This experience was fantastic! Bilal and Sana were amazing hosts, and it was such an authentic experience cooking in their house. They were so fun, and the food was incredibly delicious. It was great to learn about the Medina and the pharmacy on our walk to his house from the port, and he even showed us a beautiful spot to watch the sunset after the cooking class. Recommend to anyone looking for a great experience in Tangier.

Take the good with the bad

Al_M, May 2025
The guide was late for pick up, and we went to look for him. When we finally found him he said he was there the whole time, which he was not. This did not set a good tone as we started our day together. The sightseeing was fine and he was well informed and helpful. The tour included a camel ride, but when we got there he said we had to pay 20Euro extra for the "good" ride. The best part was the cooking experience at his home and with his family. His wife and children were lovely and very welcoming in their home. The meal we made together was delicious and enjoyable. Afterward he led us on a tour through the city market, and took us specifically to places were they were waiting to sell us rugs and other things. This felt very "set up" and not what we wanted - and did not get to spend the time shopping through the market on our own as we would have preferred.

Hi Al, First of all I spent more than 45 minutes waiting for you at the door of the cruise ship,I was there holding a sign having your name on it.you came out the ship and you started to walk outside the terminal.Ive texted you the day before saying that I will.be at the front of the ship amd don't go outside the terminal, which you didn't care about what I've told you and you went out the terminal and I had to Waite for you too long.and I've called you several times and your phone was off all the time.that you told me you were afraid to be charged by your Sim card company if you answer to my call.... I've emailed you several times through viator and there's proof of this...you didn't even answered.even all of this I was there waiting for you till you decided to get back to the cruise Terminal and then you founded me.(I could just leave after 10 or 15 min when you didn't showed up at the time of the reservation, but I didn't and I was there waiting ) Comserming the Camel ride it's included the small Camel ride and it's mentioned in the tour program.you didn't want to have the small tour and you preferred to have the Camel ride by the beach and longer, which you had to pay the extra fee which was 10€ each.and you agreed with it. Which you didn't paid for it neither....I had to text you the next day to ask you to pay for what I have paid for you....which is I never had this kind of experience with no one of my guests. And it's very clear in the what's included in the tour that the small the Camel ride is included but not the big one by the beach. Conserning to the candcraft store,it's a part of the visite in the Medina and I've asked you of you'd like to visite it and you said yes you were interested in seeing it.we went there just for an idea and you asked for a mint the which it was their hospitality and you went out without any problem and you didn't booked anything from there to say that you wasn't happy with or something....so I don't understand that you're claiming on something that you've asked to see..... I have introduced you into my house and into my family and this is how you thank me ????

One of the best experiences ever

Sylwia_W, Sep 2024
We had a fantastic experience and really enjoyed cooking session with Bilal and his wife. They welcomed us in their house and made us feel like part of family. Cooking session was great and food was very delicious. All ingredients were fresh and good quality. I can’t wait to cook the dish for my family when i get back home. Bilal has lots of knowledge about Tangier and history of Morocco and has lovely family. It was one of the best experiences and i would recommend this to anyone who likes to cook or wants to learn about the culture of Tangier. Thank you for the amazing day.

Highly recommend if you want to know more about Tangier

puihing_m, Jan 2024
We start the class by shopping the meat and vegetables in the market with the tutor together. Then we went back to the home for the cooking. His wife was here to assist the class too. It’s a very nice, clean and safe place for the class. We talked about the daily life when we cook. Indeed, the tutor does have cooking backgrounds, and he can speak english very well. You can ask for some travel advice if you need, as the tutor was born in Tangier. He’s very local and familiar with all the local transportation and travel stuff. Everything is opened to discuss by your thoughts and requests. We highly recommended to join this class!!

Bilal, our host for the cooking class was extremely warm and friendly. He shared lots of interesting stories about Moroccan culture including some historical background, cousine, the people and their way of life. The whole cooking experience was wonderful and the food was really tasty. It is a must to try when you are in Tangier. So, please do not hesitate to book this cooking class when you are in Tangier!

Authentic Moroccan Experience

MaryBeth_W, Oct 2023
What a wonderful time we had with Bilel and Sana and their delightful family! We felt so welcome in their home and really enjoyed learning to make authentic Moroccan dishes to eat. In addition to tangine, bread, and salad, they taught us how to make delicious Moroccan Whiskey (mint tea). We really appreciated being invited into their home and we highly recommend this experience. Bilel rearranged his schedule to accommodate us and communication with him was very easy on WhatsApp.

Hello mary! Hope you're doing.I wanna thank you for your kindness and trust. I appreciate your value writing this comment. Hope to see you again

Beware of scam to purchase carpet.

Pauline_S, Oct 2023
The cooking experience itself was wonderful. Bilal’s wife had all the ingredients prepared and cooked with us explaining everything very clearly. We made bread, Arab salad, chicken Tagine which was delicious and herb tea, for which we bought herbs at the market. But the booking said the tour also included a trip to the cave and a camel ride. This did not happen instead we were taken to a Burber co-op gallery and a pharmacy where we were heavily pressured to purchase products. Got caught up and spent 350 euro on a carpet and oils. It was the most expensive lunch experience. Don’t really need the rug so a regrettable experience. The cooking would have been favourably memorable but not now.

