loved it all) and wonderful time walking and enjoying Tangier including old town, markets, shopping areas and so much more. Thank You!

Food tour in Tangier

On a recent trip to Tangier, my wife and I had the good fortune to take a food tour with Mohammed as our guide. Our goal was to wander through local souks, and to get some sense of what life might be like using food as a common thread. Mohammed is an exceptional guide. he brought us to neighborhoods that he has known since childhood, gave us the opportunity to sample a variety of foods, walked us through remarkable specialized souks, and provided an explanation of what we were seeing. When the tour was officially over, Mohammed continued to show us some additional sights: well above and beyond. As a tour guide, he did a great job of respecting the privacy of residents while satisfying the curiosity of his clients. If this is the sort of thing that appeals to you, I highly recommend taking a tour with Mohammed.

Fantastic food tour

This was an excellent tour. We are a family of 4 (two adults, two kids aged 12 and 14) Mohammed was a great guide. We loved all the stops he took us to. In particular we loved experiencing the locals market- we were the only tourists there. There was so much food, and it was all really nice. This was a fantastic way to see Tangier.

Best Food Tour Ever

Mohamed was amazing! He took us through the areas and markets we never would have been able to discover on our own and was exactly what we were looking for in our tour. One of the best on our trip and definitely the best food tour we've taken.

Don't think, book this tour

In over 30 years of sailing this was one of the top tours we have ever had. Wonderful guide who taught about Tangier and Morocco, while providing a very positive experience.

Always tour with a local!

Mohammed was a great tour guide — he took us around the new city to explore smaller markets before taking us into the kasbah. Along the way we stopped for snacks while learning about the history of the international city. Finally, we had a filling lunch at a local spot in the kasbah. Would recommend for anyone visiting Tangier!

The Best Way to Explore and Eat in Tanger

Daniel_R, Oct 2023
Our guide was incredible and informative. It was the perfect walking tour, with lots of food and history. Abdel catered the tour to what we wanted and what we already saw. We ate a wide variety of local dishes and got to visit a variety of shops and markets that would've been impossible to see otherwise. Although the tour is pricey, it was well worth the money and would highly recommend it to any food, culture, and history lovers. I can't imagine a better way to explore Tanger.

A great way to get to know the city

Such an enjoyable 3 hours spent with Mohammed, who is a native of Tangier. Learned so much about the city and its food, and we saw places that we would otherwise have missed. We would thoroughly recommend this trip. Thanks so much Mohammed!
