Michael was our tour guide and he was great, super informative. I booked it because I needed a filler activity after having landed in the morning. This is a walking tour so be prepared to be showered with historical facts and being on your feet for 3.5 hours. Unfortunately, he was running a bit behind and I had to leave at exactly 1:30 when the tour was supposed to end so I missed the drink and the last 30 or so mins of the tour. If you like history and learning about the city, you’d like this tour.

Our tour guide Matt gave us a whistle-stop tour of the city, its history and took us to some of the iconic sights. Highlights on the trip were the Rocks and the Botanic Gardens.

Steve was our guide and he was very knowledgeable and fun. He took us to very interesting little places on the way to some of the main sites. He had a story for everything, either about history or just fun tidbits. Well worth the time!

Small group ( of 7) experience, Jake our creative guide was excellent, The tour was informative, interesting and included a variety of topics from the early history of Australia to the present. We had some time to explore on our own. Jake took some group pic’s which he sent to us.

Our guide Matt is a 4th generation Sydney resident and he mixed his local knowledge with a great sense of humor to make for a memorable and enjoyable walk around Sydney. If you are looking for a fun way to learn about Sydney and get your bearings for the rest of your stay, this tour is well worth considering.

A fantastic walking tour. Matt, our guide was so friendly and very informative. You will learn about the history of Sydney at a great walking pace.
Louise_C, Mar 2026
Our guide, Matthew, was very organized and knowledgeable. He offered the right balance of historical, cultural and architectural anecdotes during the tour. We are travelling by cruise ship and only had 1 day to visit Sydney. The tour was a good investment and gave us an excellent overview of this beautiful city. Would highly recommend!!
Greg_T, Mar 2026
Our tour lasted about 4 hours and was small, only six people including us. We walked a large circle that probably extended 8-10 blocks south of Circular Quay. Matt did a great job of explaining the Sydney back story, super friendly and went out of his way to make it a personalized experience that included everyone and maintained good conversation and rhythm. 10/10 would recommend.
Zhidong_J, Feb 2026
A good introduction of Sydney local hot spots. 3.5 hours of walking tour is a good physical exercise covering extensive grounds. The guide is knowledgeable about history and legends.
John_B, Feb 2026

pattyhargrave, Feb 2026
Jake is very knowledgeable and keeps the tour moving well. I would have liked less shopping areas and longer at The Rocks
Philip_V, Feb 2026
This walking tour was a great time! Matt did an awesome job of sharing the sites and the history of Sidney. He was also interested in us and our backgrounds which made it easy for our group of 6 to talk and learn about each other. Great experience and well worth it!

William_B, Feb 2026
Steve was super knowledgeable and a lot of fun. The tour was great and we covered a lot of ground. But well paced with stops for refreshments and a bathroom real. Highly recommend.

Great tour through some of the most interesting and beautiful areas of the city. Our tour guy was super fun and very knowable
Mark_R, Jan 2026
Good tour, filled with a lot of historical information about Sydney's origins. The streets were very busy with New Year's preparations on the day we went, so it was very hard to hear our guide. A headphone set would have made the experience more enjoyable. Overall, I would recommend the tour.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thanks for the review, Mark. It sounds like you learnt a lot on the tour. Just on the headphones, we cap our groups at 12 people for this reason, which is much smaller than a lot of other "small-group" tours in Sydney. Even with the New Year's preparations, you should always be able to stand 3-4 metres away from your guide on our tours and hear them clearly - perhaps you strayed further away? We don't use headphones as they remove some of the connection between the guide and guest, and also can mean groups spread out more, which inconveniences other people trying to make their way around the city. Cheers, Justin from Local Sauce Tours (book direct for the best price).
CHUNHEI_L, Jan 2026
Jake was knowledgeable in explaning the hidden spots around the busiest tourist locations in Sydney. He tried his best to bring up the spirits for the 11 of us in the group. Enjoyed the experience overall.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