Response from Host, Oct 2023

Hello Pauline, First of all I wanna thank you for sharing your feedback. At the main time I wanna clarify something.for the Experience that you've booked,it has 2 options. Option 1 is : Cooking Class and Sightseeing Tour (140$ per person) Option 2 : Just Cooking Class (70$ per person) And you booked the option 2. You've paid to Viator 70$ per person. And I alreafy sent you an email saying and asking that I can provide you a sightseeing tour of the city,as you haven't booked it.and you said NOT.you just wanted to have the Cooking Experience and the Market.and this is what you got. Conserning to the Visit to the Berber Co-op gallery and Berber Farmacy, it's a part of the culture which is included on the Experience to have an idea about the Berber Culture and Handcraft Generaly.and I have asked you if you'd like to visit it and get an Idea about it,and you agreed and said yes you wanted to go there.and ofcourse there was no pressure to buy anything.you were intrested to buy,but no body obligate you to do so. Is there a lot of people that go there just have an Idea and they leave having an information about.which is the most important for us.and in the main time there's poeple that are not intrested,so they don't go.if you bought something,is because you wanted it and you liked it.but never was somebody obligating you to do something that you won't. But in your case in particulary,I have asked you,and you were very intrested in visiting it.and even after ending the experience you said that was your highlight of your trip.... Thank you anyway for your time spent writing the beedback

Great food and experience

5-star cooking class, 3-star walk home

Annie_T, Jun 2023
5 stars for the cooking class! Bilal and his wife are lovely humans and very talented cooks (his wife went to culinary school and suggested he add a cooking class to his touring business). Bilal met us on foot at our AirBNB and we walked 10-15mins to the market for ingredients before meeting his wife in their home for the class. It was just me and my mother, so it felt like a private class. The meals were superb, we can't emphasize this enough! We each made our own hefty serving of bread, salad, chicken tagine, mint tea and fresh fruit, and ate together with Bilal and his wife after everything was done. They are easy to communicate with and very funny. His wife did not speak English but was very much part of the conversation. They answered any and all questions we had about cooking, Tangier, and the diverse Moroccan culture. We had not booked a city tour as we did this the day prior through another guide, however Bilal gave us an abbreviated tour on our walk home after the cooking class. For this we give 3 stars, as it was not what we had planned and didn't really have anything to do with the cooking class. We wandered through the Medina on our way home and any question or sign of interest we had turned into entering a store and being swallowed up by salesmen trying to sell us something. It would have been nice to know this ahead of time to be more prepared to decline merchants, but we were caught off guard and felt pressured to where we ended up getting items impulsively. Unfortunately Bilal was not with us either, waiting outside the shops, so we didn't have his input on what we were being offered. We knew this about Tangier's shopping culture, but because we had signed up for just a cooking class, we didn't see this coming at all. I would absolutely book with Bilal for the cooking class - this was an incredible experience! However, be prepared: we saw others and experienced ourselves how tourists will basically be dropped off at a shop without any heads up after we asked about or showed admiration in something.

Response from Host, Jun 2023

Thank you so much Annie for your kindness and the visit I'm so glad tpnhear you say that you liked the experience. Conserning to the store, your mom asked me about the handcraft and lamps,so I've adviced her the best Store of the city. And you diden't said nothing when you were out,and I haven't realized that you got something from there.otherwise I would ask you about everything and if you say that was any pressure or somthing I would get back to them and return all that you got from them. But,unfortunately you diden't said nothing and when I asked you you said everything was good... Thank ypu so much for your time spent writing this review, and please if do you need my help with something, whatever, don't hesitate to contact me. Even if did you get something and want to return it,you can count on me. I'll be able to help. Many thanks

Authentic cooking experience.

Boyeoluwatito_F, May 2023
The cooking class with Bilal and his family was the most enjoyable part of the whole trip! From the beginning, Bilal was great with communication, messaging to let us know when he was on his way and to give any needed information. The experience started with a market tour that was very informative, and Bilal shared a lot of information about local produce that was super helpful. The trip to the local apothecary was interesting but could be skipped. The cooking class itself in Bilal's home was beyond amazing! His family was so nice and welcoming, and despite the language barrier his wife was engaging and funny! They were both very patient and explained each step and were willing to make modifications for taste and diet restrictions as we went along. The whole experience was very authentic and fun, recommend 100%!

Fabulous Tour!

Karen_W, May 2023
Bilal was a very knowledgeable tour guide. He was very responsive to communications and was very agreeable for what we wanted to do. The cooking lesson was very informative and the food was delicious. He was very helpful on places to eat dinner and transportation to the airport. I highly recommend this tour or any tour with Bilal.

Response from Host, May 2023

Thank very much Karen for your visit and also for your feedback. I'm so glad to hear that you've enjoyed the experience. I would like to see you again and show much more spots of our country. Thanks

Bilal is a great host and teacher

Alex_B, May 2023
We went on a tour of the Medina with Bilal where we purchased much of the ingredients we would use to cook our meal. Then Bilal and his wife showed us how to make several Moroccan recipes including bread, Chicken Tangine, and Couscous. It was all delicious! I appreciated how accommodating they were to vegetarians as well!

