Guide Karina was knowledgeable of Surrys Hill where we met and had our tour. She knew the history of the venues we visited. All eateries were very good. She asks everyone if there are any diet restrictions or allergies, and the venues accommodate those. Our first stop was oysters. They were delicious. We had a main meal at one venue. Large and delicious, it was too much. A preselected small plate would have been ideal, considering the drinks and desserts we tried later. Note that several restrooms are up or down stairs. This is our sixth tour with Viator. Recommend.

Karina was wondering, charming and knowledgeable about Sydney. Unfortunately, the food was unimpressive. We take food tours in every city we visit, and this one was disappointing. Since Australia does not have a single Michelin Star restaurant, Karina made a valiant effort to make the tour fun.

Our guide, Eric, was excellent about telling us fun information about Surrey Hills. On top of the excellent food and drinks , it was a lovely walk through a neighborhood that I don’t think I would have walked through otherwise. Great way to visit Sydney.

This tour was a fantastic way to see Sydney’s highlights! We started with delicious modern Australian food, then strolled through the rainbow crossing and the iconic gay district, which was vibrant and full of history. The route took us past landmarks like the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, and Bondi to Coogee Walk, plus places like the Museum of Contemporary Art and Royal Botanic Garden. It’s a great way to get a feel for the city’s culture, scenery, hidden gems and of course the food in just one outing.

Cancelled after the tour was supposed to have started. I’ve done secret food tours in multiple countries and this has never happened to me. I was wandering the streets aimlessly looking for the tour leader.
Don’t do it. Go somewhere else.

Hi Tosin, we appreciate you sharing your experience. Since you’ve joined our tours before, we know you are familiar with the kind of experience we aim to deliver, which makes what happened in Sydney especially disappointing.
On the day of your booking, we received very late notice that your guide was unwell and unable to run the tour. This left no time to arrange an alternative, and we understand how frustrating that must have been when you arrived ready to join. We did offer an alternative schedule, though we recognize it may not have fit your schedule. This is not a common situation in Sydney, and it is very different from what our guests usually experience. Many leave the Surry Hills tour talking about how much they enjoyed the tastings and the chance to explore the neighborhood with our guides.
Your refund was processed promptly, but we do hope this is not the last time you choose to join us. We would be glad to welcome you back in Sydney or in any of our other cities and give you the food tour experience you have come to expect from Secret Food Tours. Had an unforgettable time on the Secret Food Tour in Sydney! Our cheerful and down-to-earth guide Karina, was the perfect host, even though it was her birthday! We explored a variety of fantastic spots and indulged in a great mix of food and drinks.
Highlights included Pacific oysters and beef tartlets at The Winery, Melamakarona honey biscuits at Christopher’s Cake Shop, and the delicious stuffed zucchini flowers with beetroot & truffle sauce at Yulli’s. At Ardi’s, we enjoyed tasty burgers with fresh and cooked cut meats. Bourke Street Bakery served up an incredible Michelin-recommended ginger brûlée tart, and we ended the tour at The Trinity, the oldest pub in the local area. Karina made it all the more special with her knowledge of Australian history and a passion for sharing Sydney’s culinary gems.

We loved this food tour! Our tour guide was Karina who was excellent in sharing info about the food and neighborhood. It was a very rainy day and was grateful they didn't cancel. Some places closed, but Karina did an excellent job pivoting to allow us the full enjoyment of the various foods and establishments. At the end of our tour she made sure everyone knew how to get back home safely via light rail, train, bus, uber. Thank you for such a lovely day!

We had a nice afternoon with Karina. The food was yummy and it was just enough to comfortably fill you. Be warned tho the description of this excursion is completely wrong. It has nothing to do with seeing any of the popular spots like the bridge or opera house. You only stay in one neighborhood. Also the food varies a bit from the description so don’t expect what you read about.

Eric was GREAT! Be sure to come hungry! The ginger creme brûlée was DELICIOUS! Fish and chips is tasty but skin was left on one side of fish! Stuffed zucchini flower was surprisingly delicious! Greek biscuits were a little dry but many choices offered! Hubby bought other choices they were delicious! Ginger beer was sweeter than Bermuda’s version but still delicious!

Food tours are great when you get into a new area to get the lay of the land some wonderful food recommendations. We tried tons of items and its funny hearting this come out of my mouth but the Vegan dish was so delicious. There is walking involved so be ready for it but you see so much more of the area and architecture that you wouldn't see driving by.

This was a great walk through a diverse neighborhood with good eats. A good food tour should take you to places that you wouldn't think of look for and discover some tasty food while also learning a little history along the way. This tour covered that pretty well.
