The tour used an air conditioned minibus and there were eight guests from many parts of the world.
Our driver / guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about tourism in the Hunter Valley region. He encouraged questions when traffic allowed and was always happy to respond and help when needed.
The wildlife park was fascinating. Although the prime reason for visiting was to stroke a koala, who was much more interested in the fresh eucalyptus leaves the keeper was offering him than the striking that he received. He was clearly perfectly happy with the occasion!
The other wildlife at the location were just as fascinating but the kangaroos were particularly popular with food offered to us by the Guide for hand feeding.
I was particularly interested in the venomous snake house. Luckily the reptiles were all behind glass!
If one moved quickly amongst the enclosures one could see most of the things of interest in brief. But people with limited mobility would have to prioritise what they wanted to experience. That being said, the park is in a gentle hill and is almost entirely wheelchair accessible. Well worth a visit.
The wineries were a further twenty minutes away and were well chosen on the day by our guide for the group’s particular aspirations.
There was just the right amount of variety of offerings and of good quality although different people enjoyed different wines of course. I would not have wanted too many more to taste! That would have detracted from the enjoyment of the day in my opinion.
The cheese and chocolate tasting was a highlight of the day. A real treat for the taste buds. And in a splendid location.
The optional meal offered plenty of choice and was enjoyed by all.
Our Guide was happy to drop us off en-route before the official pickup drop off point.
Would thoroughly recommend.

Friendly guide. Great wineries with personal attention. The guide asked what kinds of wines we liked and tailored the wineries to it. The wildlife experience is the best you will get.

This was one of the best organized and most enjoyable experiences I have had for some time, invaluable
Katharan_C, Mar 2026
This is a must do for wine enthusiasts. The day started with a koala encounter which was amazing! Then onto cheese and chocolates. Then wine tasting in the beautiful countryside. It was a highlight of our trip!
Clive_G, Jan 2026
The first stop was a reptile centre not mentioned on the itinerary, a good opportunity to see Koala's and kangangaroo's up close, along with the reptiles and a centre that recovers venom for antivenom treatments. Then onto tastings, one stop for wine and cheese, then two wineries with lunch inbetween, our guide Sam provided great insight into all sorts of Aussie things.

Sam was a great tour guide. Enjoyed the day visiting the vineyards and wineries. Also enjoyed seeing the reptile park.

Had an absolutely wonderful experience with Sam and the group this past week!
Firstly, We had some real difficulty finding the spot after an Apple Maps malfunction and Sam couldn’t have been more helpful and patient in ensuring we didn’t miss the trip. After that rocky start, we had a really wonderful day completing all the activities and tastings - all of which were complemented by Sam’s local knowledge, insights and humour. It was a once in a lifetime experience getting to feed kangaroos and stroke koala bears at the conservation centre and then we had a wonderful afternoon wine tasting in the beautiful hunter valley!
Couldn’t recommend this highly enough, one of the highlights of our trip - thanks Sam
All the best,

A wonderful day experiencing both wildlife and wine (and cheese and chocolate). I truly think seeing and petting the koalas and feeding a roo will go down as one of life’s best experiences. The only thing better was having Sam as a tour guide! He was so friendly, knowledgeable and catered the tour well for our group. The wines were also delicious - we ended up buying several bottles (and also some cheese). Highly recommend this tour to any and all animal and wine lovers - money well spent!

Great experience with the wildlife and wine tour. We learned a lot and made new friends and tasted new wine. I would highly recommend!
Tim_P, Mar 2025
Great wine tasting experience, had over a dozen different wines and saw a bunch of wild Kangaroos! Sam was great, knowledgeable and fun to be with all day. Just keep in mind it is about 2 hours to and from the city!
Janine_C, Mar 2025
We loved our trip to the Hunter Valley . Sam the tour guide was really friendly and got everyone involved .Wildlife park was great especially seeing Koalas and Kangeroos . All the tasting stops were fab so many different wines fantastic
Norman_N, Feb 2025
The lunch & wine tasting are optional. We had nice Thai food for lunch. The wild life sanctuary visit is a bit short, but understandable as there are wineries to visit. Really like the close encounter with the koalas & kangaroos, awesome!!
Allie_S, Jan 2025
Wine tasting tour was awesome! We did two wineries and did a chocolate and cheese tasting - all were phenomenal! We also got to meet a koala and feed kangaroos. Our guide, Sam, was fantastic! So kind and knowledgable. He chose two wineries based on what he thought our group would enjoy and both were amazing. 10/10 would do this tour again!
David_V, Jan 2025
Our guide, Sam, was very knowledgable in the history of Australia, the wildlife park and its animals, and of the wineries that we visited. He tailored the. tour for the people in. the group according to their likes and dislikes and it was perfect. I would recommend this tour to everyone, even though. it would be the adults that enjoy it. most because of the wine.
Nancy_G, Nov 2024
Sam was a fantastic guide and this was the highlight of my trip so far. Getting a chance to pet a koala and feed the kangaroos was amazing.
I also enjoyed the two wineries we visited, some very special wines and the scenery was amazing.
I would highly recommend this tour, well worth it.