Response from Host, May 2023

Thank you so much Alex for your feedback I'm so glad to hear you say that you've enjoyed with us Hope to see you again Thanks

Amazing authentic & first-hand experience of local culture with Moroccan family

Jessica_L, Jan 2023
Bilal's cooking class and food tour was the highlight of our week long trip to Morocco! Given that food is such a quintessential part of Morocco culture, we wanted to experience first-hand Moroccan family style cooking - this experience with Bilal and his family was just perfect for that. Communications were always quick and easy, and Bilal picked us up at the hotel we were staying at. We went into the Medina for some food shopping, before being invited to his family home where his wife and him took us through step-by-step on how to make a chicken tagine, Moroccan bread, Moroccan tea and salad. We made 1 tagine, 1 portion of bread, and 1 salad each using fresh ingredients. We then dined all together in the family living room. The family are warm, instructive, and very knowledgable about food and cooking. My partner is a professional in the food & beverages sector back in the UK, so had many granular questions about the ingredients and cooking process, all of which were answered and well explained. We feel so lucky to have had such a real and true experience with a Moroccan family through their cooking and food. In addition, Bilal gave us many pointers on getting around in Tangier, and nice places to visit. Big thank you and warm wishes to Bilal and the family! No matter if you're a foodie, a food expert / professional, or just someone on travels and keen to get to know the local culture - this is a highly recommended experience for everyone visiting Morocco.

Response from Host, Jan 2023

Best cooking class experience ever!

David_B, Oct 2022
Bilal and his wife were the best hosts you can imagine! The cooking class took place in the kitchen of their own apartment, right outside the main entrance of the medina (Grand Socco). They were fine with us bringing our two girls with us and we were lucky that their girls were at home too that day, so our girls spent some time helping us cook and some time playing with their gorgeous daughters. Food came out delicious and there was plenty of food for everyone. Highly recommended!

Response from Host, Oct 2022

Many thanks David for you visit and we'd like to have you again Thanks

A wonderful and must do experience with Bilal

Salvatore_S, May 2022
Let me begin by saying that Morocco is extremely safe and welcoming! The Moroccan people are loving and caring! A cooking class is a must! Bilal and his family were terrific hosts! His wife was great and showed us some great techniques on cooking! The food was amazing and healthy! Bilal took us through the market and we did some spice shopping. It’s a must do in Moroccan. Again, i want to thank Bilal and his family for hosting.

Response from Host, May 2022

A must do experience in Morroco

Amanda_N, Feb 2020
Bilal and his wife gave my fiance and I a private, warm, lovely tradition Morrocan cooking experience. The day started with Bilal picking us up at the meeting location, from there we ventured to the local market to purchase fresh meat, vegetables, dessert and herbs for the most delicious chicken Tangien I've had in Morroco. During the trip to the market Bilal took his time to answer our questions about Tanger and point out historic facts about the city. Upon arriving to their home, we were welcome by his lovely wife who began our cooking class/ experience. We learned how to make Morrocan bread from scratch, chicken tangines, Morrocan salad and mint tea. We nibbled on fresh olives, delicious honey desserts and enjoyed laid back conversation with our wonderful hosts. The whole experience felt like a nice evening cooking with friends. A must try when your in Tangier, the highlight of our trip!

Response from Host, Mar 2020

Thank you so much Amanda&Will for your trust and kindness Hope all the best and I hope to see you again God bless you Regards

Moroccon Immersion Course!

Jessica_J, Jan 2020
We had an amazing time visiting the market with Bilal, then cooking at his home with him and his wife. They were generous and gracious hosts, and were just as interested in hearing about our culture as we were about theirs. Can't wait to see them again one day, this time in California!

Response from Host, Feb 2020

It was a pleasure to meet you and to have you in our home. We really enjoyed the time spent with you And we hope to see you soon with us Thank you so much for your trust

So much fun!

Elizabeth_S, Jan 2020
Bilal and Senea are fantastic people and we highly recommend their cooking class for an authentic and delicious Moroccan experience! Bilal picked us up from our hotel right on time and walked with us to the Berber farmers market to pick out fresh ingredients for our dinner. He is so friendly and showed us around the market, taking time to explain things to us and teach us a few Arabic words. They live right by the market, which was super convenient, since we cooked in their home with them. They do private classes a few times a week, so they know how to explain everything and let the guests be involved while still ensuring the food turns out well! Senea is an awesome cook, the food was delicious, but above and beyond that, they were fun to spend time with- we really enjoyed our conversation! The whole experience was fun, relaxing, and we learned so much about everyday life in Tangier that I think we would have missed with a more former experience. We definitely recommend choosing to cook with Bilal and Senea!

Response from Host, Feb 2020

Thank you very much for your kindness and trust Our home will be always open to you your around We thank you for sharing your time with us Hope see you soon Thanks a lot