What a wonderful tour. Absolutely was a highlight to my trip to Sydney. The tour guide, Sam, was terrific - he made the day comfortable and pleasant. Such a special day!
George_B, Aug 2024
Great variety of places visited - cheese and chocolate, 2 vineyards, and restaurant for lunch. All excellent. Wine tastings give you an exposure to a wide range of wines, which is an excellent introduction to Hunter Valley wines. Sam our host did a brilliant job for us.
NORBERTO_G, Aug 2024
Firstly, highly commend our guide, Sam, for being a great guide and an amazing human being who really painted a good image of all Aussies. He graciously answered all questions and catered to all needs.
Secondly, the tour was great -- it proceeded even if there were only 3 of us on the tour. The wildlife reserve was a really great experience, seeing kangaroos and koalas and their joeys, as well as a platypus, up close. Only comment here is that it would have been nicer to stay there longer, maybe another hour, especially considering the ticket price. The boutique winery tastings were also a great experience, both the wine, venue, and wild kangaroo sightings.

Amazing trip to the Hunter Valley along with an excellent side trip to the Australian Reptile Park - the park was amazing and we managed to get close to a number of the Koalas and Kangaroos. The trip to hunter valley included two wine tastings and one cheese and chocolate tasting - all amazing. Our guide, Sam, was super knowledgeable and took good care of us - he even dropped us to the hotel on the way back, which was very kind of him.
Kelly_S, Jun 2024
Our guide Sam was amazing! Shared lots of great info about Australia & Sydney. The wineries were beautiful & the wines were fabulous. Best tour ever! Thank you Sam!!!!
Mandy_F, May 2024
Sam was amazing! I absolutely loved the animal park, and had a great day drinking wine and seeing the countryside. :)
Tyler_K, Mar 2024
So much fun! Sam has such a great sense of humor and was a great guide. Every vineyard had such great things to say about him. 10/10 would recommend!!
Harry_L, Mar 2024
Being able to pet a Koala bear was a once in a lifetime experience. We loved the wine tasting and the laid back nature of the tour with our guide Sam.
Lucy_A, Feb 2024
Nice tour, the wildlife park is really nice and obvious animals well looked after, I personally would prefer lunch at a winery rather than a resort, the first winery I didn’t rate - Allandale, just wasn’t great at all. Second winery was beautiful and really good - Bon Villa, and would be nice to have a bit livelier music on way home. With a change of lunch venue and changing out first winery would be 5 star. Sam was a really good guide and knowledgable.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Hi Lucy, thanks for taking the time to review the tour. Glad you had a nice time. Sorry you weren't impressed with Allandale but glad you enjoyed Bonvilla. All very subjective of course as many guests do love Allandale.
Unfortunately a vineyard lunch isn't currently an option for the majority of our guests (A$80+ meal cost) however the views of the resort lake often with kangaroos in the background (there were a lot today!) seems to please the vast majority of our guests.
The music on the way back to Sydney will always be pretty chilled as the vast majority of our guests happily sleep. We have learnt through experience that a lively soundtrack isn't generally appreciated. Always a challenge to please everyone though! The tour's always evolving and improving as much as we can!
Nico_T, Feb 2024
Well planned and a good mix. Sam took care of everything in a very proffesional manner. Recommended, you will for sure learn new things.
Wilma_D, Dec 2023
The wine tasting was great and Sam, our tour guide, was friendly. I like also that it's a small group.
Aisyah_D, Dec 2023
Was a great experience. I enjoyed it and would recommend to others. The tour guide was wonderful....
Diane_P, Nov 2023
Visit to Reptile Centre - lots to see not just reptiles but also native Australian species. Highlight of tour together with excellent lunch in lovely surroundings. 2 vineyards tasting and pleasant fellow travellers made for a good trip - would recommend.
Rita_G, Nov 2023
We had a perfect day with several wine, cheese and chocolate tastes and a wonderful lunch. The guide was also excellent and our tour group has been perfect.
Response from Host, Oct 2024
Hi Rita, thank you so much for your kind review. We love that you used the word 'perfect' 3 times to describe your tour experience! As perfect as it was though, we hope next time we can earn 5 stars instead of 4 ;-) Happy travels!
CEYDA_K, Nov 2023
Sam was our tour guide and also driver his wine and Hunter Valley knowledge was excellent. We started with wild life. It was so nice that we could touch the koala and kangaroo. One chocolate and cheese tasting and 2 wine yard visits were really good. A very nice lunch in a golf club was a good surprise. I could only complain about bad weather it was very rainy ☔️☔️☔️☔️day that we couldn’t enjoy outside much. Second complaint is our mini bus was little small for 10 people and old model that for a long day tour it wasn’t that comfortable. Overall thanks to Sam we enjoyed our tour.
Response from Host, Oct 2024
Hi Ceyda, yes apologies for the weather. I did request sunshine however I think my weather order was mistakenly given to another operator by mistake as their group had amazing weather that day!
Our bus was quite new and is a large spacious luxury model minibus that sets us apart from our competitors....are you sure your memory of the bus was from our tour? In any case we're pleased you had a lovely day out.
